What does it mean to go out with someone? Suddenly, the things you couldn't do when you were friends are now possible, and the love, respect, and gratitude you have for one another grows ever stronger. With no manual in hand to guide them, Tanaka and Irie steadily grow closer. Perhaps they'll find the answers they seek between themselves.
They're still so painfully shy and awkward around each other, but they are also so adorable! I wish Tanaka-san would develop more self-confidence and Irie-kun be a little less introverted around her. I hope this relationship continues to blossom and grow. I want a mushy-gushy HEA! lol
I feel kinda bad for her though. She has such low self-esteem! She's beautiful, kind, stable, and she got with the man she loved from afar for so long! Hopefully after the hug & talk, she will realize that things are good, & that she is allowed to be happy. He's such a nice guy, too. He really likes her. They both are inexperienced in love, & wary of being hurt, so they aren't exactly sure at times what to say or do. I think they'll figure things out. He's so patient with her, & she is so happy to be with him. Such a darling couple. This is such a fun story. Butterflies, butterflies everywhere! They both have them in their stomachs, lol. Art, very nice. I absolutely adore the way this artist draws the women's eyes, smiles, & cute little button noses. So adorable! Dialogue, a bit slow, but it fits the characters & story. Characters, believable, likeable, relatable, and definitely interesting.
What else is there to say? I legitimately forgot this series existed and I read the fourth volume and didn’t even think to log it on Goodreads, apparently. That is how much of a nothing this series is.
Update - I read and logged it under the Japanese title, it turns out. I still don’t remember reading it.
Two extremely introverted leads sounds like a good idea on paper, until they’re actually on paper, then it’s really not. It’s like putting a ping pong paddle two feet from a piece of flint and waiting for sparks to fly. Not going to happen.
I don’t hate this series, but I don’t care about it at all whatsoever. It’s just the slowest thing and we spend all our time in the heads of these people second-guessing themselves are every turn. If I wanted to deal with this much insecurity, I’d live my own life.
I did appreciate one section where Tanaka decides to push herself a little harder than she usually does and takes charge of her life. It was the one time where things had a little pep to them.
My attempt with ratings is to save two stars for something I dislike and one for something that blackened part of my soul. This just doesn’t register, so it can have three stars. It’s one of the blandest manga I’ve ever read, but it means well.
… and if you’re from the UK you’ll know the next line to that song. And so far it’s very much the case in this really incredibly sweet and kind love story - but DON’T let that put you off! I know a review on volume 5 is kinda late to the party and if this is the only volume you’ve picked up then GO READ VOLUMES 1 - 4 NOW. Then we can talk, ok?
If you’re already a fan of the series then let’s carry on. The two protagonists (because the story does go from both viewpoints) are proceeding gently and carefully with their soft, shy romance and basically everyone is so kind and supportive that you just know it’s a fantasy (lol) but they are so insecure and awkward that literally any actual external problem would tear them apart in an instant so I’m very happy that they are being protected and cared for.
If you have a broken heart, or are socially awkward or a loner then this book should give you hope and possibly some useful guidance. Enjoy, and I’ll see you next volume :)
DNFed 50 pages in because the ebook I have enlarged the text to only show one section of the manga and not the rest of the page. When I went to the next page, instead of it showing another section, it showed an entirely new page’s section. (Idk if this review makes any sense but I’m trying my best here).
Skipped to see if the rest of the book was glitched like this or if it was just a few pages, but nope! The. Rest. Of. The. Book. Was. Like. This. I’ll change my rating once I get my hands on a real copy and get to experience the book in it’s entirety.
Another ball out of the ballpark with this series! My husband was making fun of me because of gusting over the story when Nobuko was with Irie-Kun. She was so brave when she confronted him about his feelings for her. It’s was very surprising because of her nature! This is a great story for those who are shy and are like them. It’s a great learning opportunity for anyone with trouble communicating with others. How not talk it out can lead to misunderstanding! See you at the next review!😉
This is just a great storyline that just gets cuter as it goes. I understand how she feels when she thinks he isn't into her anymore because of her insecurities. But the whole time he just wants to hold her hand but just can't figure out how to do that. Then when she finally tells him how she feels about herself he just hugs her. Just wonderful way to show her how he feels. I can't wait to read more of these two....

I really liked the character development in this vol. Tanaka is getting braver and taking steps to keep treasuring her relationship with Irie, and this brave moments inspire Irie to express himself too, and admit, first to himself and then Tanaka, how deep his affection for Tanaka runs.
This is the sweetest story about two people who are learning how to define what love and relationships are and how they can open up to each other. They are SLOWLY moving along and it’s so cute – they’re finally holding hands! At this rate, they’ll be too old to have children when they finally get to that stage but it’s just so adorable that I’m okay with that (kinda).
This one made me tear up a bit but I’m glad Tanaka was able to voice her insecurities with Irie and now they’re getting even closer as a couple. I love how slow, sweet, and satisfying it is to watch them progress as a couple together. Like always, I can’t wait to see where they go in the next volume!
The series continues to grow on me. I will say in the first half I was a little be annoyed with the pacing being so slow. But I think it does well to build up to the end. I also realize that it doesn't always have to be big feeling all the time and that the slower moments make the highs more meaningful.
The whole awkward shy thing may grow old to some readers at some point, but the author seems to know exactly when to keep things moving and not get stale while still keeping to the characters' personalities. It seems like a very realistic pace of growth and character development! Also it's just so cute
This one may be my favorite so far. Tanaka is deeply courageous, actually more so than Irie. But he’s a consistent safe place to land. Loving this story. No cliffhanger with this one, so setting it aside at least for tonight.
I’ve read sooo many manga with the firework/festival romance scene but in some ways this was one of my faves. This artist has a very simple style and yet are able to evoke emotions in a really great way. I felt like they really came through, especially in the festival chapters.
I thought this volume was extra cute and sweet...my favorite of the series so far. Really enjoying the series so far...its not a new favorite...yet...but the characters are so relatable and awkward and I love them all.
I am definitely starting to see the character development. I feel like even with her worries she is starting to open up and be more communicative about her feelings and it’s starting to feel like she’s growing into her power. I’m very happy that she’s starting to fine her own voice.
This Volume was just the sweetest thing. I wondered if I would get bored with how slow the story seems to be going but the slowness of their romance honestly makes all the little things that happen on a first love that much sweeter! Definitely my favorite volume so far.
I absolutely love this story! It is so much fun to see the characters grow together I want to say more but I don’t what to spoil anything. 100/10 must read !
The last chapter of this volume made me cry real tears. The author did a wonderful job at writing this shy introverted couple. I could see my younger self in Tanaka-san and I love that I could read this as an adult today.
