[Ménage Amour ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Ménage a Trois Romance, M/M/M, werewolves, vampires]

Alpha Caleb Redding has spent 20 years trying to bring his first love back into his life. When he finally devises a plan, the Council of Elders agrees to it, but they add their own stipulations. In order for the mate covenant to happen, Caleb has to agree to give up his clan and alpha status, submitting to Grayson.

Alpha Grayson Cane has watched Caleb from afar, never able to touch him or speak to him due to clan conflict. It's been a heartache that has stabbed at him for 20 years. When a peace treaty comes in the form of a mate covenant between their two clans, Grayson is all too eager to agree, especially when he learns that Caleb must submit to him.

But when the vampire mediator sent to broker the peace agreement disappears, will their second chance at being together also vanish? And what happens when Grayson accidentally mates the vampire while trying to save his life? Will Caleb have to give up his clan, his alpha status, and his dream of being with Grayson? Or will being alpha born have its advantages?

If I had a dollar for every misused word in a Stormy Glenn book, I wouldn't have to pay for my books for a while! Aside from the usual errors and a slight Pinky and the Brain moment when the bad guy announced that he wanted to take over the world, it was an enjoyable few hours of reading. Stormy Glenn fans won't be disappointed.

Stormy Glenn is a bit of a conundrum to me. She's not a very good writer, but her stories are interesting. Maybe she's one of those people who would be great at telling a story around a campfire, but she runs into trouble when she has to put the words on paper. I'm constantly finding mistakes in her books, not just typos, but the wrong words being used. For example, she once used "perspective" when the correct word would have been "respective", then used "prospective" when it should have been "perspective". I've also spotted several incomplete sentences. It's frustrating and happens frequently in her books. On top of that, her characters tend to be rather stereotypical and sometimes insulting. I love her ideas, but her writing is so mediocre that I can't in good conscience rate her books any higher than two stars. Are they worth paying money for? Definitely not. But if you can borrow them from a library source or friend and are into m/m (and sometimes m/m/m) shifter/vampire romance, you might enjoy them.

This is a great book! The idea of having not just two, but three alpha-type personalities was interesting on its own. The way Stormy Glenn executed it, though, was fascinating.

Going in, I didn't really know what to expect, but I was curious. Three macho guys would surely mean lots of posturing - and it does. But, interestingly, it wasn't so much about the testosterone (except in a few very funny encounters), it was much more about the way these three arranged themselves with each other. The way they came to terms with the fact that they were ready to submit in some exceptional cases - shocking themselves and the others with this revelation. Fairly typically for a Stormy Glenn there was lots of discussion of the mate bond, but it was 'muted', making it a less important element.

If you like reading about 'macho' guys, but hate some of the harsher side effects (like I sometimes do), you will like this book. If there is such a thing as a 'cuddly' macho, there's three of them here for you to enjoy.

After a re-read done 5/17/16, I revised and updated my review:

I really liked the many challenges brought about in this book. Grayson and Caleb are both alphas who are trying to mediate peace between their packs. Caleb, unbeknownst to Grayson, has spent years priming the Council of Elders for this, and he's finally gotten them to agree to a mate covenant between the packs. This means Grayson and Caleb will mate, and one will have to submit to the other.
Throw in Joel, the vampire mediator, who gets kidnapped, attacked, and abandoned, and when Grayson and Caleb find him, Grayson inadvertently mates him per vampire laws. While Joel is unconscious, Grayson and Caleb finalize their mating with Caleb submitting and accepting the mating mark. Uh. Oh.
I felt so bad for Caleb as he struggled with feeling like he was the third wheel. But, it was great to see him and Grayson come together to rescue Joel. I liked the little surprise Alpha Garrett Silvanus (from Heart Song) served up, as that brought a little more mystery into the picture.
I adored Caleb and Joel. I wasn't thrilled with Grayson, although I liked him, mainly because he didn't seem to have the control needed to be an alpha. Not that it matters, it didn't detract from my enjoyment.
Great addition to the series!

I'm slightly disappointed in this book even though I still liked it. It's the typical Stormy Glenn storyline (as my girlfriend and I refer to them) that I'm use to reading that has sex, Alpha wolf/male crying/tears, sex, giggling, sex, sexual thoughts at inappropriate times, and did I mention there is sex? But it was missing the actual menage a trois? What's that all about? How can you have a threesome story without the threesome? *isconfused*

What's-his-name is so much the alpha that a) he takes other alphas as mates b) he renames his vampire mate and everyone goes along with it.

"Oh, you think name is Alex? Isn't that cute. I will call you Joel. No, I don't care that you are a few hundred years old and a leader among your people. You will now refer to yourself as Joel as will everyone else. No one question me!"

