About the author

I was born in Hampshire, UK, but I have lived in North Yorkshire, near the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, for many years now. I am married with three grown-up children and two grandchildren. My interests are reading, tennis, table tennis (I coach kids) pub quizzes, social bridge, family history and socialising with friends. My first publishing success was a humorous political poem in the Yorkshire Post, a top regional paper. More such poems followed, along with light-hearted articles about family and friends. Then I tried fiction, and after bashing my head against a brick wall for a couple of years, I finally began to get some success. I have had over 100 short stories published in national women's magazines. I tried books after that, and was fortunate enough to be taken on by one of the top London agencies, but publishing is in such a state that it's hard to get a deal nowadays, unless you're a celebrity of already well-known. I almost made it, but not quite, so I self-published.
