This was a fun, quick read that is essentially a quick capsule summary of the band's history up until the early 1990s (i.e. while Jerry was still alive and kicking) backed up by interviews with band members, associates, hippie scenester and Dead Heads. The latter were the most interesting, I'd love to have heard more recollections of the everyday Heads. Lots of great photographs.

One More Saturday Night: Reflections with the Grateful Dead, Dead Family, and Dead Heads by Sandy Troy (St. Martin's Press 1991)(782.421) is another good old book about the good old Grateful Dead. Half history and half interviews, it is loaded with information about the early days of the Dead. My rating: 7/10, finished 5/29/12.
