I have worked with my husband building and decorating custom homes for years. After loving every kind of vampire book, movie and series I decided that I wanted to know more. I can write a book I thought, how hard can that be? Well.... But I stuck to it and finished my first book Royal Blood Chronicles Book One in August 2009. I now have ten books and three novellas in the Royal Blood Chronicles, two in Phantom Lives, three in the adult dystopian Pathogen series, two in h thriller/mystery series Silken Ties, with Corporate Ties and Thorns of Revenge and 25 books in total. My parents always told me that I could do anything that I wanted, work hard, study and do it right. I believe that and live that way every day.
I started writing this new vampire series for teens and their moms because I myself wanted something different to read. I was tired of all the modern versions of vampire books, there had to be more to these long lived beings. Where had they been what had they seen? I wanted, no I NEEDED to know more so Royal Blood Chronicles was born! As in Royal Blood Chronicles, Phantom Lives features strong female characters and action and adventure mixed with romance, friendship and a historical backdrop

"The Protectors" by Elizabeth Loraine
Book two of Elizabeth Loraine's “The Protectors” is outstanding. Right from page one the continuation of the five protectors takes you on their journey from Paris to Canada, and then to America where the five must protect all races from any harm coming to them. They also must kill a very powerful coven of vampires who are plotting to kill Katrina and her friends. New members will join the five protectors and aid them in the prophecy to protect all the races. Along the way Katrina and Damien will finally confess how much they truly are in love with one another. Katrina will lose her true love to sabotage, and now has even more pressure to try and save all the races from being killed. Danger is on the horizon and the five will have to travel back to to America. Will they be able to save everyone, and will Katrina's heart ever heal?
You will fall in love with Elizabeth Loraine's wonderful vampire series Called “The Royal Blood Chronicles.”. I know you will love this series as much as I do.

The Protectors, in my humble opinion, was better than the first installment in the Royal Blood Chronicles. There was more twists and a little bit more depth in the plot.
The five girls–Katrina, Kate, Eleanor, Rosalinda, and Areltta– are far stronger female characters this time around. They aren’t worrying or fretting constantly about dresses or men or the luxuries of the rich as they did in the first novel. It was good to read them as bold, confidant, kicking butt women. They are passionate about protecting their families and the peace between the different races. They are more determined and fierce-some.
The amulets, treated water tablets that help make them invisible, and new crimson blood are great parts to the story. The way the treated water can be used to protect humans from vampires is very different and imaginative. I like the scene where Katrina and the others are reading the map, sensing it to see what is happening in America. It’s a great scene to show the strength of the powers of the girls when together. But I would have appreciated more explanation on how the girls powers can be combined and why only through touching. Also, how they can sense what is happening in a whole other continent through a map. The powers are pretty cool but needed better explanation.
I like the fact that the author attempted to spice things up in this book by switching the point of views in which the story is told. But it didn’t work out very well. The story is told through Katrina’s point of view. Then switches in the middle of Chapter 8 to Damien’s which just made things confusing since Damien sounded just like Katrina. If the author didn’t specifically say who was narrating I really wouldn’t have known it was someone else. It would have been better if the author started a new chapter then wrote from a new character’s point of view. The dialogue throughout the entire novel is still to forced making it that much harder to appreciate anything else that was happening within the story. Luena’s point of view was decent, the dialogue is better than with the rest of the characters. The descriptions are too bland and rough: “We were still around a hundred miles away. We had entered a forest, but not just any forest. The trees were taller than some mountains and wider than most houses. I felt small and insignificant.” This is more telling than showing. A reader can barely imagine the scene in order to connect with what Katrina is seeing. It’s also annoying to constantly have the characters each describe what happened in the scene before they talk about it! Every chapter mostly consist of the characters retelling what the readers have already read with a bit lesser detail.
Katrina and Damien finally sleeping together was only good because the author didn’t describe the scene which thankfully, I am grateful for. But the fact that Katrina and Damien woke up the next day and never discussed what happened seemed wrong. It was Katrina’s first time with a man, she would want to talk about it before anything else happened. Also, the scene where Damien proposes to Katrina was just boring. For one, he asked out of no where and two, they just got back from a long journey into America where they had to face many battles. Shouldn’t there have been more romance? Shouldn’t Damien have asked Katrina’s father first? Again, the plot was too rushed. The pacing and fluidity of the story was just off. I didn’t really care about his proposal because there isn’t any time to really appreciate anything that happens in the novel.
Honestly, now, I have a hard time having respect for Katrina. In the first book, she falls for Quinn and has a relationship with him then gives him up for Damien. Then in this book she kisses some dude named Raven who is working for Luena. Then she goes after Tao. Whatever respect I had for Katrina I lost.
The constant use of the line “with his mind” or “with my mind” or “with her mind” was annoying! I don’t have to be constantly reminded that Damien can talk with his mind or the other characters. The reader will get the difference between when any of the characters are talking with their mind and speaking out loud. It’s not that hard.
Even though, there where many actions scenes to propel the plot forward, The build up of suspense and tension didn’t work because once again the plot was too rushed. The author tried too hard to make the action scenes have depth. I found myself even yawning when the characters were in battles because the action scenes just didn’t work. Readers barely have time to focus on the action at hand and it’s already over.
I will admit, I didn’t read the entire book, I just couldn’t do it. I jumped to the last chapter (there are fourteen chapters) but since I didn’t understand everything that happened I went back up to Chapter 13 and only read the beginning half then stopped. I just couldn’t connect to the characters or the story. I fell asleep at one point because of how bored I was. The ending was disappointing as well.
Even though The Protectors was better than the first installment, it’s still disappointing. I tried really hard to get into this book but had to force myself to read it and I still only got up to page 176 before I just didn’t want to waste my time anymore. I’m sorry to say but The Royal Blood Chronicles could use some much needed revision, especially, with the dialogue. The various concepts behind the plot are good but the execution needs some work. I wish the author the best of luck.

