The plot was ok, but the characters, most especially “Reese”, just wasn’t believable as a real policewoman … especially as a rookie.

The Audible version was sadly lacking in many respects. Notable: there were at least three areas in the recording that missed being edited out as mistakes made by the narrator.

Maybe this one was just me (as I’m in the minority for rating). First time reading this author, but I’m willing to give it another shot because I believe there is better potential.

Reese and Clay have partnered again in the search of a killer who is viciously stabbing his victims. His reasons to do so are tied to his past and now is vengeance time. Reese and Clay search every lead and after many twists and turns they do find the culprit, however, putting their lives at stake. Good story. The only point I raise is that sometimes Reese thinks and expresses herself like a teenager, not an adult and a police officer which sometimes seems out of tune with the rest of the story.

okay

The plot was a gruesome one with a sad backstory, also another personal quest happening, so altogether, not bad at all.
The thing that irked me is that the rookie, did the driving, often at high reckless speed , did most of the talking in the interviewing of suspects and the experienced cop, mostly deferred to her. - this scenario is just so obviously wrong, it really detracted from the story and made it implausible, which made it hard to accept.
This seems a silly move for an authour to make, putting the rookie in charge.

You can't give up

Reese won't stop until she finds out who killed her brother. She has found a clue she just needs to find out where it leads. She has just landed a new case & she has been partnered up with Clay again. They work well as a team. They just need to find the killer before more people land up dead. But what links them all together? Can they figure it out before it is too late? A good read. Good characters

Good but for me it wasn't as good as prior Molly Black books I've read. She did one thing I liked. While she used the tired, worn out trope of a missing or dead sibling (which I seriously hate), she used her brother being murdered vs. it always being the sister being killed/missing (every author I've read in this genre has used the sister). Now to get authors to move into using different flaws in their investigators, IF the investigators "have to have a flaw"). I'll continue reading her books.

It’s been a while since I read the first book so I had forgotten some of the storyline. I hated how the other cops treated her at the precinct but I’m glad they put her and Clay back as a team. I like the addition of a rare gun that will help her find her brothers killer. I’d be nice if she asked Clay for help.

An action mystery

Over all the language is clean and no sex scenes and I can rate this a PG-13 because of the suspense, references to violence and abuse. I love the Down East of Maine with it's fog, brine and strong residents. It would have been nice to hint at these elements to add atmosphere to a good mystery.

wow!

I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series. I couldn’t believe the ending. I’m so glad I found Molly Black when I received my daily email from bookbub. I enjoy Ms Black’s writing style her books are easy read and easy to follow. Also the characters are very well written .

it was okay, i noticed a mistake in the audio where it cut out and then repeated the sentence. it happened once in the first book but there were a couple more in the second book. I really wish it wasn’t just one narrator. not only does it make it harder for the narrator, but it makes it harder for the readers to understand! just a suggestion!

Enjoyable

I wouldn’t consider the story riveting but it was darn good. The storyline was plausible and well written. The characters were interesting but I did not feel I knew them well. I would definitely read another Molly Black novel.

First time reading Molly Black and came away really impressed. Enjoyed the story tremendously even though this is the 2nd book in a series it didn't affect the story at all. Characters were outstanding and story line flowed nicely. Recommend.

Amazingly Tragic

Clearly exposes the chilling creation of a psychopathic serial killer. The results are horrific and the resulting loss of innocent lives heart-wrenching. A superior team of an FBI agent & a State Trooper work to unravel the mystery of who and why. A great read.

Great second book

This was a great second book in the series. So sad when people think all their actions are noble. Some are just for inflated egos.

Reese is the rookie but somehow she seems to control the investigation. Surely the experienced officer would take the lead.

There was just not enough story to keep me interested. If you haven't read book #1 the characters were not developed enough. I was disappointed having liked many other of her books.

Similarly familiar

It was an easy read, but felt very similar to book one. Some suspense but too similar to the first book.

This novel mimics the first one so closely that it surprised me. I can understand a bit of a similarity, but this was really too much.

Captivating

You know Reese by now, so you are interested in what she does and will uncover about her brother's death. And all that while chasing murderers.
