Debbie Mazzuca always dreamed of becoming a published author, and thanks to the encouragement of her grandfather, author Dudley Copland, she never doubted her dream would come true.

Because her grandfather not only instilled in her a love of reading and writing but a passion for everything Scottish, she took a trip to Scotland in 2006. A slight detour had her touring the Isle of Skye instead of her grandfather’s home town of Peterhead. The magic of the highlands and the legend of a fairy flag captured her heart and her writer’s imagination. From there her debut novel, Lord Of The Isles, was born.

Debbie lives in Ottawa, Canada with her very own hero, two of their three wonderful children, and a yappy Yorkie.

Make that 4.5. Once again Debbie Mazzuca has written a story that I truly enjoyed. I'm surprise more people are not reading her book's here at goodreads.

This story held my interest right from the start. It had a bit more heat in it than Lord Of The Isle did. This is a series but you can read this as a stand alone with no problem. This book also had paranormal elements to it which I thought added to the story. It had some OH NO moments, made me cry at times and oh my what a fantastic HEA ending that had me full out laughing. Now I'm stuck wondering if I have to wait another year for Debbie to write the next book and have it released.

Aiden MacLeod’s half-brother Lachlan was born half fae. Aiden has spent most of the boy’s life protecting him from Aiden’s father who wanted to kill Lachlan when he was born. After one attempt on Lachlan’s life, his father falls off a cliff and dies.

When Princess Syrena’s father is murdered and then comes to her in a vision, he tells her of his half-fae son born in the human realm. She is to bring him back to the Enchanted Isles and make him his successor. Vowing to avenge her father’s death and to fulfill his last wish, she goes to the human realm to get her half-brother. Once in Scotland, she finds herself falling for Aiden, but he is a distraction she cannot afford right now. She cannot allow him to distract her from the mission at hand. But can true love be denied?

Warrior of the Isles by Debbie Mazzuca has action, adventure and a very hot pair of brothers that kept my attention throughout this historical novel. Aiden is strong, a protector with a truly good heart. He knows his brother is different but loves him with all his heart anyway.

Syrena is regal and likes who and what she is. She is strong enough to avenge her father and brave enough to try. I personally think she would have made a great successor, but her father wanted a son to inherit. I guess fairies were non-progressive this time period.

When you want a magical book with hot Scots and sweet romance, I highly recommend Warrior of the Isles.

Note: There is NO incest in this book.

Loved this book, it was just as wonderful as the first one if not more. I can say one thing, Debbie knows how to write suspense. I was intrigued from the beginning learning that Syrena is Princess and what all that entails, and then the twist at the end was perfect. I loved reading more about Aidan, and Lan, as well as Rory Ali and the rest of the gang, I am anxious to read more about them in the third book. I was completely into the Fae aspect that was much more present considering Syrena is Fae and it was perfect woven throughout. I hope we see more of Lan and that everything works out well in the end. I felt many times my heart twinge when ever something happened to the characters and it was hard to read about the sorrow that was almost it's own character. Although without it, the story would have been lacking.

A Fae princess on a quest in the Highlands looking for her half-mortal brother (Fae father, Mortal mother) and falls in love with his older full-Mortal Highlander brother.

At first, innocent and clumsy, she then takes a turn in the middle of the book and becomes a warrior princess with the help of a Merlin-like wizard and a magical sword.

Ok read but I feel the storyline is just a tad all over the place.

I have read a few historical highlander books over the years, not enough to be an expert, but enough to know what I like with my Highlanders. Debbie Mazzuca hits the mark with Warrior of the Isles. I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end and I couldn’t put it down.

In this story we have two main characters: Syrena a Fae Princess and Aidan a Scottish Laird/Warrior. Syrena is basically from Fae (another place) and after things that happen in the beginning of the book she’s forced to go to Isle of Lewis, where Aidan is the Laird. She has to find Lachlan (Aidan’s Brother) because her father (the King) is dead, and in fae society men believe women are incapable of leading. So, Syrena sets off to find her half-brother Lachlan to bring him back to Faerie where he can rule as the new King since he’s also part Fae and can take control of the throne. She has a wicked stepmother in this case as well but I’ll leave you to discover how she plays a part in the book.

