701 LIFE LESSONS: Timeless Lessons for Overcoming Life Challenges in a Chaotic World

Rate this book
Are you tired of feeling lost and directionless in life? Discover the powerful life lessons that will transform your perspective and help you achieve your dreams in this inspiring self-help book.

Life is intricate, profound, and replete with surprises and obstacles. When things occur regularly, life is frequently difficult, frequently perplexing, and occasionally outright deceitful. And, as the saying goes, life is not fair; or, at the very least, its gifts are not distributed equitably. Some people find and realize their aspirations with relative ease, while others strive for a long time, and some never succeed. However, contrary to common assumption, failure is seldom the result of "bad breaks," even if a person is born destitute and disliked. Usually, failure is the result of inadequate responses to life's demands.

Life is full of valuable lessons, and it is best to learn them as early as possible. The sooner a person becomes acquainted with what real life entails — the challenges and opportunities, the unique role each person plays, and the dangers of entitlement and self-pity — the sooner he or she will learn to handle the challenges, take the initiative to find his or her role, and prevent bad habits from forming, and the more time there will be to achieve the greatest good.

This book, along with 701 Life Quotes, challenges your present perceptions of the wonder and mystery of life and the world. Perspective enables you to comprehend circumstances from other vantage points and to consider alternative opinions, experiences, and points of view. This increases your comprehension and your empathy. It lowers prejudice, judgment, and conflict. This is the premise of the book. To change your perspective towards life's hardships and obstacles and to empower your greatest self in this chaotic world.

I feel the shared anecdotes are derived from his life experiences, but more than that from the series of books he must have read. And, while going through the anecdotes, it felt like there's no single source from where these thoughts are coming from, as some of the anecdotes sit contrary to each other, and it becomes difficult for the reader to derive what is there to accept or to not accept.

There are these few quotes, which I simply couldn't stand with:

*It would help if you face your difficulties alone; no one would complete the journey for you.* - But there's no harm in seeking the help of others, we are social animals, we all need each other's support some time or the other.

*You must suffer humiliation to achieve your goals.* - Why? It's not the stepping stones to achieve goals.

*Your future is more important than your current and temporary emotions.* We can't simply ditch our emotions, if we suppress it now, they are going to come and haunt us in unexpected ways. I feel it's required to give required validation and time to our emotions. But, yes, we should refrain from sinking in those emotions.

And in addition to that, there are some which are synonyms to others present in the book. Also, this book lacks proofreading. Where there's a lot of good books out there, I chose not to spend much time on this one.

For me, this is more or less similar to reading quotes from an Instagram page where writers with different perspectives contribute. There's no single path or trajectory that defines the thought process behind these anecdotes. And, in such cases, it leaves the reader confused, and that's why I left reading this after I finished the second chapter.

I'm rating this one as 2/5, because there are still some good thoughts or practices, one could to hold onto.

Concise. Common sense

Fun read that can make you think. I like the topics without unnecessary points of view or some long explanation.
