Spring Break

Rate this book
With a breakneck pace and cat-and-mouse twists, Spring Break is the ultimate beach read. "Help me . . ." These are the last words Chanetelle hears from her friend Ashley, in a static-filled phone call that soon goes dead. Their trip to the island paradise of Artula started the way any trip should, and soon Chanetelle and her friends find themselves in sun-drenched days and party-hopping nights. The vacation is not without its conflicts, however, and old rivalries and new jealousies come to light as the week passes. But no one expects things to turn as ugly as they do. No one expects that they won't all return. And no one expects that murder might be the ultimate souvenir. When Ashley disappears, the question is Was it a random act of violence? Or is something more sinister going on? And is Ashley really dead, after all? "Drawing on real-life tragedies, Perrin creates an unforgettable and chilling tale of the seamy side of an island paradise." - Booklist

_ This book was good. In the beginning it was kind of boring and I was going to stop reading it but then it started to get really good. Three college girls decided to spend the spring break in Artula , an island in the Caribbean. When they get there they are enjoying their time going clubbing and sun bathing on the beach. One night the three girls decided to go out to let go some stress because one of them were going through a terrible break up. While they are at the club some how they got separated and when its time to go back to the hotel there is only two girls instead of three. Everyone thinks probably shes just hooking up with a guy and wont be home for the night. Days go by and she stilt doesn't show up. Things don't seem right. People tongues are being cut out and people are starting to die after the girl goes missing. The other two girls think something is really wrong, they think that the island has a big secret that everyone on the island knows about but tourist just don't know. This book has a boring beginning but once you get to the middle its hard to put the book down. I would recommend this book to young adults. It is a great book if you like to read books about mysteries and suspense. I think it shows how careless females can be sometimes when it comes to the opposite sex. Fact : One of the girls has a very dark secret you would never guess she would do something like that.

This is one of those books that I'm not sure how well I like. It kept me reading because I wanted to see what happened to Chantelle's friend. Unfortunately some of the "hints" as to what happened were too cliche and just strange. The one reason for the disappearance they shoved down your throat, then it kind of died in the wind. The ending with the father arriving at the college was too unbelievable.

Good plot with the friend disappearing. The romance was okay, a bit too much with the electricity, but that's okay, most of them are. I think the thing that threw me off the most was I didn't buy into the friendship of these three girls that well. They just didn't seem to be that close, especially when some of the secrets came out. I want people I can worry about, and I never really was worried about the missing girl. I was just more curious.

Yet, I kept reading to see what happened. Of course, it could be more to see if I was right (which I was).

I'd suggest this book if you want a quick read. It's not deep, which is another reason to like it. No dictinary needed. And I would defintely try another Kayla Perrin book. I enjoy a book that keeps me reading, even if I can really tell why.

Well, three friends decide to go on a trip to the islands for spring break. Chantelle, Erica, and Ashley best friends, everything is going great until one of the girls disappears. And that was Ashley, Chantelle took it upon herself to find out what happened to her best friend. That's all I kept hearing in this book Chantelle saying Ashley is my best friend over and over so draining. Chantelle was making stupid I mean foolish choices to find her so-called best friend meeting strangers in dark alleys-being improperly touched by police offices from the islands. A lot of twist and turns in Kayla Perrin book it was an exciting read that kept my interest. But the characters were annoying. 3 1/2 stars!!!!

I enjoyed this book. Parts were slow and some was cliche, but overall, it was a good read. We follow one idea for the disappearance in depth for most of the book. It is very intensely implied so you know it will be something else. Some of the story is all over the place.

This book went WAY too many places. Way too many details in certain places and a super abrupt ending.

I enjoyed this book right around spring break time. It was also ironic that I read this right after someone was recently in the news for disappearing while on spring break. The beginning was a little slow but the second half I couldn't put down. Some girls are just careless on vacation which is hard for me to understand. But the twist in this book was shocking and very interesting. Then ending was way too rushed but still a fun book to read.

Whoa its been a long time since I got to sit down, read a book and review it and I hope this is my comeback:) I always slow down around the holidays/birthday season in my house and in my first effort back picked up this thrill read about three college friends Erica, Chantelle and Ashley as they travel to the island of Artula for Spring Break..Close friends with the usual animosities, secrets and jealous moments the girls plan to have a good time and let loose in the club...Loose in all definitions of the word I assume and after a heavy night of guys and drinks they realize that Ashley never returned home from the club..Finding Ashley becomes the sole point of suspense throughout the book and you read just to find out what happened to the poor beautiful blonde girl? I was intrigued and all the vices came out: murder, blackmail, rape, porn, white slavery and all that but still came off flat, I was disappointed with the ending and wish more time was spent on one of the more interesting aspects and fleshed out the characters a little more so their actions were understandable like more on their history, families so the ending made more sense..I can say this is fun reading and you wont notice how quickly the pages turn I just cant co-sign whether or not you will enjoy the ending..:(

