Not a Christmas story but a New Year one.

I loved the drama and the anguish in this one. The talking scenes were pretty emotional. But as it seems with most shorts this was padded out with about 3 sex scenes that I found easy to skip.

Jimmy and Alex has been in relationship for 4 months; and it's filled with laughter and lovely kisses. But Jimmy's fear (about what people will think of them, especially his family) and Alex's frustration about Jimmy's reluctance to take their relationship one step further results in a stormy break-up. Unfortunately, Jimmy cannot forget Alex easily, and there's the meddling from Alex's older sister ... and now, on New Year's Eve, they are thrown together again. Can Jimmy forgives Alex and get rid of his fear?

The First is a story of second chances and it's a lovely one. When they both finally cement their attraction physically, after involving in a heated argument about the 'cause of their break-up ... it's really hot and passionate. I think it's proof how Jimmy and Alex are still in love with one another.

I think this is a wonderful final story for the series of 2010 Advent Calendar books. Jimmy and Adam both have demons to overcome before they can truly be together. Jimmy is too scared to take the final step and Adam is too impulsive when he drinks. Once they admit this and start fighting together instead of against each other there isn't much they can't do. I loved the way they finally took the last step in their physical relationship. It was all about passion and losing oneself in the other person. Very beautiful.

The First is a beautiful story about a first time. The main characters are two fairly young guys who are for the first time in love and never had gay sex before. Especially Jimmy, from whose point of view we're hearing their story (in third person), is scared for their first time – for getting more intimate than just sharing hot kisses. His boyfriend Adam gets frustrated of waiting (for four months now) and gets drunk at a Christmas party, which causes a fight between the boyfriends, and worse.
Through Jimmy's thoughts and conversation in his head with Adam we learn all about their relationship, break-up and the hurt. I really liked this choice of narration, of following Jimmy on the day of New Year's Eve, doing some shopping, running into Adam's sister, while having all the flashbacks to his and Adam's first meeting, first kiss, first 'I love you's', first fight, etc.
And then New Year's Eve comes: Jimmy and Adam are both set up by Adam's sister and finally meet again after the big break-up. And, boy oh boy, do they get steamy! First there's a steamy fight and then there's an even more steamy making-up. They make up for all the lost time and the four month long built-up passion is freed at last. Very sexy and hot, but also so darn sweet because it's all new to them, it’s just one big journey of discovery. I loved this well-written story and wouldn't mind seeing more of this couple in a sequel!

I hate cheaters so really expected to hate Adam, even if his cheat didnt go past a witnessed by his boyfriend kiss, but I didn't. They are so young, with fear, the past and the unknown making things difficult. They are sweet together though, and kudos to Maura for setting it up.
On reread, I realize there's too much sex for th length of the book for me

Really well written holiday story about Jimmy and Adam. Adam has gotten drunk and kissed another guy and Jimmy is heartbroken and refuses to talk tot him. Meddling sister Maura tries to get them back together. Yea for meddling sisters!
