FINALLY!!!

Yes, I really wanted to read this book! What can I say!

Crave for me was one of the best books I've read this year and I really couldn't wait for second book to come. I got to say that first thing I liked in this book is that the story continued, not like in the other sequels, first you have explained everything what happened in the first book and then the rest of the story. I mean, who reads sequel if he didn't read the first book first?!
Then, I really wanted this book to be as good as Crave, but to tell you the truth it is not. There is no emotions, and something is missing. Book is really interesting but it's not enough. And yes Shay was really pain in my *** in some parts of the book, really annoying. But Gabriel, eh Gabriel *dreaming*, you got to LOVE him.
All in all, nice book, but Crave deserves better sequel!

I had some issues with Crave, mostly the main character’s bratty behavior and the speed at which their relationship progressed into undying love. Crave ended with a huge cliffhanger so when I saw Sacrifice on Galley Grab, I really wanted to know how the story ends. I’m happy I did because I like Sacrifice more than I liked Crave.

Sacrifice begins exactly where Crave ended with Gabriel taking Shay to his coven believing that they will help and protect her because she is half-vampire. Turns out Gabriel could not have been more wrong and his family hates her. The tables are turned in this book so instead of Gabriel being held captive by Shay’s family, Shay is now the prisoner.

Shay’s character is significantly matured in Sacrifice, it’s almost like she is a different, much more likable girl. If you can look past the idea that they have know each other for about two weeks, you will appreciate the level of commitment that Gabriel and Shay make to each other. To be together, the couple has to fight against the horrible prejudices and the intense level of anger and bitterness that their families feel toward each other. I really wanted these two to be together and that’s not something I thought I would say after reading Crave.

I enjoyed Sacrifice, it makes the series worth reading. It’s a quick read, fast paced and I think anyone who likes YA vampire romance will also enjoy this.

Good:
I sat here trying to think of something to write and the only thing I could think of was the ending... not that it finally came to and end but the action that occurred. The action happened all at the ending and I have to admit I did enjoy some of the ending
Shay’s Mom: Shay’s mom was the only other thing that I thought of as good in this novel. I viewed her perfectly, and her evolution from the first novel was one that I liked. At first I thought she was just delusional but I found her strong and determined in this sequal.
Bad:
The novel was a disappointment. Perhaps my hopes were up too high because I love the first one but this one was not a book I enjoyed and I actually wanted to stop reading it at one point.
Shay and Gabriel: Their love for one another was very confusing in this novel…although I understand where Shay comes from when she gets mad at Gabriel I found it weird that she just flips a switch in the time of need, but really the time of need was earlier on in the novel and that caused her character to lose some respect points with me and then everything just seemed to drop from there.
Ernst: Like Shay this character seems to have almost a split personality in this novel, one minute very strong the next crying on the ground. I found that the evolution of this character and others in the novel was hard to find realistic even for a fiction supernatural novel.
Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):
Overall I felt like the author’s lost their story and just had no clue where their story was going. That’s not saying that their writing wasn’t well done and the story had potential. However, it felt like there was a great amount of repetition—Shay convincing herself that she didn’t love Gabriel and going over the reasons why multiple times—without any real events or important events actually happening in the novel. I guess its fair to say the same can be said for the first novel, but I felt that it being a sequel their should be more instead it felt like a short story dragged on too long and repeating the character’s thoughts on events too many times.
And finally: The characters didn’t feel like the same characters from the previous novel. And some characters I was actually disappointed in.

Having learned Shay is a half-vampire, Gabriel takes her to his family, expecting she will be welcomed with open arms. He's shocked to discover that they consider her an abomination that must be destroyed. First, they'll use her as a lure to exact revenge on her stepfather, not caring that she grows sicker with each passing moment. But the stepfather stages a daylight ambush, and Gabriel is forced to choose between Shay and his family, with disastrous consequences for all. Now it's his life on the line, and after what Shay's seen in her latest visions, she's not sure she wants to save him.

