An eclectic collection of poems. The variety of the work is the main strength of the collection. There are prose poems, couplets, and different forms of line break poetry.
'Photograph from Berlin' is excellent evocation of a single moment captured within one poem. B.C.: Before Clinton utilizes Onomatopoeia within the work to excellent effect. In addition, there are two poems that reflect paintings: 'Amantes Sin Tiempo' focuses upon a single work, while 'Carlos Alfonzo' broadly presents the feel of the paintings from the artist.
The work presented within the collection is uneven. Quality writing is sporadic at best. However, as with any poetry, if you don't like then it is on to the next one.
Every year we get a bunch of high school students who need poems by a variety of different kinds of authors. This is great for the central American author category. It even has a complete bibliography in the back that has all of the information they need on the author.
The best poem in it is called "Marked" and it's by Carmen Tafola.
