New Release Review! Ghost Tracker (Trackers #2) Jenna Kernan!

When wolf Skinwalker, Nick Chien, is attacked by ghosts, the Thunderbirds leave him at the mercy of an enemy healer, a Dreamwalker, with supernatural powers as dangerous as his own. Her duty as a Spirit Child is to kill him. But she instead determines to learn if his wild story of being attacked by ghosts is true.  While walking in his dreams, Native American Jessie Healy, sees the truth...the threat is real. Nagi, the Ruler of the Circle of Ghosts, is using his ghosts to take possession of humans and attack the living. She also discovers, that in his dreams, they can explore a passion forbidden between their people when awake. But upon waking, they face more than the discovery of their attraction. They must confront an enemy that could destroy them both.

Jenna Kernan’s Tracker series is a wonderful world full of intriguing mythology, fascinating characters and she brings it all to life with well written descriptions that makes it easy for the readers to become part of the story as it takes place.

Nick and Jessie are strong, captivating characters that easily draw readers in and then refuse to let go because they have lots of sizzling chemistry but due to cultural differences they try and fight that attraction which keeps a lot of tension and angst which makes the romance quite rocky and keeps readers wondering if this couple will reach their happily ever after moment.

The story starts off with a bang as the enemy targets Nick and then he finds himself injured on Jessie’s doorstep and the suspense and anticipation builds from there keeping readers on the edge of their seats with this fast paced plot.

The mythology mixed in with the romance and the author’s type of characters adds interest and a little something extra as it adds to readers knowledge and changes things up a bit. Skinwalkers have always fascinated me and this book really brought them to life and so I was quite enthralled with the story from the very beginning and even though I haven’t read the first one yet, I had no trouble catching on to the plot and the bad guy’s intentions, of course, now I will be adding the rest of the series to my TBR pile.

Nagi is still at it. He's still after Michaela, the only person in the world who can actually SEE him, and he'd like to get to her before she births her twins, two more people who could potentially see him. So Nagi targets the other Inanoka who will surely seek out Sebastian, a healer, if anything happens to them. Fortunately for Nick, he finds out before he leads Nagi and his ghosts right to Sebastian and Michaela, and when he the Thunderbirds come to rescue him, they drop him off at Jessie Healey's ranch. Jessie, unfortunately, is a Niyanoka, a spirit walker who has been taught well the lore of her history and their hatred for Inanoka. But Jessie can see that maybe they had it all wrong and Inanoka weren't all that bad, especially Nick. The two have a connection and romance that cannot be denied, but in order to be together, Jessie will have to betray everything her family has ever taught her and possibly turn her backs. No way Nick believes anyone could love him that much.

Another fantastic story. Still love the world building and the rules are pretty easy to follow here. I loved learning more about the Niyanoka and their history and why they see the Inanoka as enemies. And Nick is central to that. Their romance was good, but it kinda felt like they rushed into love and once Jessie was there she had no hesitancy at all about commiting herself 100% to Nick. That was nice and all, but could have used a bit more angst or so. It just felt like once Jessie realized she was in love, that was it and there was no more tension between them...except maybe for Nick's lack of confidence in it all. I'd have loved to see them maybe getting to know more about each other and really interacting before the love was on the table. It felt a little rushed, but I didn't mind too much. All in all, looking forward to the rest of this series...especially Bess's story (and the addition of her being in love with Nick was a really good hook into her story).

I didn;t read the first book, but I find that I had no problem with the continuity of the storyline. In this book, Nick is a wolf, an Inanoka a skin shifter. On one of his nightly club hopping he meets up with three females and leaves with them only to have them injure him that he calls for help to the spirits who send a gale to rescue him. He hears the females who are inhabited by ghosts that they will follow him to the human Niyanoka who is a healer. But he asks to be sent away from his friends to keep both safe. He lands on property owned by a young woman, Jessie. Unfortunately she like the rest of her kind, not only hate his kind but are terrified of them. She tries to kill him but can;t do it...so she helps getting him healed. To find the truth of what h;s told her, she walks in his dreams where they have a tryst, she figuring he won&;t remember. That so didn;t happen. Life and circumstances start happening that changes lives.
Fantabulistic story and read!

When Nick is wounded by a Ghost attack and literally dropped at Jessie Healy's ranch, her first instinct is to put him out of his misery. She is a dreamwalker, and he is a skinwalker, a wolf in disguise. They are supposed to be enemies. And yet, she cannot bring herself to harm him. There is a strange connection.

