Rate this book
This book is an examination of the subtle cultural aspects impacting communication and understanding between mainland Chinese speakers of English and Anglo-Australians, two groups which regularly and impactfully interact. Chapters are devoted to reviewing the literature about Chinese ways of communication in intercultural situations, laying out the theoretical framework for studying Chinese and Anglo-Australian communication, and explaining the research design and methodology of this study. Other chapters analyze the Chinese cultural schemas of harmony, family, and education in the context of how those schemas affect intercultural discourse between these two groups.
