Highschool of the Dead, Vol. 3
The high school escapees are joined by elementary-schooler Alice and a brave little dog as they make their way to the next safe house, not a soul (or corpse) in sight. The Alice's presence eases the tension, but as Marikawa-sensei drives farther into the neighborhood, "they" seem to be out in greater numbers. The car struggles to shake the relentless zombies while Takashi and Rei cling perilously to the roof. The group has been lucky so far, but will their determination and makeshift arsenal be enough to make it to safety alive?

The end of the world is getting Exciting! We’re seeing different factions arise with; some right wing nationalist, a sex cult and of course, trigger-happy Americans.

Ghos one was a little hard to follow, some of the convesations just didn’t add up. At least no expenses were pulled with graTITious fan service that was going on… i think i feel ashamed now…

Highschool of the Dead is where you get your zombie action. Fast and furious and intense. Nothing in this manga is for the faint of heart. I recommend this manga for those over the age of 16 for more of the sexual aspects registered within this series.
For those of you that are shonen fans, this manga is definitely for you. The amount of ammunition that these teenagers are packing is seriously something that you should all take a look at because its intense as hell! A wonderful and highly addictive series that brings you back to see who will make it out alive in the world succumbed to the wave of zombies.

I love this manga but that teacher guy should just die. He's f*ing terrible. I can't stand the creepyness he has about him. I hate him but love the others(mcs).

Achtung: Infektionsgefahr!
Überall auf der Welt ist ein unbekannter und tödlicher Virus ausgebrochen, der die Infizierten in torkelnde und sabbernde Zombies verwandelt. Die Notrufnummer ist dauerhaft besetzt, Handynetze lahmgelegt, Brücken und Zufahrtsstrassen militärisch abgeriegelt. Die menschliche Zivilisation steht vor einem Kollaps und noch gibt es keine Erklärung für den blitzartigen Ausbruch.
Während des Ausbruchs der unheimlichen Epidemie, befindet sich Takashi Komuro in seiner Schule und bemerkt schnell, dass nicht alles mit rechten Dingen zugeht. Kurzerhand verbarrikadiert er sich mit seiner Jugendliebe Rei Miyamoto auf dem Dach der Schule, um sich vor der wandelnden Leichenflut zu schützen.

Passend zu den anderen Covern sehen wir hier einen der weiblichen Protagonisten des Mangas. Saya ist die Launischste der Gruppe und man weiß nie, woran man bei ihr ist. Das kann man auch am Cover erkennen, denn der Gesichtsausdruck ist einfach nicht wirklich zu deuten. Wie bei den anderen Covern ist Saya scheinbar ebenfalls vom Kampf gezeichnet und bereit den Zombies eins auf die Nuss zu geben. Auf jeden Fall ein Cover mit Wiedererkennungswert.
Eigener Eindruck:
Nachdem die Gruppe das kleine Mädchen Alice gerettet hat und beschlossen hat keine weitere Rücksicht mehr auf andere Überlebende zu nehmen, da diese scheinbar gesellschaftlich verdorben sind, treibt die Gruppe mit ihrem SUV durch den Fluss, um so die Brücken, welche stark bewacht werden, zu umgehen. Aber auch auf der anderen Seite finden die Schüler Zombies vor, was bedeutet, dass der Fluss sie nicht aufgehalten hat. Als die Gruppe in eine Barrikade hinein gerät, müssen sie zu Fuß weiter flüchten und werden von weiteren Zombies angegriffen. Gerettet werden sie von Sayas Mutter, welche mit deren Vater eine rechtspopulistische Festung erbaut hat. Zeit zum Verschnaufen und zu überlegen, wie es mit ihnen allen weiter gehen soll. Doch viel Zeit zum Überlegen bleibt nicht, denn die ersten Geretteten in der Festung beginnen einen Aufstand zu proben und wie lange die Energie des anliegenden Speicherwerks noch ausreicht bleibt auch fraglich.
Der dritte Teil der "Highschool of the Dead"-reihe konnte mich schon ein wenig mehr überzeugen. Zwar finde ich es noch immer total bescheuert, dass der Mangaka sein Hauptaugenmerk auf Oberweiten und zweideutige Anspielungen mit lenkt, aber der Rest der Geschichte konnte dann doch sehr gut überzeugen. Zum einen haben wir da den immernoch schwelenden Konflikt in der Gruppe wie sie nun weiter machen sollen. Bei Sayas Familie bleiben oder sich weiterhin allein durch die Welt schlagen. Da Saya ein schlechtes Verhältnis zu ihren Eltern zu haben scheint, fällt die Wahl schließlich nicht schwer, vor allem scheinbar nicht, nachdem Kohta mit Sayas Vater aneinander gerät. Den Rest scheint für eine Alleinarbeit schließlich die Tatsache zu bestimmen, dass Sayas Eltern Rechtspopulisten sind und nicht jeder der Geretteten mit der neuen Situation zufrieden ist. Unmut macht sich breit und es sieht alles danach aus, dass die sichere Festung sich bald in eine kleine Hölle verwandeln wird, wenn jeder versucht die Macht an sich zu reißen. Nebenbei steht noch immer das Verhältnis von Takashi und Rei im Vordergrund. Noch immer trauert Rei um ihren Freund, welcher ein Zombie geworden ist, aber so ganz uninteressant scheint sie Takashi auch nicht mehr zu finden - und damit ist sie scheinbar nicht das einzige Mädchen in der Gruppe. Auch gibt der Mangaka noch einmal einen Einblick in den Bus, mit dem die Freunde zuerst geflohen sind und sich schließlich von den Ansichten ihres Direktors losgesagt haben. Der Sittenverfall ist hier unverkennbar. Wer nicht funktioniert, wird den Zombies zum Fraß vorgeworfen. Der Wahnsinn der hier Einzug hält wird sicher auch noch im nächsten Band eine Rolle spielen, denn wie es aussieht macht sich die Gruppe auf den Weg zu der Festung der Rechtspopulisten. Es bleibt also abzuwarten, ob der Manga vielleicht nicht doch noch ein wenig mehr an Spannung gewinnen kann.
Fazit:
Leider noch immer nicht so ganz mein Fall, da mir nicht alle Thematiken gefallen oder gar einleuchten. Jedoch gab es hier wieder ein Spannungshoch und auch endlich mehr Story in Hinsicht auf die Gruppe. Ich bin gespannt, wie es im vierten Teil weiter geht.