As she helps Nick, she realizes that everything she had been taught about his kind was wrong. Now she must face this new reality and face the threats from an enemy she never expected.

This is book 2 of the trackers series. Each book is a self contained story, but there are elements that tie the series together. The overarching arc is interesting to watch build. There is a little interaction with previous characters, which is fun, too. Some of the story pacing felt slow at times, but overall I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the next book!

This is book 2 of the Tracker Series and it was even better than the 1st one. Nick Chien is a wolf Skinwalker he is attacked by ghosts sent by Nagi, Nick is badly injured and he’s left with the enemy a dreamwalker Jessie Healy. Jessie is told to kill Nick but she waits until he is asleep to find out if he’s telling the truth, Jessie dreamwalks in Nick’s dreams and she finds out that he is telling the truth and that Nagi has sent ghosts to take over people and then attack others. Nick and Jessie have an attraction to each other but they can only play it out in their dreams, but because he is a skinwalker and she is a dreamwalker they are supposed to be enemies and falling for a skinwalker is forbidden. What a fantastic story and I can’t wait to read book 3. I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

It's true a “Soul mate” and one just for Nick. Will wonders never cease. I have not found many authors that have written “American Indian's” oral history. I know that these stories are not true, but the author has treated them as such. I really appreciate that. She has created a world were they exist and done so well they would give there approval. At least in my opinion. They tell a story if love, sacrifice, acceptance and honor. They are awesome and I hope there will be many more. I received an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

The second book in the Tracker series and I know I want the next book. Nagi is getting to be more trouble he is now using his ghosts to take possession of humans. There is drama, suspense, danger a love between two people who are forbidden to love each other because of who they are. This is wolf Skinwalker, Nick Chien, and enemy healer Jessie Healy a Dreamwalker and Native American's story. I would recommend this series.I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and I also bought the paperback of this book.

This is the second book in this amazing series, and even if you haven't read the first one you will be just fine. The fast-paced, suspense that is found in this story kept me glued to the pages. If it hadn't been that, then it would have been the spicy romance, or the complex characters. I also love the fact that the supernatural aspect is taken from Native American mythology versus the Roman or Greek that is so common today. Every thing about this one is captivating, and I'm excited to jump into book three.

I really enjoyed Jenna Kernan's second "Trackers" book. It was a thrilling read with sacrifice, suspense, danger and romance. I love the mythology and Native American aspects of this story. It was very fascinating and I really enjoyed it. If the next book in the series is as good as the first two them I am really looking forward to reading them.

Setting: New York - nightclub for hunters; Freehold, Montana - barn & ranch house; Thunderbird ‘storm’; northern cave; J Bar M Dude Ranch;

Theme: two very different people, trained to hate the others ‘kind’, discover truth and discover love;

Characters:
Nicholas Chien: hunter; wolf god his father; playboy (playwolf) likes to be with lots of women; Inanokan; friend of Sebastian; he is dealing with a mother who hates him because he is his father’s son, and a father who sacrificed his life for love – he is convinced love leads to heartache, and not for him;

Jessie Healy: Niyanoka; Dream Walker; mother lost all of her family to the Inanokans, specifically to Fleetfoot, and raised her daughter to fear and hate the Inanokan’s; she ranches, moves from place to place as time passes and she doesn’t age; works with abused children, able to see truth in their dreams, and to aid them through their dreams; she is dealing with a bred hatefulness to the other race – needing to overcome teaching, to see truth (which she does quickly and with grace)…

Fleetfoot: Nicholas’ father – fearsome warrior, leading the Inanokans against the Niyanokans 100 years earlier – because the Niyanokans (who protected humanity) did not intervene when the humans hunted buffalo to extinction; he tracked and killed more Niyanokans than any others of his kind… fell for a human, who became pregnant – and then horrified when she found out what he was… she ransomed their infant son – for his turning himself to the Niyanokans, who killed him, for the life of their child… he went to his death, to save his son’s life, and Nick carries that guilt – and worked to overcome his father’s blood thirsty ways;

Michaela and Sebastian / Dances with Moonlight and Night Sky Woman aka Blake and Samantha: mom & dad, and their infants; need to be safe as delivering sons; she is growing in her powers as spirit walker, under spirit father’s tutelage;

