This is beautiful book - over 50 richly coloured paintings of Burne Jones’ work along with Debra Mancoff’s fresh and illuminating life and work of the painter.
What made this biography stand out from others is that it was really a history of his art. While it did include personal details - his friendship with William Morris, the affair with Maria Zambaco - it chronicled his art development throughout his life. What he could do when, what he aspired to, and how he achieved it. A wonderful book about an artist, I wish more art history books were like this!