Interesting... Some scenes here were, like when the two of them fell on the river, in the anime was after being separated from the rest of the group but here it was them of separated on free will to draw all zombies with them (basically in the anime this happen first (They spending the night together) and in the manga afterwards). Remembering their connection & interaction it makes more sense like in the Manga. In the anime they kissed - but int he anime nope... which was a shame...
In the anime it was more dramatic the fighting (when they were in house) - They left with Takagi's house but here they had somesort of buggy.
There was also an important part missing in the anime when the friend of the professor watch his partner kill himself after being bitten. IT would be dramatic but they knew they weren't pursuing this story - I don't know.

Gah. I forgot how awful the illustrations of the women are. Why do their boobs look like pineapples?? The dialog often makes no sense, but the scenes with zombies are fun. I have a few of these checked out from the library - not sure how many I will read before I give up. I am not the target market for this series.

Black & White version of the Manga "Highschool of the Dead". Continuing the story of a group of Japanese students trying to survive a Zombie apocalypse in a supposed suburb of Tokyo. They make their way to the home of one of students who's father is a Right Wing Political leader. Lots of action and gore with some sexy fanservice in the mix. Great series!

The group of high-school survivors finds Takagi's parents, extreme right-wingers, who have set up a stronghold.
Ok, done with this series. It feels too sloppy - not great art, way too many boobs swinging around, and the inclusion of the 'cute little girl' is the death blow for me. My advice - look elsewhere for your zombie manga.

This series would be ten times better if Rei wasn't a character. She literally adds only more boobs, unnecessary panty shots, and infinite frustration.

Highschool of the Dead volume 3 contains chapters 8-12 and is a direct continuation of previous volumes. It's best to start at the beginning.
At this point the style and tone of the series, including the levels of gore and fanservice, are well established and readers should know what they're in for and whether or not it's within their personal tolerances. So I won't be providing as much in the way of warnings about such things from this review forward. See my reviews of earlier volumes more detail is needed.
This volume opens with an ominous glimpse of events in another corner of the world before returning to a brief moment of calm as another day begins in the horrific new world our protagonists have been thrust into. Some comedic touches and character beats lighten things a bit before "They" appear again for another tense life or death battle.
As usual the action is very well done and appropriately gripping, but the other parts of this volume are perhaps even more interesting. New characters with rather diverse views are introduced and the look we get at the associated philosophies is pretty fascinating (and somewhat disturbing). The core cast has to deal with some self-reflection on what they have become in addition to dealing with adult survivors who immediately classify them as "just kids." We also get a peak back at the group they left on the bus and what Shidou has accomplished. The pacing is a bit uneven here and there but overall this is a strong volume with a lot of good character development.
The art continues to be one of the most impressive things about the series. Just great stuff.
Volume 3 balances the requisite survival horror action with more of the underlying morale questions and soul searching that give Highschool of the Dead surprising depth at times. A good installment that builds momentum for volume 4.

