Chakras can’t be seen on an X-ray or MRI, but these energy centers of the body have long been understood by yoga practitioners, acupuncturists, and reflexologists to rule all areas of a person’s life. With sumptuous photographs and detailed charts, this Gaia Busy Person’s Guide explains the location and special qualities of each of the seven chakras, and how to use them to solve specific problems, from reducing stress to easing physical and emotional pain. Anyone can tap into life-enhancing chakra energy with these exercises, which include journal writing, drawing, meditation, and visualization. Each idea is designed to fit today’s busy lifestyle.
I'm a big fan of this book. In fact, if I had money to spare, everyone I know who's interested in health would be getting this for x-mas. It's a great gift book, filled with photos that make it easy on the eyes and easy to learn from even if you can't commit a lot of time to it. It has a few of the same exercises mentioned in Donna Eden's Energy Medicine, but having the instructions and pictorials on the same page, and having one subject or exercise per 1-2 pages makes this one so much more user-friendly. The organization is really helpful. Some chapter titles: "Starting the Day," "Chakras at Work," "Chakras and Your Relationships," "Chakra Healing." Then within those, you'll find sections scattered throughout, titled "Special Focus: The ___ Chakra," which include a chart with tips on how to strengthen that particular chakra. This book is also a good introduction to a number of alternative healing topics such as massage, crystals, sound healing, color therapy, aromatherapy, breathing, journaling, yoga, & meditation. It's a small book, and very simple, but it's one you could easily work on throughout a year or longer... chock full of healthy practices that I'd like to start incorporating into my life. This one's a keeper; I do hope I get it back after I lend it out.
