The geometry of renormalization.

This thesis constructs a geometric object (called a renormalization bundle), on which the beta-function of a renormalizable scalar field theory over a general compact Riemannian background space-time manifold is expressed in terms of a connection. This construction is extended to conformal changes of metric, when the field theory is not conformally invariant. This is a generalization of work by Connes and Marcolli, arXiv:hep-th/0411114, who originally created a renormalization bundle for a scalar quantum field theory on a flat background.
