Millions of people around the world have seen something in the sky they could not identify. The only official scientific study of these UFOs was contracted by the U. S. Air Force in 1966–67. The Colorado Project, conducted by Dr. E. U. Condon of the University of Colorado, was controversial from its inception, and before issuing its final report had undergone constant media antagonism, staff dissention, abrupt firings, and covert activity.
Dr. Craig's experiences as the major field investigator for reported UFO sightings make fascinating reading, both for firm believers in extraterrestrial visitation and those who are most skeptical. He records both detailed descriptions and personal musings of individual cases he examined. In addition, he gives a historical overview of the UFO phenomenon, the involvement of the U. S. Air Force, the development of amateur UFO study groups, and the continuing “UFO Wars.”
In keeping with Dr. Craig's lifelong concern with bridging the gap between science and the humanities, his book is written in an engaging, humorous style at the same time it records his strictly scientific attitude toward his work.
His findings close the door on the dreams of many UFOlogists, but then his philosophical musings open a big window and let the possibility of the existence of UFOs back in.
Everyday police get hundreds of calls from unnatural events happening in their area. The police respond the show up at the scene to a hysterical person and they find no clear cut evidence as to what really happened. The only real substantial evidence ever discovered was by the U.S. Air Force in the years 1966-1967. They discovered a lot of evidence that is now hidden and covered up from the outside world. People tell stories from mysterious beepings in the middle of a forest at night to flying saucers and English speaking aliens. The Colorado Project which was headed by Dr. E. U. Condon from the University of Colorado. He faced a lot of scrutiny and constant media antagonizing and even abrupt and sudden firings.
In this book you meet a man named Dr. Craig and follow his journeys throughout his discoveries. This book makes for really interesting reading from the firm believers to the very skeptical. I would recommend this book to everyone that has an extreme passion to someone who just wants to know what UFO stands for. Throughout following Dr. Craig's findings he records very vivid and detailed descriptions of what he finds.
With what Dr. Craig finds he kind of connects extraterrestrials and humankind. The book shuts down some of the major UFO theories but is a very good book nonetheless. Dr. Craig also leaves us with some very curious mysteries. Unlike most books of this nature this one provides a very picturistic and a sliver of reality to some of the more major UFO or Alien sightings out there.