This is a fast-paced novel with plenty of action sequences. The real beauty of it lies with the characters, though. It's ultimately a story about choice and the grey areas that surround it. Each character is forced to confront their own beliefs, weighing their emotions against reality and often coming up wanting. There's what you want and what is right, and what happens when the two are not the same.

For Gabriel and Shay, it's a time to examine relationships. Gabriel's family has stunned him with their actions, and he's forced to reevaluate his position, and recognize his own failings. Shay's testing loyalties; revealing the truth about herself and hoping to be accepted. Saved by Gabriel, betrayed by Gabriel, she must build a world without him in order to let him in.

There's a lot of near death and destruction here, but it doesn't weigh the narrative down. Twists and turns abound in the plot; nearly every character goes through a journey of self-awareness and comes out on the other side with more questions than answers. It's a real story, one where endings, happy or otherwise, are only as good as you make them.

3.5 Stars!

Sacrifice picks up within hours of where Crave left off. They have made it to Gabriel’s family in Tennessee…and they are not happy about “that abomination” aka Shay. They immediately lock her up and proceed to starve her to death. Things don’t go according to plan especially since Shay’s evil Step-Dad is out there and hell bent on capturing a vampire to continue experimenting on.

I thought this second book was better than the first. The history was established and the story could go forward rather than focus on the past…although we do focus on the past a bit to discover who Shays biological father was and what happened to him.

While through most of the book it looks as though there aren’t going to be any happy endings…one does finally show up in an unexpected way. This book had the same easy reading style as “Crave”, and was still a bit predictable, but enjoyable nonetheless. The authors did leave room for a third, but I don’t think one is necessary…this book tied up the loose ends quite nicely.

My rating for this book is 2.5 stars.

Personally, I enjoyed the Crave series – I thought it was an interesting twist of being half vampire half human. And it should have been obvious that the main character, Shay was half vampire and half human but it didn’t hit me until it was revealed and then I felt extremely dumb for not figuring out the obvious sooner. Granted, I was slightly distracted while I was reading these two books but still.

Anyways, basically this book is about Shay who was born with a rare blood disorder where she forced to have transfusions every few days otherwise she’ll be too weak to even do anything normal so for her entire life, she was coddled and spoiled by her mother who would do anything for her little girl. And yes, Shay was extremely spoiled. There was one scene where she wanted her favorite drink, pomegranate juice, and she knew they ran out of them yet she didn’t say anything until her mother went to look for it, found out that they no longer had any, and quickly volunteered to run out to the store just so Shay could have her precious juice. And Shy didn’t even say, nah, it’s okay, I can drink something else. What. Needless to say, I did not really like Shay. Plus, after she started the new transfusions, she went on this total adventure of trying to be “normal” by making out with her best friend’s boyfriend and then getting drunk and dragging this poor guy with her to swim to this little island at night just to prove that she was stronger and normal now. In short, she was a complete and utter spoiled brat. I mean, I did feel some sympathy for her due to her mysterious illness and how sheltered she was for her entire life but it did not allow her to treat others around her like trash and speak to them thoughtlessly.

Gabriel, on the other hand, was much better than Shay. He grew up with his vampire family and when he was of age and was given the choice of becoming one like them, he took it and has lived with his family ever since. Like Shay, he grew up being loved by his family and maybe because he was a vampire, he liked to experience life to the fullest but he would not take unnecessary risks like Shay did with her little adventure. He was caring and he loved his family and would do anything to protect them. Until he met Shay and decided to risk his family by protecting her instead. The one thing, well actually two things that got me a little confused were the fact that 1) when Shay was tied up and put in the vault rather than being welcomed by open arms from his vampire family, he didn’t actually do much to save her. All he did was think about saving her but no actions until her stepfather came and he suddenly decided to put his entire family at risk by saving her when he had a better chance of saving her before. And 2) what did he even see in her? Yes, she saved him from her stepfather but she’s so spoiled. The romance between the two just seemed incredibly unlikely and unrealistic.

