Rate this book
Description from the publisher:

“I learned to love Jesus more than my own parents.” “That is Jesus, the son of Mary the word of truth about which they are in dispute” (Quran 19:34)

Jesus has been mentioned by name 25 times in the Quran while Prophet Muhammad has been mentioned by name just five times. Additionally, the nineteenth chapter of the Quran was named after the Virgin “Mary” while there is no chapter in the Quran bearing the name of Prophet Muhammad’s mother, and any of his wives or daughters. It is also noteworthy that Mary is the only woman mentioned by name in the Quran. She is described in the most honorable way as one chosen and favored over all women.

Allah says:

“And {mention} when the angels said, “O Mary, indeed Allah has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds.” (3:42)

It is also noteworthy that Mary is the only woman mentioned in the noble Quran. And the Quran mentions that fair-minded Christians are closest to the Muslims :

“You will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say. “We are Christians.” That is because among them are priests and monk and because they are not arrogant.” (5:82)

If this book had focused solely on providing theological arguments for Islam and against Christianity, it would have been somewhat (but not very) successful. However, the author spends around half of the book attempting to prove the Qu'ran through science by stretching verses far beyond their scope. Some of what he mentions is legitimate but more yet is pseudoscience and/or only tenuously related to the verses he quotes. In addition, he sometimes takes Bible verses out of context to prove his points, which is not only disrespectful, but blatantly dishonest. Some ahadith he references cannot be found where he claims they are located (and yes, I'm that fastidious). Some exist in other locations but have been graded weak, another dishonest way to bring people to your religion. And instead of focusing on the logical theology of Islam and the Qu'ran's own arguments for itself, which are the strongest arguments in Islam's favor, he quotes orientalists' praises of Islam and the Prophet Muhammad SAW endlessly as if Islam needs the approval of European orientalists to be true. Not ONCE does he quote an Islamic scholar.

In conclusion, this book achieves the exact opposite of what it sets out to do because the author is focused on proving Islam through external sources instead of through itself. Any educated non-Muslim would recognize this as manipulative apologetics and would consequently see Islam as a joke. For any non-Muslims who want to know about Islam, there are many books that do a better job than this, most notably the Qu'ran.

the “bible” (if you can even call it that after centuries of transliterary defilement) is an insult to Jesus. The doctrine of the trinity is a Nicean fabrication peddled by a pagan council minority 400 years after Jesus’ death (the bible doesn’t mention it once save for a (subsequently deleted) KJV interpolation), and don’t get me started on the fraudulent origins of the new testament.

these chrissos are barking up the wrong sycamore tree, and this time they can’t even use their favourite “just focus on the central love of Jesus and god’s forgiveness” argument (if there’s one thing a christian hates it’s detail) because this time it inescapably leads to islam. Let’s not forget, Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the qur’an.

Passionately argued book - let down by some less convincing sections like this one:

the quran also mentions the three layers of darkness surrounding the human embryo: 1) the anterior abdominal wall, 2) the uterine wall; and 3) the amniochorionic membrane “…he creates you stage by stage in your mothers’ wombs in a threefold darkness”

Simon Caraballo did a fantastic job at relating his conversion to Islam in a non-aggressive manner, while still providing concrete and convincing arguments. All too often, books such as these are aggressive towards the religion of origin and can repel readers from different faiths. While still providing concrete and convincing arguments.

Carabello relates his interest and respect for Jesus, a common character in Christianity and Islam, and how it led him from one group to another. This book was well written, in a polite and confident tone. Carabello used many scripture references from both the Bible and Qur'an, side references, and paraphrasing.

The letter of invitation to world leaders at the end of the book was a bit strange to me - it remained polite and non-aggressive, but seemed quite out of place and unnecessary.

Also at the end of the book, there was a very helpful scripture comparison chart. This definitely upped the points I would give for structure of the book, because it is relevant and straightforward.

I was asked to read this book as a potential dawah (invitation to Islam) utensil, and would recommend it to those who are willingly interested in learning about Islam - whether for personal benefit or on a journey to conversion.

Meh. The same tactics used to "prove" Christianity is the only religion are used here to "prove" Islam is the only religion. It basically comes down to believing the one you want to. I wasn't blown away with the arguments presented.

I respect personal stories. There’s something unique about reading someone else’s journey.
However a lot of the reasonings didn’t seem to have logical progress and quite a bit of scripture from the Bible wasn’t in context.

I started reading this book with an open mind but had to stop on page 18. The title does not match what I was reading. He talks only about his love for Jesus in the very beginning and almost in a disdainful way. Then he quickly moves into a full on critique of the Christian Bible based on opinions and not facts. Once he started taking Bible verses out of context, I had to put it down and I literally threw it in the trash. The specific verse that was the icing on the cake was Romans 3:7 where the author said Paul was admitting to lying when in fact the point Paul was making was that IF a human such as himself were lying about his own faith and that increased faith in God, it is still a lie and that person is subject to condemnation. He never admitted to lying. I can’t continue to read this. If this person is trying to lead Christians to Islam, he has failed miserably. I have a copy of the Quran that I had thought about reading after this. But now I am discouraged from reading it thanks to Simon Alfredo Caraballo. Disappointing.

It's the first time I chose to read this kind of books cause I was attracted by its title.

The author, a former Christian succeeds to compare the two religions, Islam and Christianity using a simple and logical manner without offending any one of them.

I can say it's really a great book, short, relevant and straightforward, and would recommend it to those who are willingly interested in learning about Islam and Christianity.