There is also Aidan, whose had some traumatic experiences involving the Fae and leads him to not like the Fae at all and he’s extremely leery of it all. When his brother Lachlan was younger he could hear the fae, and it basically drove their father crazy that he could hear those voices so he kept trying to harm Lachlan. Aidan protects his brother throughout the years but still basically doesn’t like the Fae. There is a lot of emotional issues involved between the Hero and Heroine since the Hero doesn’t like the Fae (Aidan) and then there is Syrena who’s basically a Fae Princess. I bet you’re wondering how they are going to work that out right? Me too… Just kidding ;) Let’s just say if you like Highlander books and you like a touch of paranormal aspect to them, then you will LOVE this book! Keep in mind this is the 2nd book in the series, when I got it I didn’t realize it was in a series because the book appears to stand on its own just fine!

I did receive this book for Free to give my honest review. This did not affect the rating on the book and my rating/review is strictly my own opinion.

This is the way Highlander's are done! There may only be on Karen Marie Moning but she has put down her pen and left the Highlands so a girl must look elsewhere for the needed fix. Debbie Mazzuca is a fix and more.

I loved everything about Aiden and Syrena's lovestory -- kilts, swords, magic, fae, and rich, thick brogue. Did I mention there is hot sex too. It's not perfect but it's so close that I didn't have the heart to take off a star for the one or two irks I found. Aiden is a clan leader who has lived his life protecting his half-fae brother Lan. Syrena is the other half of the brother and she comes to claim her kin. There are so many problems involved in her mission that I didn't see how she was going to pull it off. Aiden doesn't make it easy for her because he hates the fae which makes it difficult for Syrena to be fully honest. Syrena has problems bigger than Aiden which she juggles while trying to win her brother's love so he can return to the fae lands with her. You see, she is a princess and her brother is the heir since their father was murdered. It's a hot mess by the time Lan disappears sending Aiden and Syrena on a journey to find the one person they love above all else. Of course, they must also find a way to have peace between them while constantly dealing with an endless supply of drama. If you are think angst, not so fast -- there are plenty of laugh out loud scenes to keep the reader out of the tissue box.

Ms. Mazzuca is very talented in her presentation of the gruffy Highlanders and the snotty fae. This book took me out of a reading funk I couldn't seem to shake. I would have read it sooner but of course, I had not checked my Highlander shelf for too long so I missed it. Never-the-less, I found it again and I am headed to book 3 straight away.

2.75 - 3 Stars

After meeting Aidan in book one, I was very excited to read his book. I was a bit disappointed and didn't really care for all of the magical part of the story. I felt like Aidan was ripped off from having a great story. I do recognize he needed to have some Fae aspect added to his story due to Lachlan, however, I really didn't like how it played out. I didn't like some part of the epilogue either when he's bedding his wife.

What I did like about the story
1. The humor
2. Rory, Callum, Aileanna, Iain, Fergus, Connor. MacDonald and Mrs. Mac all show up. However, what happened to Mari?
3. I LOVED LOVED LOVED Alex and Jamie, the "Demons" and how they are with their Uncle Aidan. lol.
4. I do like parts of the epilogue.
5. I liked the twists that came about.
6. I liked the relationship between Syrena and Aidan's family, especially the twins.
7. I liked and laughed at the things that happened when Syrena tried magic.
8. I really loved what Rohan was to Syrena at the end.
9. I liked that I was right mostly about the twist.
10. Steam factor
11. No swearing
12. Another Scottish highlander

Granted there were many aspects of the story I liked, I just couldn't get in to it like I did with book one.

What a great read! I thought I would've missed Rory but Aidan MacLeod and Princess Syrena took over in no time. As Aidan forced to deal with his hatred for Fae, he found out his brother, Lan, is half-fae, the love of his life, Syrena, a Fae princess. As a warrior with the responsibility to protect and serve his clan, his mind overrode his heart, even though everyone else saw the truth.