The writing style was okay I suppose. Nothing too special – the one thing I did not particularly like was the journal entries that Shay wrote. It was pointless and basically summarized the events earlier on. The story plotline also had some holes in it. How did Martin find out about vampires in the first place? Why couldn’t anyone figure out what was wrong with Shay? Granted, it was a “mysterious” illness but with all of those transfusions throughout her entire life, someone had to know something by now.

All in all, I still enjoyed the book – it was interesting to see a different perspective on vampires and halflings but there were plot holes and the characters were not particularly likable.

This review kicks off a quick series of upcoming vampire-related reviews. Yes, I'm happy to have been reading about vampires these past few days (Twilight didn't scare me off--just kidding, loved Twilight!).

While I really liked Crave much more, Sacrifice, I have to say, is a solid sequel and conclusion to this twosome series. I think I liked this one way more than others normally would, especially after the greatness of Crave, but it managed to rip emotions out of me that gave my family an excuse to look at me like I'd grown a giant green head. It was imperative that I get the rest of the story, and I'm so happy I finished the series.

As entrancing as Crave was for me, I think I shed a lot more tears this time for round two. Probably because I adore the characters so much. Sick girl with a strong will and a Heart of Gold. I think I've mentioned this before, HoG girls are my undoing. And when they're loyal and forgiving and loving like Shay, I can't help but fall for 'em. More, when an HoG girl meets her match and proceeds to heal his scarred heart and drive away the hate, well, color me delighted. The match here is Gabriel, and when I spoke about Crave, I mentioned that not only is he every girl's fantasy physically, but he's also sensitive and intelligent and deeply good, even though he couldn't believe it of himself at first. In Sacrifice, there's a lot more rehashing of his sad, sad past, which delves into particular memories of the horrible fate of a character who became dear to me throughout the course of book one. In came the sobbing and hurting.

Although I enjoyed Sacrifice for the lovable characters and the intensity of the 'race against time' plot line, I admit I wasn't as interested in Shay's POV as I was with Gabriel's, most likely circling back to the fact that I was more interested in learning more about what went down in the past than concerning myself with the present. That dreaded history kept me more absorbed than anything else. Still, the danger in the book makes for pulse-pounding, speedy turns of the pages.

In the end, though, I was satisfied. The conclusion could be termed bittersweet, but I'm happy with the way things ended, despite all the bad that had to happen first. Sacrifice, though not as impressive as Crave, is a sound conclusion to a very well-written, profound series that places an emphasis on choice, atonement, and what it really means to love and forgive. Even if it's not to continue the Crave series, I sincerely hope that Metz and Burns keep writing more books together, because, evidently, they're a successfully matched writing pair.

WHILE SAM WAS SLOWLY DYING, GABRIEL HAD THOUGHT THERE COULD BE NOTHING WORSE THAN THE HORROR OF HIS DESPERATION. BUT HE'D BEEN WRONG.
THE WORST THING WAS THE END. GABRIEL WAS THE LAST TO DRINK FROM HIS BROTHER BEFORE THE ENTIRE FAMILY DRANK TOGETHER, TAKING THE LAST OF SAM'S BLOOD. GABRIEL FELT IT AS HE DRANK... SAM WAS NEARLY DEAD. GABRIEL PULLED AWAY, REMOVING HIS EYETEETH FROM SAM'S THROAT. HE'D AVOIDED SAM'S GAZE SINCE THE RITUAL BEGAN, EVEN THOUGH HE COULDN'T AVOID SAM'S EMOTIONS BLASTING THROUGH THE COMMUNION.
BUT THIS LAST TIME HE COULDN'T HELP HIMSELF--HE MET HIS BROTHER'S EYES.
SAM WAS LOOKING BACK. "YOU ACT OUT OF LOVE FOR YOUR FAMILY," SAM WHISPERED. "SOMEDAY YOU'LL REGRET YOUR PART IN THIS, AND WHEN YOU DO, REMEMBER... I FORGIVE YOU."
THAT WAS THE WORST PART. THE WORST MOMENT OF GABRIEL'S LIFE.

