Drama still seems to be Tiara's best friend. Five years has came and gone and Tiara tries desperately to bury her past baggage and focus on the future of raising her daughter. Out for only two years, he tried helping Tiara and their child settle into a better life outside of the projects. But when his true colors surfaced Tiara finds herself stuck without a plan B. Cheating, lies, abuse and phony friends surround Tiara once again and she finds herself helpless. Will she finally find a way out of her constant cycle of dilemma's or settle for the same ole' street life? Continue to ride along on Tiara's journey through adulthood; find out if the madness ever ends.
I liked that Tiara finally took charge of her life. Very disappointed in the mother. Tony, that man was nor my cup of tea. His cocky attitude and ways will eventually catch up with him. Looking forward to the next book.
After a long break Ms. DeVaughn is back with a vengeance. The story has picked up and while she doesn't give too much background, the way it’s told, you will be able to remember book one.
We catch up with Tiara five years later and life is great. As we know with Tiara nothing good last too long. She is with the man of her dream her love Tony. Their five year old daughter is the light of their life. They own a company and make legal money - or so she thought. When a deal gone bad surfaces Tiara’s life is knocked upside down. With old players back in the mix the drama is sure to stay on point: Tony has taken her out of the projects as she was a true Ryder and stayed down while he did his three year bid. Shawn, Tony's best friend/business partner whom Tiara never liked, is back. Ke-ke and Karen come back and boy oh boy they give new meaning to ‘you can take the girl out the hood but you can't take the hood out the girl’. Renee is STILL up to her old tricks and never seems to grow up.
All in all I really enjoyed this follow up. At times I was screaming at Tiara as if she could hear me and I was almost brought to tears at other parts. This is definitely an emotional read and the drama is nonstop. The only drawback was the formatting; I really wasn't feeling the double space. This a quick read and if you crave drama I recommend this novel (After you read part one of course). Looking to forward to seeing what this author has in store for us readers next.
Don't Cry Just Ride* T was a ride or die chick, loyal to all those she believed in and just like any true to life story she was let down time after time. Not wanting her daughter to go through what she went through she decided to wipe her tears and ride out of the cold streets she once called home. It was time to work on her. And who could blame her. The stuff that went down in the story was to much for anyone to handle but threw it all she was still standing. God is good!
Note: In both part 1&2 I noticed that T was no stranger to God's work. Although she did things Satan was proud of, she knew who her savior was "GOD!" When she needed something greater than Hood love she got on her knees or looked to the heavens because she knew God's power could override the worst situation. Although, God didn't answer all of prayers, she was able to hear within( this kind of remind me of THE BOOK OF JOB)he allowed certain things to happen, so she could get the message "I have a greater plan for you."
I read this book in one day I really enjoyed it. Queen Readers highly recommend this book to all book clubs to read. This book is a must read so is the first part. I was glad that Tiara started putting herself first before her man and friends. Queen Readers gives LaShonda DeVaughn a 10 we loved her books and we couldn't put them down. You are truly talented keep up the good wotk may God bless you any and everything you from this day forward......... Thank you letting us read your novels
Giving this 3.5 stars. It was a good read. I really felt sorry for Tiara she really had a rough life. I think "A Hood Chick's Story" was better than Part 2, but overall it was a good read. A lot of drama as with part 1.
Tiara James just can't catch a break. She is the type of female that every dude says that they want but when they get her they dont know how to treat her. This is a must read
