great read - highly recommend

A great story about life and love. No Hollywood ending, but when does that happen in real life anyways? I loved the local references in the city of Toronto. The novel is extremely well written with lots of great passages that create a visual image in your head. Highly recommend.

Have just spent the whole day reading this novel. It’s a great story, desperate for love Georgie, and desperate for a better life Mitch. The two - Georgie and Mitch - are so well drawn.

I didn’t like Mitch at all, but even at the end, I didn’t entirely hate him either: he can only be, what he is. There’s a lot of pathos in him wanting to be better man, wanting a better life, but being incapable of change.

A really great first novel, Dawn Jardine has a real talent for writing complex, conflicted characters. Look forward to reading more of her work

I'll start this by saying I don't think I've ever finished a romance novel, it's definitely not a genre I normally read. That being said, I read this book in a weekend. I was thoroughly invested in these characters and their experiences and I couldn't put it down. At first, I found the familiar Toronto references really weird to read in a real book, and then I loved the familiarity of it. I picked up on subtle discrepancies in the beginning and thought I was really smart, then as the story unfolded I realized it was not an oversight. This was a great read, highly recommended!