Grayson and Caleb were childhood sweethearts whose romance lead to their werewolf fathers fighting to the death. Since their fathers were alphas they both have to assume leadership of different clans. Caleb never wanted to leave Grayson and has been fighting since that day 20 years ago to get back to Grayson. Now he has a way. Peace must be achieved between their two clans and Caleb will risk all to have Grayson and peace. Joel is their vampire mediator that is kidnapped on his way to the meeting.

I loved these three men. None of them were weak willed characters. They were all alphas and it showed. I thought it interesting that the way the men were all raised they didn’t have more issues with “bottoming” for each other.

This book was a little better than some of the author’s work. More was put into this story and it shows. The characters are more equal and the plot line, while still obvious, was better written. The relationships between characters have a little bit of a different dimension, even though it still appears close to insta – love. The characters more fleshed out, though they still need perfecting. The setting isn’t a huge deal in most of the book. It is pretty much glossed over. Some description is given but you really don’t get a feel for it. Would have loved to feel more of the forest and Joel’s house. If you are one that enjoyed the author’s other books this one will be that much more appealing.

This is an author who is a bit like crack for me - I always buy it, smoke it, and then am left craving after a few minutes. The stories are good, formulaic for the most part, and often a bit too short to really get me fully invested. This one is different

For one - it's longer. That gives it more time for development and boy does it deliver so much better than what I've come to expect. Secondly the characters and their connection is more emotional, more heartfelt - well developed and interesting. The MMM angle was done very well - including handling jealousy and such (though it's a "mate" thing so you know...those always feel like they don't have the same obstacles). The sex was super hot and contributed to the story and the bonding of the men. The background political plot was interesting enough for me to look for the remainder of the books in the series. Well done!

Some personage change of name suddenly. And no I don't talk about Joel (and why not used his name? That's sound a little racist.)
A fews plot hole...Nothing major. Better than the first one. I love that all three men are not weak, but each had his force, they make an interesting team.
Problems with the edition.

...because it was whispered in his mind through their telepathic link.

NO. Whispered it's the action of talking softly, without your full voice. I don't see how you can do that while you using a mind link...

The review I just typed was EATEN by goodreads!

So, I enjoyed the book.. out of the three MCs, Caleb was the most well rounded of the bunch. Grayson, not enough give from alpha even in private with his mates. Joel, not enough alpha seen in sexual situations. Caleb should have been..looser.. when 'following' his alpha's orders seeing as he is also alpha born but chose to give it up in favor of getting his love back.

I was halfway through the book when I can't take it anymore. How can Caleb forgot that he have a mate link with Grayson so that he can warn him of the Vampires. S.up.d
I just left the the book unfinished.

It started off well, but then just slide downhill

* Renaming someone because their name is too long - that would be fine in private, but in public how about showing some damn respect
* Look I get you accidently mated the vampire - but your Alpha mate is right there - how about a discussion before you go banging the vampire
* Why didn't Caleb use his mind link to warn Greyson
* Your mate was taken at 41% - here I am at 60% and there is no plan yet to get him back - oh sorry - you had to screw, meet the clan, have a fight with a brother, discuss protection for an Alpha who really shouldn't need protection (unless you are getting bodyguards too Greyson) meet and have a discussion with another Alpha about said mate.

I think I am going to find a new genre of books as I have been left feeling disappointed with the latest shifters books I've read

It didn't make sense, not the plot, the timeline, the romance or the investigation. But for some reason I was still well entertained.
You should only read this book if you can switch your brain off :)

Well... Caleb spended the last 20 years trying to get back his lover and for the story Grayson spended the last 20 years don't give a sh*t. Never is said that he even tried to amend the things between both packs. Always is said that is Caleb who did all and Grayson isn't a human like Darren. He could have at least tried maybe with both trying don't had take 20 years. It's all Caleb's and was also only Caleb who has to give up his ranking to be with his lover. Thinking about that it's never said that they are mates. I think is a inconsistency in the lore (nothing new to a one Stormy Glenn). If you think is very strange because in the others books in the series the couple is in fact a mating and that is said. I don't consider a cheat storyline because Caleb knows the bond. Still yet again is Caleb who has to watch his mate linked to another just after he finally reach his goals. Thinking about this... Caleb should had run to the mountains e got away this train-wreck. Again... The 50% of the story is okay but the rest... meh. is so boring. If think better would be so much more interesting if Caleb who has linked with "Joel" (the name thing... ohhh boy) e for once Grayson to be the one man out.
This book has so many inconsistencies that i changed the rating when stooped to think better. Again i have to say... Ms. Glenn should think in the lore of the series before beginning write the book or think after and correct it. This mate thing doesn't make any sense in this book. But i don't expect much of her books. Sometimes i think that what is her books would be a nice outline of a better writer.

