J.P. Bowie was born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. He wrote his first (unpublished) novel – a science fiction tale of brawny men and brawnier women that made him a little suspect in the eyes of his family for a while.

Leaving home at age eighteen for the bright lights of London, he found himself in the midst of a “diverse and creative crowd” that eventually led him to the performing arts. For the next twelve years he sang, danced and acted his way around the theatres of London and the provinces, appearing in shows with many famous British singers, actors and comedians.

After immigrating to the US and living for many years in Las Vegas where he worked for that incomparable duo, Siegfried and Roy, J.P. found himself entranced by the fair city of San Diego where he currently lives with his partner, Phil.

This was a good read and a little unrealistic in places. Doctor Mark Hamilton working for Doctors Who Care International and stationed at a refugee clinic in Darfur when he meets and falls in love with Sergeant Major Jack -Boomer- Caruthers. When he is kidnapped and sold as a sex slave to an old Prince Jack will do anything to get him back. This was a fast pace read with a lot of action in it. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.

I think all the 3-stars reviews have said what I am going to say.
I have few tips for anyone who wants to read this story, though:
1- It's full of hot love making scenes. Don't have doubts about that
2- The plot is quite interesting with few twists. It's a combination of action/adventure and murder/mystery which has been wrapped up in a thriller formula.
3- If you like a smart child in an MM romance, there is a lovely character here, named Ghali.

I also have some points for the people who love realistic stories like me:
1- Don't take the plot too seriously. It has some issues. Just focus on the relationship between Mark and Jack. If you can't like Mark, then put the book down. You won't enjoy it so much.
2- The story is not quite believable at some points. Sometimes I just had the feeling that I was reading a fluffy story. It's good to see that those moments don't occur much.
3- Jack is an Alpha male. If you don't like the idea, pick this book more cautiously.

This book is an interesting mix between an action/adventure, almost a thriller, and a very hot m/m romance. Neither one nor the other completely, it cleverly combines the elements of both genres into an interesting new whole. Personally, I really liked the fact it didn’t get too gritty – that wasn’t what I expected when I picked it up and I am glad the promise made in the blurb was kept. ‘Nowhere to Hide’ contained just enough tension and a few interesting twists to keep me interested, and more than enough romance to make it a very worthwhile read.

Marc, the doctor working in Darfur, is a very unusual physician. Well, maybe not that unusual – he is stubbornly dedicated to his patients, puts their health and safety above his own, yet he has some very dark secrets in his past that make him entirely human. I loved his ability to get things done, his dedication to both his job and Jack, and his unwillingness t bend to his kidnappers’ wishes. On top of that he is not afraid to physically fight whoever stands in his way.

Jack starts out as the stereotypical Aussie soldier – but quickly proves to be so much more than that. Yes, he is fiercely protective and tries to convince Mark to stay safe – but which lover wouldn’t? He is also man enough to admit he loves Mark and go after the dangerous men who have abducted him without heed for his own safety. His ability to show that he is vulnerable as well as strong make him a great guy to have around.

The developing relationship between these two men, against all the obstacles in their way, and under very dangerous circumstances had me glued to the pages. I loved the unfolding twists and turns, even though I hated the fact they made me wait for the happy end Mark and Jack definitely deserved. If you like action/adventure that isn’t too gritty and brutal, like your heroes to fall in love, and want to see the bad guys get what’s coming to them, you will probably like this story.

This was not as intense as I thought it was going to be. Mark was kidnapped and sold into slavery in a Darfur. Darfur is one of the dangerous and bloodiest regions. So I expected more grit which it didn't have and caused this to fall flat for me. The Villains have some really campy lines which I would have appreciated more if this was anywhere near dark.

The chemistry between Mark and hunky, Aussie Jack was smoking. Everything about Jack was right for me and where most of my enjoyment came from.

A good read on the whole but a few things kept it from rating higher for me:
1. Being an Australian myself, I found the Australian-isms so contrived it was uncomfortable - eg., most of us don't call Kangaroos Boomers - much more likely to just shorten it to roo,
2. Mark was almost TSTL for an intelligent guy - (by definition, doctors have to be fairly smart)
3. The instant bonding/love between various characters was annoyingly blatant.

The plot was quite good but the end product wasn't what it could have been...

Soldiers, doctors, action, adventure, sexiness! All things that I love in a story. Well, let me tell just how thoroughly this book has cured me of that love. I could enumerate all the things I didn't like/found preposterous/was offended by, but that list would likely be longer than the actual book. Which is only about 150 pages long. Suffice it to say that this book was really hard to take any kind of seriously.

Hot and fast-paced book!
Loved Mark and Jack together, all the action/adventure twists and turns and the sweet HEA :) I for one liked that the story wasn't too dark or gritty, since I'm not much of angst lover. Light and enjoyable read!