Meine Meinung:
Weiter geht es , der Teil war eher von der Ruhigen Sorte.
Die Gruppe ist nun gerettet worden und ist im Haus von Takagi gelandet.Deren Eltern eine wahre Festung gebaut hat, aber genau deswegen wollen andere Menschen auch dort rein.
Die Gruppe fühlt sich nicht so wohl und möchte weiter ziehen, den sie wissen das es nicht immer sicher dort bleiben wird.
Ich finde die Reihe dennoch nicht schlecht, Zombies halt ;)
Ich bin gespannt wie es weiter geht und außerdem ist der Gruppe ja noch wer auf den Fersen der eine Rechnung offen hat.
Setzt am zweiten Teil sofort an
Pluspunkt:
- Man erfährt immer mehr von der Gruppe
- Es geht ruhiger weiter
Minuspunkte:
- Hat ein bisschen an Aktion verloren

Volume ketiga ini dimulai dengan krisis yang terjadi di dalam pesawat Air Force One, ketika seorang pria yang diangkat sebagai penjabat sementara Presiden Amerika Serikat dipaksa untuk memutuskan apakah akan meluncurkan serangan nuklir ke beberapa kota sekaligus ...
Dramatis sih, tapi ya sudah. Ternyata hanya begitu saja. Lalu kita kembali dibawa ke Jepang, di mana pada akhirnya Pemerintah Jepang secara de facto tumbang akibat serangan virus yang merebak di seluruh negeri dan menjadikan orang-orang zombie haus darah. Rombongan siswa pria cemen dan siswi berpayudara besar (seksis banget dah ini manga!) berhasil mencapai rumah keluarga Takagi. Sebenarnya rumah ini lebih pantas disebut istana saking besar dan megahnya. Ternyata, rumah itu menjadi tempat berlindung banyak orang, termasuk para pengikut Ketua Takagi, sang pemimpin Partai Ultra Nasionalis Sayap Kanan. Tanpa mereka sadari, ada bahaya yang mengancam mereka, dan itu bukanlah dari para zombie!
Overall, ceritanya mulai terasa membosankan sih.

This is a non-spoilery blanket review of the first three editions of Highschool of the dead, since I read them so closely together.
The best thing about Highschool of the Dead was the art. It's very well illustrated with a wide range of facial expressions, well designed action scenes and convincing zombies.
From there it was pretty mundane.
The story is pretty much The Walking Dead with teenagers, I didn't find anything unique or exciting about Sato's approach to the zombie apocalypse (at least not in the first 3 volumes).
One thing that irritated me the most was the ecchi/harem comedy threaded throughout the volumes. It's not something that usually bothers me and I suppose it is some sort of comic relief, but it seemed exceptionally out of place with the seriousness of the zombie apocalypse story line.

¡Penoso!. No voy a gastar caracteres para escribir lo que ya he dicho antes en las opiniones de los dos tomos anteriores . Más de lo mismo , no se puede esperar nada de una historia que en un principio se maneja perteneciente al genero adulto como un planteamiento del genero zombie bastante maduro y experimentado . Si George Romero e incluso Robert Kirkman vieran este adefesio no sé como responderían . Una historia vacía , plana que nunca termina por arrancar .
¡No puedo creer que haya comprado los 7 tomos y el tomo de la parodia sin siquiera haber leído el primer tomo . NO LO RECOMIENDO .
No tengan esperanzas en la historia que igualmente conforme avancen no llega a ninguna parte .

I vaguely remembered this episode in the anime but I was trying to recall it because truthfully, the manga volume was really confusing. I'm not really sure what was happening other than the basics - they got to Saya's house... her parents are rich and powerful... and military? Politicians? I'm not entirely sure what... nor was I entirely sure of what their grand plan was that Saya was talking to the "regular" people about.
Also... why do the girls have football shaped boobs half the time? I've never seen anyone with football shaped boobs.

Just as zombie filled as its predecessors, volume 3 shows the gang seeking safety and their folks. After being cornered, the gang is rescued by Takagi's mother and a group of survivors. They take refuge at the Takagi manor, seemingly safe and sound, but mutiny is starting to rear it's ugly head among the citizens the Takagis have taken in. Can peace last or will the barriers crumble down from the inside out?

Sería tonto mencionar que lo encontré un tanto sexista pues es un manga de género shonen y ecchi por lo que usualmente resultan así pero si noté ciertos tonos machistas en este tomo, fuera de eso todo genial e insisto en que el trabajo por parte de la editorial panini es excelente en esta entrega full color de HOTD, no deja de agradarme esta tematica!

The titillation continues but I am hoping the story builds some more. Introduction to more characters that may be interesting. I'm not sure about the title of the series in that, though the main characters are high school age students, it is becoming farther and farther from being high school.
