Jack borrowed this book from the Oxford Public Library. I picked it because he loves numbers and I used to love I Spy books as a kid.

Happily, Jack has really enjoyed flipping through the book to identify and find all the numbers. He has no interest in searching for anything else or letting me read the rhymes, but I’m counting this as a win.

SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

A super simplified take on the classic I Spy books, perfect for toddlers and younger kids. This one has a theme of a different number for each page.

REVIEW:

I got a set of these I Spy board books for my kids when they were very little. We have the big I Spy books too and my kids love them (especially my seven year old).

But these are a great introduction to the whole concept for littles. My five year old still likes to read these. Even my seven year old does sometimes, even though they aren't as challenging as the big I Spy books or the Where's Waldo books (which she loves more).

What I liked about this particular one is the attention to detail on each page in regards to the number for that page. If you look closely, you'll notice that every item correlates with the number for that page (i.e. the cow on page 7 has seven spots, and the plane on page 5 has 5 windows). It's all very intentional and I really appreciate those details.

Overall I'd recommend this (and the other I Spy board books) for toddlers and younger kids. They are a great intro to the I Spy world, and they are very well done and detailed. Love them.

I Spy Little Numbers (I Spy Board Books) by Jean Marzollo– I read the first one sitting in the floor of the Wake Forest Elementary School Library with such glee that Mrs. Burns started saving the new ones for me. I got to check them all out first until I graduated from 5th grade. This series is still such a happy memory that I know your little reader will love the lush illustrations too! Happy Reading!

These little I spy board books are great for Stella. There's a picture of the item to find by itself on one page, and the normal search-and-find picture on the facing page. The numbers one is good for her practicing counting/numbers - each page includes a number to find and everything on that page has to do with that number.

This little board book is brightly illustrated and in rhyme. The counting starts with 1 and goes to 9, with questions at the end of the story. The reader is given the chance to go back through the story and find items on every second page.

A nice simple counting book we utilize in our math center area, helps the children recognize the number and connect what they are counting with the digit.

Cute board book. Think it would be perfect for babies to do tummy time with to see all the objects and numbers.

A board book seek and find that works more to build vocabulary using familiar objects and following a number theme as opposed to presenting a real challenge as the picture books series does. Great for sharing with toddlers.

This might be my favorite I Spy board book. The numbers are emphasized in text and pictures and often some of the objects in the picture reflect the number presented on that page.

This is turning into a nightly read at our house. My littlest one is crazy about letters and numbers, and insisted the Number book tonight. Fun pictures & rhymes, easy to read format and a lot of color make this a great read for the kids.