A great story of finding love in the desert. Hot chemistry between Mark and Jack are adorable. Dramatic scenes written of car chasing with machine guns with the baddies after them but that's just a small start of the drama. Sexy scenes and sparks fly with guys. Insta-lust to love, beautifully written.
Dr Mark was in Sudan in a make shift clinic helping those needing care.
A helicopter lands with an Aussie team with a wounded solider Dr Mark observes a gorgeous man with them.
Sergeant Major Jack Caruthur aka Boomer was Aussie Special Ops.  Jack and Mark spend a glorious night together and wanted more but danger intervenes.
A small boy was in camp who'd escaped some slave traders is in danger..

This was a great fast-paced action story about a doctor and a soldier in Darfur. Mark is an American doctor who works in a refugee camp when he meets Australian Sergeant Major Jack. The chemistry is instant and then the non-stop action begins when Mark is kidnapped to be sold as a sex slave. Some parts were a little far-fetched, but not too much that it became ridiculous. Overall, it was a great read and I enjoyed it a lot. It was never boring!!!

I love this book A LOT.
I had it for many years now and occasionally I come back to it to reread it.

If you want realism, you're in the wrong place.
But if you want sensual, steamy, insta-connection type of romance in a risky setting, this is definitely for you. It's hot and adorable. I really like the description of sex, it's raw without being over the top. The novel feeds you thoroughly throughout the entire plot. The ending is very satisfying.

Reviewed by Stacey: Nowhere to Hide by JP Bowie is a good mix between an action story and a steamy romance. Mark Hamilton is a doctor working in a refugee camp, stationed in Darfur, with Doctors Who Care International. Some special ops soldiers make an emergency stop to treat one of their men and this is where he meets Sergeant Major Jack 'Boomer' Caruthers. It is instant attraction between the two. After a passionate evening together, they know they what more evenings together. Because this is Darfur, it is a very dangerous and volatile area. Mark is kidnapped from the camp while trying to protect one of its patients and sold as a sex slave to an exiled prince. When Jack learns of this, he leads a rescuemission to rescue Mark. Here the action really ramps up. The rescue was what you would see in an action movie. Mark goes back to his camp against Jack’s insistence that he stay away for his own safety. Of course, Mark is kidnapped again and it’s up to Jack to risk his life to save the man he loves from evil sex traders.

I thought this was a really good read. There was loads of action and the attraction between Mark and Jack is smokin’ hot. If you like big tough alphatypes that can kick some serious butt, but then turn around and not be afraid to show their man how much they love them, then Jack and Mark are your guys. The back stories on each character were interesting and added to each character. Thes toryline of the boy, Ghali, added another interesting level that gave the storyeven more warmth. Overall, this was a fun read that didn’t take long to read. I enjoyed the fast pace, action, and steamy sex. I’d definitely recommend this book to others.

I enjoyed reading about Mark, a young physician stationed in Darfur, Sudan with Doctors Who Care, and Jack, a Sergeant Major with the Australian Special Ops serving on the UN peacekeeping task force. I thought they were very hot together and the sparks flew from the very beginning. The story also brought home the dangers for people living and working in such an unstable and volatile part of the world, and the humanitarian workers there are to be commended for their bravery and selflessness. While the storyline was very gripping with plots of poverty, slave trading and rebel warfare, I thought it could have been even more intense if the plots hadn't been quite so easily resolved each time (i.e., Mark's abductions and the threats of torture against Jack). While it was great to see Jack come to the rescue with guns blazing, and although there was clearly danger surrounding them at any given moment, it wasn't quite as dramatic since Mark had basically been living in the lap of luxury while abducted. I was expecting a little more angst in that area, but still enjoyed the story nevertheless.

Fans of J.P. Bowie will enjoy this sexy action book. Dr. Mark Hamilton is working at a refugee clinic in Darfur, Tunisia. Once a rich, party boy in California, Mark had to prove himself as a real man and a capable doctor. Happily helping those in need, Mark was finally at peace until Sergeant Major Jack Caruthers turns his world upside down. Jack is part of the Australian arm of the U.N. Peace Keeping Force and blows in with a wounded comrade who needs medical attention. Mark and Jack go at it like rabbits until one day Mark is taken by slave traders and sold to an old Saudi prince as a sex slave. Who but Jack can pull off a desert Indiana Jones and save his lover? The story has a good balance of plot and sweaty sex. A veteran author, Bowie knows how to weave a story and keep it interesting while throwing in some local flavor.

I liked this one.... A lot. The only flaw to my mind was that the men fell in love too fast. Otherwise, this is a great story, adventure, suspense, and judicially seasoned with sex. The characters are likable and believable, and the plot works, although Mark being 27 pushes the sex slave market a bit. I did wonder when Mark completely left his profession since he was so dedicated to it in Darfur.

The blurb for this book promised action, adventure and man love and it delivered big time! Both the main characters, Mark and Jack are guys I'd love to know, and the author does a great job of mixing the romance with the in your face action and danger they both face. Terrific!
