Karen Pryor was an American author who specialized in behavioral psychology and marine mammal biology. She was the founder and proponent of clicker training. She was formerly a Marine Mammal Commissioner to the U.S. government.
This is a basic volume on clicker training that is appropriate for beginners. Even though I'm not a beginner, it's a book I wanted to read. While I would have perhaps gotten more out of something more technical, I can appreciate the more simplistic nature of the book and as well as its slimness, which both make for an enjoyable, well-understood, quick, and easy read. I think many beginners would also appreciate that. I would have liked to see more clearly outlined steps for training the certain behaviors, but some human learners may very well be fine with the current format. I also noticed a few typos. Hopefully this book will give humans the information to start their clicker training journey and the hunger to delve into clicker training even more!
This book is essentially a pamphlet, but it's a very basic and helpful overview of Karen Pryor's general clicker training principles. Could be a good place to start for someone who is just exploring clicker training for the first time.