Chantelle Erica Ashley and several other classmates from thei college campus take a spring br am vacation to the island of Artula. Upon arriving there Ashley is obsessed with making out with her boyfriend Ryan. After the second day there Ashley is hysterical claiming they broke up because Blake Ryan's best friend took a video of her giving Ryan head with out permission and was gonna show everyone.
Ashley was Chantelle's best friend so without thinking we snuck up on Blake stole his phone and threw it in the water. It wasn't until later that night when they go to the bar and Ashley meets a cute guy who happens to be a editor and they all major in writing that they think she went home with him when they tried to find her to leave. 2 days pass no word from her she don't answer her phone anything. Chantelle remembers the guys name and the place he said he worked so she called and asked them to contact him and give him her number. When he calls he informs Chantelle that he axtually didn't leave with Ashley and goes on to tell Chantelle that he's on the island doing reports of blonde women who go missing are abducted into white Slavery. The island police are useless nobody takes them seriously. Their on a mad dash to find out what happened to Ashley before its to late!

Chantelle seeks answers after her best friend Ashley goes missing in Artula during spring break. The book is written in Chantelle's POV.

Chantelle, Erica and Ashley are students of Lancaster university and also best friends. They go on spring break with a few other classmates to Artula. The young aspiring writers head to Zacks Shack on their first night outside of the resort. Ashley had a nasty breakup earlier in the day and finds, what seems to be, a rebound. Erica becomes ill, so Chantelle takes her back to the hotel and leaves Ashley at the bar. The next morning the girls wake up to find Ashley is missing. The book then goes down any possible path of her disappearance which was really just exhausting.

I was waiting for a huge climax or some sort of twist but nothing really stood out to me or had me sitting at the edge of my seat. I didn't have any real connection to any of the characters. There was also a lot of characters in the book who were absolutely pointless. I would not read this book again but would definitely try another book by this author. The writing style was smooth and easy to read. This is what gave it a three stars for me.

I thought this was going to be a horror book, one of the kind like the movie where the college kids go to a random island for vacation on spring break, drink a lot, then start getting picked off one by one. The first couple things happened, but then it was just one girl who went missing, and her friend must find out what happened to her. So it ended up being better with more substance than i expected. the book developed slowly, then it was almost over and i thought, um, is this to be continued? Nope. The author jammed a billion things in at the end, in a rush jumble of events that sort of cleared everything up, but not to great depth. It was just wrapped up too neatly, too suddenly after all that buildup. a common problem in books. i liked it though.

This is a very intense read and it kept me guessing all the way until the end. I liked the fact that the story kept me engaged and wanting to know where Ashley was. But, I have to admit I was kind of disappointed at the end. I just sat there for a moment and thought, "Really?! Did that just happen?" But then... here is where the story gets really interesting. After you find out where Ashley was, you start to wonder why did the island natives act the way they did and if something more sinister was going on on the island.

This story definitely does have it's creepy moments (for example, that mystery package that Chantelle receives. Who sent it and why?!). Okay, no more spoilers. Go read this for yourself :)

Wow I'm suprised at how goos this book was. I thought it would be just a silly book that was non sense, but it was a real page turner. I will warn you that it has ALOT of cursing and ALOT of..you know what. So don't read if you are immature. Lol. But anyways it was a good little mystery..but there was this one part that scared the heck out of me. But yeah. I found it hard to put down. You will be very impressed from beginning to end.

Boy,there are lots of books with this title. This one takes relevant news items and gives us the where, why, and when of a college girl who disappears on vacation during Spring Break. Perrin delights readers with twists and unexpected turns often enough to keep you turning pages. Her characterization, descriptions and plot threads all work together to make a fantastic thriller read.

I just finished reading Spring Break by Kayla Perrin. I'd have to give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. I must say that when I first started reading the book, it reminded me of the Natalie Hollaway case. But overall, I think the book had some sudden suprises and an ending I didn't expect. If your looking for a quick easy read, I would recommend this one.

The island is beautiful, the mystery is dark, and I was kept guessing until the end after three coeds visit the island paradise, but only two return home. The ending left me a little unhappy, but it had that Kayla Perrin twist, meaning I never guessed until I was hit between the eyes.

I was suspicious of almost everyone as I read this book! In the end it was not as I thought it would be! Therefore, I considered this a good book (I hate it when I can guess 'who dunnit" right off the bat). I like it and I'll be reading more books by this author for sure!

My head is still spinning after reading this book, this author has a tendency to do that to me. Glad that Ashley and her sister has their happy ending too bad the stepdad is not in the ground where he belongs.