I loved the chemistry among the characters, especially Rory's twin boys. They were a joy and added so much color to the storyline. The depth of the plot combined with all highland magic and evil made this a fast-paced and exciting&nervous read.

Laird Aiden Macload & Syrena the Fae Princess....This seemed really long. Full of adventure and getting over long held prejudice Mortal/Fae issues. This goes with her other book Lord of the Isle a time-travel with Allienne (Ali) and Rory who are also in this book.

I wasn’t sure how I’d like this book. I enjoyed book 1 in the series due to it being a time travel/highland romance. I had expected this to be a time travel book when I originally bought it and was disappointed that it wasn’t a highland time travel romance but rather a historical romance that takes part in the fae realm and 1600 highlands of Scotland. I have to admit I was quit surprised and read it in under 24hrs in just 2 sittings. At first start I wasn’t warming at all, then suddenly I was absolutely hooked. The first book I’ve always loved and have reread quite often and is one of my favorites. I’m not one who normally loves fae romances... I’m so glad I finally gave this book a try after several yrs. I’m now not sure if I like book 1 or this book better. I found this one quite more suspenseful and creative. But is it really more so? Or am I’m just used to book one? Regardless, I simply loves this book and it will be added to my favorite rereads. I enjoyed both characters quite well and enjoyed that this book also included a lot of the secondary characters from book one in series. I haven’t bought book 3 in series before...but I definitely will do so now. I look very forward to Lachlan’s story. I recommend this series be read in order as it will make the best sense as characters carry over from previous books. I think this author did a great job. It was all quite imaginative. I highly recommend this book and this series. Definitely worth ready.

I actually give it 3.5 stars.

Syrena needs to find her half brother after her father (a horrid faery) is murdered. Her father wants him to take over his faery kingdom. This means she needs to go to the Mortal world because Lachlan is half mortal. While there, she falls in love with Aiden her half brother's older brother. I loved their romance but I think all the paranormal fairy parts distracted too much from the romance between Aiden and Syrena. There is a part where they are separated for a year. I did not think that added anything to the story and seemed very far-fetched to me.

It was a bit long and the storyline went all over the place but overall I liked it. I would not read it again however. (I read my books multiple times.)

Upon the death of her strong, capable and frankly abusive father, Syrena finds her world turned upside down. The Fae kingdom no longer has a direct successor as Syrena doesn’t have the strength of magik or character in order to lead. Instead, she’s forced into a tense but semi cohesive partnership with her step mother in order to keep the crown out of the hands of greedy warlords. Only when Syrena father’s spirit returns for a moment to inform her that not only was her murdered, but offers Syrena his sword with the plan to locate Syrena’s long lost brother.

So, into the mortal realm she goes and there she encountered Aidan. A handsome laird who takes her in, thinking she’s has lost her family. His brother turns out to be her brother although from different parents. Lachlan’s the result of a mortal’s affair with a Fae and Aidan’s own experience with her kind, makes Syrena hide who and what she truly is. Just as Syrena and Aidan grow closer, Syrena is ripped back to the Fae world and Aidan discovers her betrayal.

It's years later before they meet again. Syrena has trained with her father’s sword becoming a strong and independent female. Completely different then how she was before. When she returns to the mortal world again, it’s to discover her brother has been kidnapped and she’s forced to once again depend on Aidan to help her navigate this strange world.

This book was very janky and hard to follow. A lot of shit the author decided to leave out like Syrena becoming a badass warrior who defeats her enemies in an epic war. this occurs during the 2-year gap between Syrena and Aidan’s first encounter and their second. It’s jarring to see just how drastically Syrena’s character changes in that time to the point of her being a completely different person in the second half of the book. And I also cannot tell you how these characters ended up married. One day, their fighting over Syrena’s betrayal, then they’re married!