Bess: raven shifter – Inanokan; a bit annoyed with Nick’s involvement with a Niyanokan; she is the one to carry the message to Jessie that Nick is alive, as Jessie’s spirit strives to join him in the afterlife; but she leaves alone (next book?);

Virginia Thistleback: wise old Inanoka swan; delivers Michaela’s baby; sweet;

Tuff Jackson: buffalo, Inanokan, holy man; he cures Nick’s injuries by taking the wounds to his own body and then healing his own body; human shape nothing like his buffalo shape… assists Jessie and Nick also as they battle the ghosts;

George and Marta Healy: Jessie’s parents; her mother’s hate of the Niyokan intense, and she is unable to accept Nick – almost unable to fight alongside him to protect the humans, their daughter, and Inokans alike; George able to give people new memories and some healing; not as anti Nick, but joins wife in trying to keep Nick away from his daughter;

Hihankara: guard to the path of the dead;

Nagi, ruler of Ghosts; trying to make his own half human children – ‘seducing’ a young woman, with promises of greatness – impregnates at least one; looking for Michaela and her children to destroy them… convinced she is the only one who can prevent him from taking over the world; figures his access to them is through Nick – hurt Nick (and Jessie) and they’ll go to or call on Michaela & Sebastian;

Summary:
When injured by 3 ghosts who took over 3 sexy women’s bodies, Nick calls on the Thunderbirds… but realizes that going to Sebastian would be leading the ghosts to him and his pregnant wife… so he begs the birds to take him anywhere else… and they deposit him on Jessie’s front door. Jessie reluctantly helps Nick, taking him in wolf form to the vet for stitches and then reluctantly nursing him (from a distance) … and it doesn’t take her long to realize she had been told half truths and lies, and that Nick is educated, self-controlled… and sexy; she dream walks in his dreams, making love to him, expecting that he would not remember – but he does… she comes to believe what he says about Sebastian & Michaela and her babies, and a new world… the ghosts manage to kidnap her, and Nick and her reluctant parents go to her rescue… and when overwhelmed with an attack of 100s of ghosts in human bodies, Michaela shows up, using her newly trained power to disperse the ghosts…

Two couples, consisting of Inanokyan and Niyokan – the world is achanging…

Memorable scenes:
‘What about love?’ He released her hands and stepped away. “A very dangerous illusion. To love is to give unlimited power to another person. Without love you do not have jealousy, betrayal or lust for revenge.”

“He could not say exactly what was different, but recognized it just the same. Her anticipation of his needs, his ability to make her lose her reserve and the complete honesty of this moment all struck him. He gazed at her, seeing her for the first time as she truly was, ripe, real and passionate. She wanted him, wanted this. He knew she was not like him, randy and promiscuous.”

“Every noble thought and reasonable argument fled like a herd of elk before a pack of wolves.”

This is the second book in a series based on Native American lore: shape-shifters - called the Trackers.

Nick has a bad love them and leave them habit - and the more the merrier. Unfortunately, Nagi - the god of death - has planned on that habit. Nick has hit one of his favorite nightclubs and thinks that he's picked up three good time girls - but they are possessed. Nagi hasn't been passing all the spirit ghosts on to their next level, he's been "hoarding" them building a spirit army to take over the world and this is his first really open attack on that world through a skinwalker guardian, Nick.

What does he want the location of Sebastian and Michaela's location (book one) to prevent the birth of their twins... the start of a new "clan" of guardians.

In Nick finding medical aid after the attack on him, he finds a Native American woman, Jessie, who just happens to be enemies with shape-shifters. She should find a way of killing this man, but for some reason she can't. The only medical help that she can get him is with a vet friend. Nick needs to muster up enough energy to change to his animal form. He makes her promise that NOTHING would be done to him while in that form. Unhappily Jessie agrees, to find out that his animal form is WOLF the bane of a rancher/farmer's life. For the next several hours Jessie needs to make sure that nothing happens to Nick as he's "out" and the fun just starts from there on...

I really enjoyed this book, and then discovered that I don't have the next book(s) in the series, so will be looking for it in used book stores in the future.

Enjoy :-)

Another fun, easy read. I loved seeing Nick and Jesse come to a realisation of what prejudice does. She is convinced, via her mother that shifters are nothing but animals. To know that Nick speaks and reads six languages, has travelled and is trying to learn Arabic was just an eye-opener. She falls for him, he is her soul-mate after all and must realise that she has moved beyond the confines of her parents' world and that there is no going back.