Welcome back to the second week of The Royal Blood Chronicles Book Blog Tour. Today I will be reviewing the second book of the series entitled,The Protectors. The Royal Blood Chronicles is a young adult teen vampire book that continues where book one, Katrina: The Beginning leaves off.
Katrina: The Beginning introduces the royal vampire family in this world. Katrina begins as an only daughter raised by her father, the ruler of the vampire family in the Old World. It introduces the main characters and the background of the series. Katrina meets her new "vampire sisters" and learns that they are destined to be the Protectors of the world. This role of the Protector is not only to protect the vampire race but also their Human watchers, the elves, witches, fairies and more in the story. At the end of book one, Katrina is happy and ready to take on the world.
The Protectors continues by delving into the girls backgrounds and allows you to get to know each one in more detail. The Protectors are:
* Katrina or Kat
* Katherine or Kate
* Rosalinda or Rosa
* Eleanor or El
* Arltetta or Letta
The author, Elizabeth Loraine, provides the reader with family trees of each characters as well as their race. The story is a resemblance of stories like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Each story is intricately woven into one strong story of power, passion, adventure, and love.
Each of the Protectors represent different personalities of strong female characters. The story is an example of strong female vampires who can fight and love at the same time. They are a great representation of multiple female archetypes that the female reader can identify with. Many times the vampires in the stories are powerful males that seduce helpless women but here the Protectors are the powerful and intelligent vampires. This is a rarity among vampire stories. It is a must read for any female fan of any age.
It is a story that you can read in one sitting because you can't put it down. It was easily my favorite of the three.
This book would be a wonderful gift for both the teenager who loves Eclipse but is looking for more of an active female character as well as those adults who love the adventures and stories of traditional epic heroic tales.