When I saw Laura J. Burns and Melinda Metz's Sacrifice in Galley Grab's July's issue, I shouted with joy! Having read Crave not too long ago and it ending with a cliffhanger agonized the reader within me! So since I saw it available over a month early I was super happy.

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU HAVEN'T READ CRAVE YET (and you really should! Click here for my review) THEN PLEASE DO NOT READ FURTHER FOR THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!

We pick up immediately where we left off with Gabriel and Shay receiving a not-so warm welcome from Gabriel's family. In fact, Shay was hauled off and called an abomination. They know that she is the daughter of Sam--their once brother vampire--yet they don't care really for her mother is human. She is locked away while Gabriel has a much more confusing welcoming.

Gabriel is upset by his family's reaction. Since he loves Shay, he assumed his family would look past their judgement of humans and welcome her. Not only is she part human, but she's also part vampire--hence the abomination. Gabriel soon realizes that he must get Shay out of his family's home or else very bad things were going to happen. For nobody messes with a member of this vampire family and lives. The family plans to get their revenge on Martin and use Shay as bait. And then kill her afterwards of course.

It was kind of agonizing to read for awhile (and I did get this done in 1 day! Whoohoo!). Not because it was bad, but because the suspense was killing me. So in a way that's good! Suspense is good! I just wish I could read a lot faster sometimes! We don't ever get to know if Shay and Gabriel will be okay. Things just keep happening and keeping them apart. And with the talk of Ernst and the others wanting to kill Shay as much as Martin, Gabriel is torn between the two. And having such strong confliction between wanting to help the person you love and the family that you love can be very trying on a person, be they vampire or human.

And even as I'm enjoying the exiting beginning, I was so not prepared for the book to just keep getting better and better! There was literally never a dull moment for me. Sure there were some more "downtime" moments where the action wasn't as high, but the tension was still rising. The middle was awesome and the last quarter of the book held me riveted! I didn't want to stop reading at all! Was so psyched to have finished it in a day as well. It was truly wonderful!

The ending was both shocking and surprising! Sure I was expecting something big to happen, but you're still never really prepared for how big it will be. Even if you make a guess it still comes as a shock. At least for me! So yeah, big shocking, surprising ending! Things get tied up rather nicely so I'm not sure if there would be another book or not. There doesn't seem to be an loose plot threads that stood out to me. Of course there's always room for more development, only time will tell I suppose.

Overall rating 5/5 stars

Shay trusted Gabriel when he said that if he brought her to her family compound, that she would be safe. Ever since finding out that she was Sam’s daughter, half vampire and needing vampire blood to live, she had hoped that she would find acceptance. She never suspected that his family would treat her like an abomination. Gabriel never thought about that either. Here Shay was a prisoner once again.

Gabriel cannot believe how his family is acting. All his thoughts are on Shay and how he must rescue her. He tries to convince his family that Shay being Sam’s daughter, she is one of the family. He tells Ernst, his father, about how Martin locked him up for a blood mule, and Ernst wants to use Shay as bait to lure Martin there so they can get their revenge. Ernst and the rest of the family are appalled when they learn that Gabriel loves Shay. This doesn’t bode well for him or for Shay. In this book, you learn whether or not their love is strong enough to bear the scrutiny of Gabriel’s family and his past.

I thought this book was a good sequel to Crave. I’m not sure if there are going to be any more books in this series, but it will be interesting to read them. I thought that Sacrifice was well written and the characters have good personalities to them. I don’t like them all, but that is what makes them unique. This book has a good assortment of mixed feelings, including the war between family, what is right and the person you love. I like the balance that Sacrifice and Crave possesses of these emotions.

