One moonlit night, Little Wolf wakes and knows he is ready. This is the night he will learn how to howl. But who can teach him? Yannick Murphy is the author of the novels, The Call, Signed, Mata Hari, Here They Come, and The Sea of Trees. Her story collections include Stories in Another Language and In a Bear's Eye. Her children's books include The Cold Water Witch, Baby Polar, and Ahwhoooooooo!. She is the recipient of various awards including a Whiting Writer's Award, a National Endowment for the Arts award, a Chesterfield Screenwriting award and her story In a Bear's Eye was recently published in the 2007 O'Henry Prize Stories.

Okay, so this book was seriously cute. The artistry was amazing, the story adorable, and the lessons to learn plentiful. I loved that family and learning to be yourself were big themes in this children's story. Patience and appreciating the sparks of happiness in our lives were other focuses I enjoyed. This is a book I would love to add to my collection for when I have kids sometime in the future. Highly recommend!

Such a darling book! I bought this for our soon to be born daughter, anticipating hearing her little voice imitating Little Wolf's learning to howl. Cute illustrations and a cute story!

Really cute book about the special relationship between grandparent and grandchild. Makes the point that there are some things grandparents are more easily able to teach than parents. The pictures make this book-they are such a unique blend of cartoonistic and impressionistic-realistic styles.