I thought this book was going to be about how Syrena has to fight to prove herself to rule her kingdom and then to realize her love of a mortal man is more worth it. Nope. As soon as Lachlan show’s up, Syrena gets the boot immediately regardless of how much she has trained to be worthy of the role. One aspect I enjoyed was the stepmother who had a rich and complex character. Neither truly good or truly bad, she was a creature who loved Syrena in her own way but was ruthless when it came to her own gains. All other characters were a flop for me.

When I first started reading this book I wasn't sure if I'd like it. The first chapter takes place where the Fae live and that's where we meet the main character named Syrena. She isn't really confident in herself because no matter what she does she can never live up to everyone else's expectations. Her father is King. She is the laughable princess that cannot do a lick of magic.

Then her father is murdered and comes back to see her to give her his sword (which she names Nuie). He tells her that she is to find her brother, Lachlan. The only problem is that he is in the Mortal world and he is half Fae & half Mortal.

She eventually finds her way to his world and meets hunky, dangerous, and sexy Aidan. Aidan is Lachlan's half brother ( I know, it's confusing but the author makes much better sense of it in the book). Sparks fly and they start falling for one another.

Long story short, this book is filled with lots of action. Love develops and Syrena becomes a much stronger woman that she ever imagined possible. The ending is wonderful.

Debbie Mazzuca writes some of the best romance. I was thoroughly impressed that this was her second book to the series. She is so talented and has a way of writing that I simply love.

I would recommend this book (as well as the first one) to anyone who loves a good historical romance and doesn't mind the magic involved. I like the magic and imagination that's thrown in. When a romance is this good, the other is just an added bonus.

Curl up on your couch and grab a cup of hot cocoa. Aidan and Syrena are ready to take you on a memorable journey through Scotland and the land of the Fae. You will not be disappointed.

Not as good as the first book. Syrena is really annoying, had higher hopes for Aidan. It's one thing to have the Fae play background to the book (like in Lord of the Isles), but when ones comes out and plays, I'm not really into it. Syrena is too weak for me and not the "oh the poor girl" kind of weak, the kind of girl you just want to smack upside the head and tell her to get over it.

Really, don't think I can continue. After the deep hatred Lan has for everything and everyone Fae, he forgives Syrena so easily and now she has him wrapped around her finger, all because she can't do magic and she untied his ropes after her friend tied him up and hung him from the rafters. PLEASE, sorry the deep emotion that Lan supposedly felt toward the Fae I feel cannot be so easily wiped away.

After being lied to (repeatedly), led to believe something else, Aidan still falls for Syrena. He may be able to get over the fact that she is Fae, but the killing point for me would be the continual lying and deceit on the part of Syrena. Omission or un-correction of the truth is still a lie in my book.

After about 3/4 of the way through the book, it started to get better. But it still didn't make up for the first part of the book.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I was hoping it was as good as the first, Lord of the Isles. I felt Aidan was too hard on Syrena and allowed his hatred of the fae to cloud his judgement too much. I also felt the love story took a back seat to everything else going on. I loved the first half. The love was beginning to develop then, I almost stopped reading about half-way through when To me it was very dark and not all that romantic. The beginning and the ending were probably the most romantic parts. The rest was just dark and too much other going on.

I am not ashamed to say I was screaming my head off when I read this part of the books and we delved into the fairy world and saw major characters from there developing relationships in the mortal world.

Syrena's character really annoyed me at the beginning but as I learnt from the first book you stay true to Debbie Mazzuca and she rewards you.

AND BOY DID SHE EVER!

An ALL FEMALE FAE army brought together by the weak Syrena who proves her prowess with Nutie or is it Nudie!

This was the second novel of the series I have read. Very good, great characters and lots of love between the two main characters.
Syrena is treated unfairly a lot! She starts out as a weak, self-questioning woman.
She tries desperately to reunite with a younger brother that wants nothing to do with her and in turn, finds she is in love with his mortal brother, Aiden.
Many times, I wanted to reach through the book and shake Aiden. He is a good person but blames himself for pretty much everything.
In the novel there are many twists and turns, plot climaxes and some shocking outcomes.
Worth every minute of the read!

DNF. I didn't like the worldbuilding and the heroine had a slightly "helpless" trope going on that irritated me.