I Like:
•The communion the family members have with each other.
•The characters. They all have their own background story and are well-developed.
•The feelings that Gabriel has towards humans as a result of Shay.
•Finding out more about the story with Emma and Sam.
•Emma. Shay’s mother. She does everything for Shay. That doesn’t stop in this novel. In the beginning, she has flown to Miami thinking Shay was there.
•Ernst. Again, this book has multiple characters in which you love to hate and hate to love them. They are both good and bad and Ernst is one of them. He is the “father” of the family that Gabriel belongs to.
•This is another like/dislike. The prejudices that the characters have: I don’t like them, but I like how they are dealt with in this story. That is all I’m going to say so that I don’t spoil anything.

I Did Not Like:
•How Gabriel’s family treated Shay.
•Martin. Again, he has made it onto my lists, this time on the opposite side. At the end of Crave, you learn that Martin is doing this all for himself, for glory and not for Shay. That continues on in this story.
•The Blood rituals. I don’t know where Ernst came up with these rituals.
•Some of Gabriel’s family. It is understandable why they think and act the way that they do, but that doesn’t excuse it.

I'm not sure why there are two books in this series. It really could have been combined into one.
Anywho, I liked the story. It was interesting and pretty original, I thought. I had a hard time liking Shay at first because she acted so bratty to everyone. But I suppose it's forgivable given her situation. And the fact that she acknowledges that it wasn't ok, later on.
But I really did like the story. I just hesitate giving it more than 3 stars because there were some things that really bugged me about the whole thing. First of all, Gabriel falls for Shay a bit too easily after centuries of hatred for all humans. And especially after being held captive and used as a guinea pig by a few, for a month. But it is fantasy, so again, I can overlook that.
What I can't seem to overlook, though, is how incredibly stupid he was to bring Shay to his family, thinking everything would be all peachy because she was Sam's daughter. No one could possibly be that stupid knowing what they all did to Sam because of her.
I also have a hard time buying that any of them really had the familial bond they all seemed to treasure so highly, given the way they brutally turned on the best one of them for daring to love the enemy. I could see banishment or a fight resulting in Sam's death, but not the organized murder they all went along with, thinking it was right.
And it's pretty unbelievable that Sam would grant his forgiveness as they were killing him. It'd be believable, given his personality, if it wasn't for Emma and Shay. For all he knew they'd hunt them down as soon as he was dead. And I don't see him being forgiving about that.
I also think that since they killed Sam, who they'd loved and lived with for hundreds of years, they would have been bent on hunting down the woman who had corrupted him in their eyes. Especially considering their thirst(haha) for vengeance.
I find their willingness to repeat the process with Gabriel unrealistic. Even given the fact that he was somewhat responsible for Richard. Gabriel might have felt a little more guilt than the others because he's the one who told Sam's secret, but the others would have been consumed with the same guilt and self-loathing as he was. Well, maybe except for Tamera since she hardly knew him.

I think if Sam had died some other way, it would have been much more believable.
Still, I thought it was a good story, if somewhat cheesy at some parts and certain things feeling a bit rushed and too easy at other ones.

This review can originally be found at Within Pages.

I can't figure out where I want to start with this book. I was madly in love with Crave after my experiment of no reviews and an unknown title. There was so much to love about the story; I loved the spin on vampire lore just as much as I loved the characters.

The first book ends with a monstrous cliffhanger and in one of the smoothest transitions I have ever read, Sacrifice picks up in perfection at the exact following moment. This was an exciting to start to the book; however, the thrill didn't continue to propel excitement through the first chapters. This was the only problem that I had with this book. In the first book, we had such intricate details of the characters coupled with a great and enticing story that pulled you through the entire book. In the beginning of this book, we are left with our desire to have more Gabriel and Shay but not the pull of what was coming next. It was, in the beginning, a constant ebb and flow of "I love Shay and need her" or "Gabriel loves me, he will find a way here" and any combination thereof with the two of them confessing their eternal love in the confines of their mind.

Once we break free of that cycle, it changes and the action picks up and we get a sense of the Shay that we fell in love with in the first place. We see "realistic" situations and scenarios as Shay takes on the world. In this book, we are introduced to tragedy, betrayal, and sacrifice. I was expecting Sacrifice to be more of a central theme, but it is only there, fleeting in the background and ending in a shocking turn of events.