Okay, I'm rereading this series on my way to the new one that was just released on the 9th and after reading some of the other reviews ( some older than others) I'm not sure if we're reading the same book. While I agree there were more grammatical errors than I usually find in a Stormy Glenn book, I was able to overlook them because in general her books are well written.

As far as the name changing episode, it wasn't done for the reason of Grayson being ***grunt, grunt, grunt-me name you Joel because me want to-grunt, grunt, grunt*** but more for the reason of Grayson being ***Alejandro dadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadada is just too damn long***. It's personal between them, and other than Joel's son, no one refers to him by that name directly. In fact I don't think Garrett ever calls his father Joel, it's more like "why" and when explained "ah, okay". In fact when asking to speak to his father at the gate he asks to see Alejandro.

I did find Grayson a little too quick to temper and over any little thing and it makes you wonder how he can run his pack if he growls first, then asks questions later. Caleb I liked the most but other than the initial claiming scene, didn't seem to have too much trouble fighting his alpha nature, of course he wasn't a pushover either. I also liked that "Joel" was so much stronger than Grayson and Caleb, but didn't see the need to broadcast it constantly once he made his point.

The sex scenes, even if on occasion seemed inappropriate to real people, fit in with what the characters were feeling at that moment in time. And, if I recall correctly, in the last scene of the book the ménage was consummated with all three characters in bed, at the same time, having sex with each other.

So as some people say, "A typical Stormy Glenn book" but I like her way of telling a story. It's smooth and fluent, you know what's going on, and in the end all the bases were touched and you're satisfied with how things ended.

I swear, if I hadn't read the first book in this series, Heart Song, and already bought the third book, Love Sexy, I wouldn't have read Alpha Born. There are several holes in the plot, numerous editing mistakes, and some very peculiar conventions like Additionally, as pointed out by several other reviewers, how can a book about a menage a trois not include a sex scene with the three players? Regardless, I read the book and it does have it moments, some witty dialog, some hot sex, but in the end it just isn't enough for me.

I give Alpha Born two stars

OMG ... the hottest story i've ever read!!! Alpha wolves, Vampires ... All Males too! Definitely love how this lady writes! Not your usual wham, bam, thank-u-mam kinda love/sex fest, ok, scratch that, to others, they may think that but i found that i really enjoyed reading this, ultra strong stubborn alpha male characters with a slight sensitive humourous front that crack me up ... if that makes any sense!! lol 2nd book so far in the True Blood Mate series ... i'm actually looking forward to reading the rest!! For a chic like me, its actually nice reading a gay love story!! Might recommend it to the guys at work ... HAHAHAHAHA ... maybe they'll get rid of their girly mags/posters!! lol

What is the purpose of renaming one of the main characters? Is this to show us that Grayson is an idiot who can't pronounce anything with more than one syllable? Or maybe it is to illuminate that fact that 'foreign' names like Alejandro are bad?
The JOEL acronym joke might have been cute as an aside - you know straight out of 'Back to the Future' where they think Michael J Fox's character is named 'Calvin' because of his underwear. But just to say 'I'm renaming you because it's easier' is the rudest, most pointless non-plot point I think I've ever read.
You'd think that someone in the book would wonder about it, but even his son just blankly goes along for the ride.
No point. Just rude.

Again - an interesting and as original of an idea as you can come up with in this genre. Not even going to discuss the editing/writing.
I found that the character development was good - better than many of Stormy's books.
my scale for Stormy's books are as follows
5/5 exceptional in that the editing/writing is well done
4/5 excellent story idea that is told with out the writing driving me crazy
3/5 might have been excellent but writing drove me bonkers
2/5 swear to god this was a last minute fill in
1/5 could not read this it was so bad.

I wasn't thrilled with the changing of one of the main character's name "just because it was hard to pronounce". I mean if you are supposed to be changing with the times, wouldn't that be a part of it? I'm just sayin'. As for the overall book itself it was a good read. Knowing that what happens to the villains in this book is poetic justice.

I enjoyed this story. I liked the characters and they were made real by the author. I had a problem with the grammatical errors. I also had problems with similes and metaphors that did not fit coming from an old vampire. A better proof reader and another rewrite by the author would have made this story a higher rating.

I'm a little disappointed in this book. Excellent beginning, but the story sort of lag in the middle. I found it unrealistic although Grayson was worried about Joel. There wasn't an immediate reaction to locate his missing mate right away. Contradicting the whole protecting you mate in a shifter story. I also found the plot to be very lacking... to many editing mistake... book felt very rushed.
