René Schérer (born 25 November 1922 in Tulle) is a French philosopher and professor emeritus of the universite de Paris VIII. He is one of the most prominent philosophers of France.

Schérer wrote about communication science, phenomenology, pedagogy and studies about Charles Fourier. He is a radical critic of the western education, he wrote about the need of changing of old pedagogy with new methods of liberation of young people and chidren.

In his most famous work, Émile perverti ou Des rapports entre l’éducation et la sexualité (1974) Scherer shows the errors of the old pedagogy methods and support the need of a more conscious sexual education.

He often collaborated with philosophers and artists as François Châtelet, Olivier Revault d'Allonnes, Gilles Deleuze, Félix Guattari, Jean-François Lyotard, Michel Foucault, Guy Hocquenghem, Georges Lapassade, Kateb Yacine. He is also brother of the film director Éric Rohmer.