Overall, I loved reading this book. I pushed through the lull of repetition to find a great story and a wonderful twist. So much of the background to the characters is woven into this story and I think it is a solid end, with no confusion and no questions. There is a possibility of another book, its end is not finite but leaves you with a solid feeling of resolution.

Favorite Quote (ARC): "'You're with me. That's all that matters'...Even though it wasn't all that mattered, it was the most important thing. To both of them."

Really good vampire YAs aren’t as easy to find as one might expect. It can be hard to find a new approach or a fresh take on the mythology to really capture the audience’s attention these days. Last year, Roswell author Melinda Metz, and TV show co-writer Laura J. Burns did just that with their innovative and deeply romantic CRAVE. This year, they follow up and finish the story they started with SACRIFICE. For those of us who screamed at the cliffhanger ending in CRAVE, fear not. SACRIFICE picks up just seconds after that.

One of the aspects that attracted me so much to CRAVE was the very believable and well paced romance that developed between Shay and Gabriel. They both had to overcome so much before they could even begin to look at each other as anything but the enemy. In SACRIFICE, Shay and Gabriel are ripped apart by Gabriel’s family from the first scene, so we don’t exactly get to revel in their hard won love. But we do get to experience Gabriel’s anguish and helplessness where Shay is concerned, and we follow Shay through her fear and later determination to be reunited with Gabriel.

We learn quite a bit more about Gabriel’s vampire family in SACRIFICE including Shay’s vampire father Sam. Everything is well written, and never dwells too long on any one supporting character before returning to either Shay or Gabriel. I appreciated this added insight into the vampires, but I missed the interaction between Shay and Gabriel. I also missed the YA high school feeling from the first book. If I didn’t know that Shay was a teenager, I would have thought she was an adult.

Overall, SACRIFICE and CRAVE before it offer a very unique vampire YA featuring a strong romance, harrowing threats, and portrayals of love in all it’s forms. Based on the ending of SACRIFICE, I believe this is the end of the Crave series, and it’s a satisfying one. Both Crave books should really be read together since they tell one main story: the dying girl who fell in love with an immortal vampire and the beautiful, occasionally heartbreaking romance that followed.

This review was originally published at Vampire Book Club.

Anyone who finished Melinda Metz and Laura J. Burns’ Crave was dying to get their hands on Sacrifice the moment they finished the first book. That’s because the cliff hanger was brutal. The momentum of the first book built slowly to this OMG moment and then just… stopped. And I was staring at that final page wondering just what Shay had gotten into. You may remember, the half-human, half vampire girl ended up falling for the vampire her step-father abducted. Gabriel’s thoughts on humans (and hybrids) changed drastically when he fell in love with Shay. They were both on the run from her meglomaniac step-dad Martin, and Gabriel thought his vampire family’s home would be the safest place for her.

Sacrifice kicks off where Crave left off: Gabriel and Shay’s arrival at his family’s home. And — surprise! — his family has similar, if not stronger reactions to Shay as Gabriel did initially. By that I mean they think she’s an abomination and quickly lock her up. Gabriel has to pretend he’s not head-over-heels for her, in an attempt to show them how insane it is to fear her. He wants them to understand she’s family.

All does not go to plan. Shock after shock batters both Gabriel and Shay. They fight for their lives, for potential happiness, for their families. And from the first page, Sacrifice charges forward with breakneck speed. The plotting is quick and engaging. This book had me muttering “no” repeatedly, and that’s a compliment. It’s intense tale permeated with devoted love.

To say more would spoil it, but if you liked Crave, you will absolutely love Sacrifice. Plus, I can’t help but love Shay and Gabriel together.

