I really liked this series. It was kitchy and sci-fi/theory more than cold hard facts, but this is a theoretical field... So, if you're looking for that, head to a less theoretic subfield of a science like optics or something pretty well explored. Very entertaining series, and surprisingly full of really cool things to think about like the mathematical and philosophical breakdowns of the different theories of intelligent life on other planets.
