I chose this book for my library’s summer reading bingo card. It filled the slot for book by a local author. I am so glad I did. The story is rich in emotion, vivid in detail, and so raw at times that I cried both times I read it. Emily Dabb- please send us the next book soon. And Dorrance Publishing Co, make a better cover for this book please. It does not do the story justice.
A reasonable attempt but suffers from what so much faith-based fiction does, which is awkward proselytizing. It is also difficult to reconcile a world which is not part of this one but that somehow God needed to save in the exact same way. It doesn't jive. Time spent in Lewis and Tolkien would help show more elegant ways to play with these ideas. The overall story has potential, and for a local book, is fairly well edited, with only a handful of grammatical issues.
