On the Issue of Total Depravity

Rate this book
Man was created in the image of God ( Thus, he was created sinless in order to have direct fellowship with the Holy God. However, God did not create man like a robot. He gave him freewill to obey or disobey His covenant. God's covenant with the first man, Adam & his wife, Eve, is that they were forbidden to eat the tree in the midst of the Garden of Eden. The Lord said, "Lest ye die" (Gen. 3:3). Adam's disobedience to God's command caused spiritual death to all human race ( 12, 17-18). Therefore, all human beings have inherited a sinful and corrupt nature from Adam. Man's inherent sinful nature and his captivity to sin and Satan made him totally depraved ( 33, 34).Total Depravity is one of the issues that we have to deal with in discussing with the Calvinists. Every Christian must study God’s word and be prepared to answer every question that is asked of him. 2 Timothy 2: 15 “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” ( 2 Tim. 2: 15). This book is one of the series of T-U-L-I-P, an acronym of Calvinistic beliefs which we have to deal according to the Scriptures. God’s worker must always be prepared to give answers to every man. “But sanctify the Lord God in your and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3: 15).