Following Katrina in her adventure has been a delight. The Protectors delves right into the story with a very natural rhythm. Although I would consider the Royal Blood Chronicles to be targeted towards young adults, this series has been crafted to maintain the deserving attention of all. Katrina as the heroine of the story allows you to believe in her destiny, her conviction, and her power. Book two of Loraine's Royal Blood Chronicles bridges continents and cultures with vivid descriptions and twists of plot that will leave you curious for more.
The Protectors was a page-turning straight through read for me. Not a book that would gather dust in my mind. From cover to cover your imagination is taken on a well laid out action-packed adventure. If you are picking this book up as your first introduction to the series, you'll love it because you can jump right in and won't feel like you're missing out on anything. The author has balanced the right amount of history with the progression of the story. Interwoven through the book are threads of romance, love, and deep-rooted friendship. If you are following the Royal Blood Chronicles be surprised at the twists of fate Loraine has developed, they may throw you for a loop. I can't wait to see what happens in Book Three "The Dark Prince".

This is my opinion and will try to articulate as best as I can my reading experience. No fancy in depth analysis on style, grammar, symbolism etc. I'm not doing A level English again!
Another good read but the same quick plot twists and pace. A lot of moving around countries. Yes, I get it. Vampires can travel fast but sheesh.
Now heroine seems to be having trouble will all the guys falling for her, one guy even jokes that the men have to be protected from her.
Just feel that the 'closeness'/relationships of the protectors with each other, and with their bfs/family/friends etc; their characters hasn't been fully developed - they're just 'are'.
One scene I liked was when they communed with the North American spiritual energy, however you want to phrase it. And their mission there.
Same fallbacks as the other book but am enjoying the series and shall continue.
*Having read the series to the most recent book, I now find myself irritated with the editing of this book series, particularly as this book is a second edition.
I'm not an expert on such things but with the amount of errors that reoccur, and the fact that a novice such as myself is getting irritated means you're in trouble.
I thought the purpose of new editions was to add to or fix errors. This has not been done as punctuation errors etc remain unchanged.*

This book followed right after the first book, and continued Katrina and her friends on their adventures. It is definitely a series book, jumping right into the action without any back telling. The final 1/3 was mostly a set-up for the next book, which was quite disappointing.
Everything about this book seemed a bit too easy. Katrina and the girls never really face any obstacles that they might not overcome. It is hard to become invested in the story when you know there is nothing uncertain that will happen. I know reading it that every time the group faces an obstacle, they discover their powers have grown and they can easily overcome it. There is no learning, no struggle, no possibility of failure. It makes for a boring read.
Katrina herself is no more interesting. I found I liked her even less, mainly because of her actions with the boys. She is apparently deeply in love with Damien now, and yet still kisses someone else and hits on a third guy. Without ever batting an eyelash or feeling bad about it. Ugh.
Overall, I couldn’t connect with the story or the characters, and so, this book just isn’t for me. With a stronger main character and a little less certainty, this would be an entertaining read.

As soon as I got reading The Protectors I was thrilled to see how the book started off with Quinn and Katrina. I was always Team Quinn. However, Katrina is deeply in love with Damien. Although he is a decent guy and all, I stand by my preference of Quinn. It is nice though, to see how Damien’s and Katrina’s love develops and deepens as the story continues.
While reading the book I realised that there was many characters and also new characters are also being introduced. It was hard to keeping up but I really liked the unique names each character had. It was nice seeing how their personalities grew.
In The Protectors there’s more action, thrill and suspense than the previous book, Katrina: The Beginning. I was really focused and this kept me wanting to read more as I just had to know how the book was going to end off. I don’t want to give any spoilers but there is a lot going on in this book. I really like the series so far, it has a great deal of adventure. This is book #2 & both books leave you wanting the next one right away to see what lies ahead for everyone. In The Protectors now we see the FIVE girls coming together to defend all the races & to strive for peace. They find that they can not do it alone & must trust their instincts to lead them & choose the ones that will join them in the fight to save the races from the evil that wants to destroy & rule the world. The Proctors takes the girls to Paris were they will rid the world of an evil threat but they have not fully succeeded & will have to fight harder than ever to destroy the ones that seek to destroy everything they have. Kat sees tragedy in her own life but knows that she must go on. Kat pushes herself to listen to the energy around her & do what she must to survive & succeed. I am anxious to read the 3rd book. But I admit I need a brake from this story. These books are very long & you get much more than you pay for that is for sure.

