The book is stunning.

Most of the information is simplified well for children (or adults!). There are some parts that still seem a little complicated, but it mostly does a good job.

The only thing, is that it doesn't actually talk about all the planets. It misses Saturn, Neptune and Uranus. Not sure why.

“Celestial objects are cosmic heroes. They exist in inhospitable conditions: withstanding unthinkable cold, heat and radiation, swirling gases and powerful forces. They’ve been around for many millions of years. They hold clues to our origins and our future.

Constellations shift, but ancient humans dreamed below the same sky as ours.”

The moon for example, here are all the facts for the curious young reader. What is the far side? And legends of the moon, be it Roman, Greek, or Asian.

The North Star! Or Polaris, the true north helping humans to find their way for hundreds of years. It is a “stationary” star because it sits above the North Pole while other stars appear to circle around it.

When might you find Orion’s Belt, a constellation that has stayed together through millenia, even though they’re several light-years apart — and a source of so many stories in different cultures.

Humans have also marked the sky, with thousands of artificial satellites orbiting our planet, making modern life possible. The largest of them all, the International Space Station, orbits Earth once every 90 minutes and can be spotted closer to sunrise or sunset, when the light of the sun is reflected on its solar arrays.

Look up and enjoy the show.

My kids loved all of the facts and mythological connections in this book. I loved the whimsical, saturated illustrations. We took our time reading Glow over a couple of weeks—it became an evening habit to read the next page or two before bed.
