Billie: I've always been the baby of the family, but finally, with a new job and a house of my own, I feel like a real grown-up. At least until my grumpy new neighbour treats me like a child all over again.
Grey: Life hasn't turned out as I expected. Ever since my wife left me and our daughter, nothing seems easy, and I don't have time to make friends with the sunny new neighbour, not even when she turns out to be my daughter's teacher. No matter how strong the temptation might be.
Both think they have all the answers, but could one of them be in for a change of heart?
This sweet and steamy romance is recommended for readers over the age of 18.
If you're looking for sweet and steamy romance, you've come to the right place! I started reading romance novels in my early teens and writing them soon afterwards; growing up in small towns in western Canada, there wasn't much else to do! Luckily, those early stories have never seen the light of day.
Now, I live in the UK with my husband and daughter and spend my free time diving into magical or just romantic settings where true love (almost) always wins.
I've really enjoyed this whole series, and Billie's story is a great addition to it. A bit of single dad, a bit of grumpy/sunshine, and appealing characters made this a winner for me. This is the third book in the series but you could read it as a standalone.
Billie is just as blunt as her sisters but not quite so quick to take offense. If Grey had yelled at Tonia, it wouldn't have gone nearly so well! Billie, however, is understanding and empathetic, and it helps that she's completely smitten with Grey's little girl, Adele.
Grey was a tougher nut to crack but I felt for him. He was trying to survive and keep things together, his confidence knocked and constantly feeling like he didn't quite measure up. His mood swings in the way he responded to Billie were a bit frustrating, but I loved how she made him own up to it and apologize properly!
I loved the family scenes and my heart broke for Dex as he struggled with his grief. His journey through the whole series might be my favorite.
I give this book five stars. Billie and Grey! They have just jumped up my list of favorite book couples. Their story was so special and so was something else 👀 (iykyk) Adele is such a blessing and I was ready to throw hands with that one parent! The Callahans’ are a great family and I might read Dex’s story so I can see more of them. I’m off to find my next read!
This was a great book! The characters were real and honest and my favorite character is by far ADELE! What a cutie!! The romance and plot was amazing and the found family feel was real! I even loved the little bit of angst but it was worth it for the great ending!!
I loved this story. It was first time in a while I wasn’t irritated that the female main character. But the male character kinda wanted to shake him. Sounded to be on his man period when he reacted poorly to her. And men think we are bad when on it.
I loved this one!! I felt a lot of emotions with this story. I loved little Adele and understood her dad's reluctance to get close to anyone I love Billie and her sweetness she's such a great teacher. Whew they spicy parts were spicy,!!!! Another great Callahan story!!
Another brilliant instalment to the Callahan story! The grief was once again explored with great care and attention! This one was quite steamy but enjoyable! Loved the ending
If you’re looking for a grumpy book boyfriend, let me introduce you to Grey! I promise you, you will fall in love with him! I’m so in love with this book and this series!
A Change of Heart by Melody Tyden is the 3rd book in The Callahans series, but as it is the most recently released, it is the 4th book I have read. It can be read as a standalone, but if you are going to read it as part of the series, I do suggest you read the books in order as to not spoil some of the plot from the other books.
❤ Billie, and especially Billie as a teacher. I wish everyone could experience a teacher like her. I loved her explanation of Adele to her students. She is also a great neighbour.
❤ Grey. He is an incredible father. He only wants the best for his daughter. What he does for his daughter's teacher is also incredible.
❤ Adele. She is such a happy girl. I want the best for her too.
❤ The relationship between Billie and Adele.
❤ The tattoo ⭐ and the piercings.
❤ I truly love the Callahan family's way to apologize. I believe I have learned something myself with this.
Billie and Grey had their hot and cold moments. Between Billie's perseverance, some help from her siblings, and Grey's character growth, these two have created a book with steam, depth and sweetness.
As with the rest of the stories in this series, Tyden did a wonderful job of naturally including all the Callahan siblings into this story. The siblings do play a huge role in each other's lives. Their closeness and willingness to help each other is admirable and something to live up to. Their parents did a wonderful job raising them.
I have enjoyed reading this series. I now wonder if Tyden will ever write a book about the cousins.
4.5 stars. AHHHH what a cute mf book. Let’s get into it, no spoilers.
The plot - this book is an age gap romance with disability rep because the MMC’s daughter has Down Syndrome. There’s forced proximity, grumpy X sunshine, bit of a workplace romance type vibes and AHH just so cute. The smut was a good 3.5/5 on the spice scale, good but not all that frequent. It is a HEA in a series of interconnected standalones. This book was a palate cleanser of fluffy sweet moments, the trials and tribulations of divorce, Down Syndrome and learning to trust again. Adorable and everything you could want. The ‘drama’ was a bit meh, but it’s more palate cleanser than angsty romance, so that would be why.
The MC - I adored Billie. She is a badass trying to pave her own way in the world. She’s considerate, and kind, and soft and rough all at the same time. She knows boundaries, is emotionally healthy and know what she wants. Adored her from beginning to end.
The male counterpart - we all know I have weaknesses for men called Grey, this man is NO exception. Now yeah he was a cunt at the start, I get that. He for sure wasn’t winning brownie points for a portion of this book, but his character arc was well worth it, and I found myself falling for him truly. Broody, protective and possessive, with emotional maturity by the end of it… SWOON.
Sunny FMC keeps persuing rude guy who doesn't give her time of day until there is sex involved.
One of those romance with kids books where the kid is just kinda happy running around in the background. If thats what you want, great. Im usually looking foward the mc having important moments of connection with the kid also. But since there werent even those moments with the main couple (besides 1 dance almost at the end) im not surprised..
Also what 23 year old has their life figured out, an established career after college and a house that had to be renovated? Are we working with the same 365 days a year?
Melody I love that you had someone with special needs. The words that you used to explain to young children about Down syndrome. I showed three of my friends that have children with Down syndrome. Two of them is going to use words like what you used. I couldn’t be more proud of you. Thank you for such amazing book.
Despite finishing it in 24 hours, I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
For one, the time line was messed up, without the epilogue, the book was written in like three weeks, that's WEIRD. Plus the author wrote that something had happened over a week when clearly it was at least two.
The book felt hella dramatic tbh, when it came out that Billie and Grey were seeing each other.
Other than that it was an easy read, some grammar mistakes but it was okay, not my favorite read of the month.
Honestly this is one of those books you don't really know how to rewiev.
This is the first book I have read by this author and was not disappointed. This is such a great story about how people see others and how they can change our hearts and minds.
