I live in Southwestern British Columbia with my family. I work at my Grandfather's old rolltop desk most days for at least an hour or two instead of actually sleeping since my mind rarely leaves me alone. Unfortunately my mind also does not have an edit button so I then am doomed to spend more time filtering and editing what comes out in the middle of the night in order to make it make any kind of sense. Naturally I would like to thank my family for putting up with me. I would like to take this opportunity to send them my appreciation for not drugging me every night in order to silence the clicking of the keyboard at 2am.

I was really interested in this book and couldn't wait till it came to the US (was only being offered to Canada via. Goodreads, firstreads. I emailed Mr. Gordon first and asked about releasing it to US good reads, first reads. Soon Mr. Gordon emailed me back and offered a copy of his book. So basically I won it from goodreads. I was so excited that I dug in the minute I opened the package.

This is a evil, wicked, suspenseful awesome book! I could NOT put it down. This story went beyond what I would have/could have expected. Just like the characters in this book, the little town and the folks that live there gave me the creeps too, making this a truly skin crawling book to read.

Mr. Gibson out did himself in this especially creepy, suspenseful, thought provoking book. The interlude' throughout the book were the best to me (they gave such insight as to how the evil started in this little town). They really delved into the heart of the people of this town and explained a lot. Even though there is a quote in the book, that this is not a good vs evil type of thing. It really was just that. It spoke of faith and believing in the LORD, Jesus to get you through. To not put faith in just what your elders/towns folk/blood believe in. It was creepy in that you kept thinking something really bad was going to happen. You were on the edge of your seat waiting to read of details of the occult of these families of this town. I still get the chills when I think about this book. Well done! You get five+ stars from me. I would LOVE to read anything else Mr. Gibson has to offer or is out there!

Thank you so much for sending me this book!

Do you have any family secrets? I am sure everyone does. But Alexander Drupont's family secrets are more than anyone ever could have expected. After a car crash that killed his mother and father Alexander is approached by a man that he has never met before. The man claims to be a friend of the family and leaves Alex with some disturbing vibes. The man leaves Alex a very cryptic note with some keys and a letter saying that there is a family estate that he has been left but it was not included in the will.

Alex and his friends go on a road trip to Copperville B.C to look into this but they find that this mysterious piece of property has more secrets then he ever could have imagined. Alex thought he didn't have any family left but it turns out that he comes from a long line of wealthy people. But this family has some dark secrets that they will do anything to protect. Even kill.

I absolutely loved Gothic Prophet. An amazing mysterious, gripping and eerie read, that will keep you on your toes and begging for more. The twists and turns in this book were great. As soon as I thought I had things figured out Arthur went and twisted it up again.

I loved the atmosphere that Arthur had going on through the book. I loved the characters and I loved the paranormal elements. they weren't as pronounced as i thought they would be but it made the book more mysterious for me.

I absolutely loved Gothic Prophet and I cannot wait for the second book!

I received this book from Goodreads Giveaways. When I started reading it, I was impressed and thought the author had promise as a writer. The more I read, the less impressed I became.

It appears that the book is self-published. I have nothing against books being self-published. This book, however, needed a good editor and proof reader. There were so many typos and errors that they distracted me.

I found the story disconnected. There were many events introduced into the story that hinted at some connection, but the book never explained the connection. This is the first book in a series, so perhaps more will be revealed further on.

The characters could have used more development. They all seemed to be detached from emotional connection. When one of the main characters died, the group were quite unconcerned about it. There was more concern about vandalism to their motel room than to the death of their friend.

I was wondering throughout the book what genre it was. Was it a mystery? A horror story? It wasn't until the very end of the book that I learned it falls under the auspices of 'Christian horror', whatever that means.

I do think the author has promise. I'm sure his skills will improve as he gets more experience, and more so if he gets himself an editor and proof reader.

Gothic Prophet had a great start. I found the premise of the story good and the mystery is what kept me reading the book until the end. Unfortunately, that is only what kept me going.

The characters of the story were very generic. There was next to no character development until maybe the end of the book. By then, there wasn't much pages left for it to have an impact on the story. Throughout most of the book, they seemed unaffected by the trauma and danger they faced.

I kept hoping the book would redeem itself with a solid ending. Once again, I was let down. Sure the mysteries were solved, but it was nothing remarkable or memorable.

One thing that I found in this novel which I have never come across in other novels it typos. Lots of them. I wasn't even trying to find any. Things like "college" instead of "colleague" and "breaks" instead of "brakes". At one point, even one of the major characters had his name spelled in a different way.

Bad character development, forgettable ending and typos that jumped out at you ruined this story and left me disappointed.

As I read this book I found that the variety of main characters provided with a balanced group. The humour and quirks of some of the group was very refreshing and illustrated how most groups of friends survive each other and tight/difficult situations. I found that the use of crows and the eerie descriptions made my spine shiver at times and I found myself always reading a couple more pages and then a couple more. Overall I enjoyed the book and will enjoy reading it again to see how many little things I probably missed picking up on during the first read. I strongly recommend this book to all.

I really enjoyed this novel from moment I started it. Typos aside (I am reviewing the story, not bitch about typos) it was a wonderful blend of good, evil and faith to get you through. I loved that there wasn't a lot of flowery prose which generally results in me putting the book down and falling asleep. Alex as the main character was fleshed out just enough to keep me wanting to read more. Just when I thought I had something figured out Gibson through in yet another twist which took me in a totally different direction. I love a novel that keeps me hopping!

There might be a good story in here somewhere, buried under the problems. This book seems to be populated by malfunctioning androids. Their reactions, dialogue and behaviour make no sense whatsoever, and they lack any kind of emotional content. In addition, the writing itself is terrible, choppy, halting, unimaginative. I tried hard to find some merit in this book, and all I can say is it may have made a better screenplay/movie. Maybe.

I won this book in the First Reads giveaway.

The first installment in the Den of 13 series, Gothic Prophet is an excellent novel that draws the reader in to the plight of Alexander and his companions. I found this novel entertaining and challenging to anticipate what would happen next. I heartily look forward to the continuation of this story in years to come.

I could NOT put this book down. Anticipation was on every page, as was the excitement. The author's descriptive writing put me right there with the characters.. I could almost smell the blood!