I liked this book, but didn't love it. I like the characters they were interesting and all had their own story line. I love Tao! There was so much potential for this book to grab me, but the characters were too powerful. There was no challenges or strong conflict. The protectors are five female friends, and they are as close as sisters. I expected some kind of small conflict between them but they get along and seem to agree about everything. Anytime dangerous was around the corner they saw it and cut it off before it happen. The romance felt a little stale. And the main character seemed to to flirt with every man that showed interest, which was any male character not already paired off. I really enjoyed the side characters though and want to read more. I want to know what will happen next even though action wise I felt like everything was tied up in a neat little bow. I do look forward to reading the previous and next book though, I am tied to the characters and most know what happens.

i love the uniqueness of this storyline which is hard to come by with the gazillion vampire stories out there.
it's the perfect blending of vampires and magic and fantasy. very well done.
great writing style and character descriptions.
it only started to slightly annoy me how much these super vampires ate and slept. they had full courses many many times a day and it was a very large part of the story filler. every discussion and meeting seemed to take place over a giant meal. and the naps.... i was having a hard time trying to figure out how many days had passed when really it was just one that included several naps and meals. the story is so great though, that that wasn't enough to take away from it.
the editing is better than katrina, in which it was so horrid it lost a star. this one appears that someone at least went over it once or twice. though it's not perfect.... it's better. so five stars from me.

Again, this was a great book by Ms. Loraine. I find her writing style very fast paced and I like that. The character's have grown into their powers and it's getting exciting. I love the addition of the guys and they help strengthen the Protectors. I'm anxious to see who is included in the group next. And there are Elves, I love elves!! My name does mean Elf Ruler....so I'm partial. :) Anyway, I'm very glad that this book is about more than just vampires and humans. It makes me think of Lord of the Rings and that's a great story to be compaired too. I'll soon get book 3 and I'm sure I won't be able to put it down like the first two.

Okay it didn't get any better and I couldn't bring myself to finish this book. I think if your a girlie girl you may enjoy the rantings between the five girls. I have a hard time believing Katrina is the leader and it feels unnatural. The men and women let her do whatever. For heaven sakes the romances between the characters need more development. Oh I'm attracted to you and so we are a couple. Like some genie gives you a wish and it's done. Really? I had some hope that this book would be better than the first especially with the rating going up with each book in the series. Disappointment...

I love reading how Katrina and the girls have really come to tearms with what and who they are. Also who joins the good or evil clans. I can't wait to see what happens in The Dark Prince. I am addicted to these books!! I just love the story line, lots of action and love for family and friends. There is so much magic in the writing that is just lovely. I'm still a Quinn fan and hopes he stays inthe story through it all, but Damien really stepped it up too. I'm shocked and sad but you have to read the book to find out why. :)

So as I stated in my last review I absolutely 100% do NOT get the reason why Kat and Quinn aren't together. I hate it! I do love Damien now, he's great but with knowing Quinn's story and the beginning of a love we barely saw, I can't support Kat and Damien... It's depressing all around.
This book was good, again it felt rushed, but I'm invested now, the families are great. So we shall see if I'm happy in the end..

Captivating
This series has me caught in its web and my husband may never forgive me for purchasing them all in one go! Lol. I may have to wait until my birthday next month and the wait for the rest may just kill me! I honestly love this series. The storyline is memorable and action-packed and the characters are unforgettable. I love that it seems as though the story will never end!

Loved it! Again the poor proofreading let it down. I will contuine with series though as the Author is amazing as well as the storyline.

This book was an edge of your seat book, you wanted to know what happened next and you wanted to know what Katrina can get up to with her friends. I couldn't get enough of knowing more about her and her love interest of Quinn and also Damien.