Sacrifice is an AMAZING sequel to Crave. I remember reading Crave and loving it so much, and the ending was just WOW. One of my concerns was that Sacrifice wouldn't pick up right where it left off. I've read some books that had a really shocking cliffhanger, and when you read the second book it takes place days later or hours later. Well not Sacrifice! Melinda Metz and L.J. Burns continue right where they left off. You are immediately sucked back into Gabriel and Shay's world. Sacrifice leaves you with your mouth open and at the edge of your seat just about every chapter. I felt so bad for them both. The way Gabriel loves Shay will give you goosebumps all over. The struggles he goes through trying to decide between Love and Family, broke my heart.

There were also some really good shocking and unpredictable moments. I don't want to give anything away, but let me just say that Metz and Burns really know how to keep you glued to the pages. I actually read this book in a day because it was one thing after another and I just couldn't put it down. I did have one or two issues with the book, but nothing serious. I was just really upset at some of the decisions Shay makes. I felt it was very immature and with everything she has been through you'd think she would have known better. My other issue was how easy it was for them to save Gabriel. But you will have to read the book to find out what I am talking about.

In the end, this was a great sequel with a little bit of everything in it, but most of all LOVE. I enjoyed Sacrifice a lot more than Crave, and I loved Crave so you can only imagine. Sacrifice has a happy ending that left room for a possible third book, but it can also end there. I personally, hope there is a third book. I can't get enough of Gabriel!

Hmmmm. What to say, what to say....

Not as good as the first one. But I would say that this book is based more on the darker part of Shay and Gabriel's relationship.
I love that they still stood together while Shay was being locked up though. And I love how Gabriel fought so hard to save her even though he was fighting against his family. He realized that the life that he's lived so far, isn't really the right one.
And I pretty much hate all of Gabriel's family even though there are some nice people in it and in the end they don't hate humans anymore.

And did anyone else not find it a big shocker that Gabriel and them killed Sam? I mean, it was horrible and all because I love Sam but it just made perfect sense that they killed him. And I hate that Shay left Gabriel after she found about it because it's like after everyone tried breaking them apart, Gabriel was the one who finally broke through. They got back together near the end though ^.^

I hate Shay's friend who will be unnamed because her name will annoy me. You're so not understanding. Bleh.

I'm actually glad that this series wasn't one of those series which was longer than it needed to be but I felt like the series should have been a trilogy. It could have went down like:
The first book; with Shay and Gabriel getting together and all that
The second book: and it could be like, Shay getting captured and Gabriel and Shay would escape some where with two groups chasing after them: Shay's mom and dad and then Gabriel's family.
The third book: Shay finding out about Sam and Sacrifice's whole ending thing

And yeah, I would have been cool with that happening :D

I wish there were more Shay and Gabriel scenes but yeah... I'm glad that Shay's mom accepts who Shay is and who she wants to be with though, very nice of her.

So yeah, 4 stars. The series starting with a bang and ended with a boom.

Thanks to S&S Galley Grab for this ARC.

Awesome sequel to Crave. I loved Crave and I loved Sacrifice just as much. It has everything in it, drama, romance, heartbreak (though I didn't like it much)...a little bit of everything with right pacing. I also liked that the story was said in third person and gives you POV of both Shay and Gabriel. Every character was likable, well except the villan. Author even pulled off making me sympathize with Tamara by the end of the book. (you will know why when you read it).

Shay:
- You gotta love a girl who can love, forgive, endure and still come out and fight for her love.
- Shay's emotions were very beautifully captured. Her love for Gabriel, her father. Her confusion when she finds out , everything I would have felt if I were in her shoes.

Gabriel:
IMO, In all of the book, Gabriel is the most complicated character to describe or picturize. He has all these emotions going on and frankly I don't know how he managed to get thru. He has love for Shay, love for his family, guilt over Sam's death. He is torn between his family and Shay and doesn't know what is the right thing to do and hard decisions to make.

Overall I loved reading this book. I don't know if there's going to be a sequel or not, but there definetely is room for it, especially from Tamara's side. This is short enough read that I finished it in one day. If you liked Crave, I am sure you will love this.
