About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

When the novel starts, it seemed to be like a typical ganesh vasanth mystery unlocking. But where the plot got interesting is when adhithya enters the scene. The episode with adithya and there after is good psychic learning. It gave me answer to some of my questions on why people cannot see things the way one explains even after giving lot of data points. The data points get converted into the way gut feeling wants to take. So it is better to leave it than to make others understand.

The end according to me though is not different and might not be satisfying for lot of people, was true to the plot and justifying. Not in many novels do we end up at the same point where it all started. I don't want the review to be a spoiler hence not hinting the climax. A very good read for mystery lovers, but a word of caution it might or might not quench your thirst. Go for the book with open mind

Shockingly sujatha's Ganesh and Vasanth failed to crack the code. It's a first such novel where they failed which I have gone through.

Sujatha has attempted a different approach to the story by introducing a college student to work along with the duos Ganesh and Vasanth on a strange case where the motive is missing. Will they find the convict this time?

A rare Gem

Only 3 pages left and I was thinking where it's heading the protagonist couldn't get any breakthrough and how the lawyers are going to say "hey we got You" But but a very rare climax from Sujatha. Usually his crime thrillers will end as finding antagonists or some rare cases as open ended. But in this story he ends like "Nature will take its own course" and unnecessarily stretched

கூவம் நதிக்கரையோரம் ஒதுங்கிய பெண் பிணம் ஒன்றை தாங்கள் போகும் வழியில் காணும் கணேஷ் - வசந்த உடன் இருக்கும் சட்டகல்லூரி மாணவி ஒருத்தியின் நச்சரிப்பால் அம்மரணத்தை குறித்து துப்பறிய ஒத்துகொள்கின்றனர்.ஆர்வமும்,ஈடுபாடும் இல்லாமல் தொடங்கும் அவர்களின் தேடல் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாய் விறுவிறுப்பு அடைவது அப்பெண்ணின் வீட்டை கண்டுபிடித்து அதனுள் இருந்த "பறவைகள் உலகம்" என்னும் புத்தகத்தை கண்டெடுக்கும் பொழுது தான்.

இறந்த அப்பெண் விளிம்பு நிலை வேசி,படிப்பறிவு இல்லாதவள் என கணக்கிட்டு அந்நூலின் உரிமையாளரை தேடி இவர்கள் பயணம் தொடர்கிறது!!அவர்கள் கண்டு பிடிக்கும் ஆள் பெரும் பணக்காரனாய்,விசித்திர பழக்கங்கள் கொண்டவனாய் தெரிகிறான்.எதையும் ஒருமுறை முயன்று பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்னும் அவனின் ஆர்வத்தை கொண்டு அவனே கொலையாளி என அறிந்திருந்தும் தண்டனை வாங்கி தர இயலாது திரும்புகின்றனர்.

இந்நாவலின் கிளைமாக்ஸ் வாசிப்பவர் போக்கிற்கு விடப்படுகின்றது.இது போல நிஜ நிகழ்வுகள் இருந்தாலும் ஆச்சர்யபடுவதற்கில்லை என்னும் படியாக தற்போதைய சூழல் உள்ளது!!பணம் படைத்தவர்களின் உலகமாய் தற்போதைய சமூக நிலை மாறி வருவதும்,விளிம்புநிலை மக்கள் அதற்கு இரையாவதும் தொடர்ந்து நிகழ்ந்து வருவதை ஒரு கொலையின் மூலமாய் எடுத்துரைக்கின்றது இந்நாவல்.

சுஜாதாவின் பிரபல கணேஷ்-வசந்த் துப்பறியும் க்ரைம் கதை. ’எல்லாக் குற்றங்களுக்கும் உள்நோக்கம் உண்டு’ என்ற கிரிமினாலஜி தியரியை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு நாவல் விரிகிறது. கணேஷ்-வசந்த் மற்றும் ஒரு சட்டக் கல்லூரி மாணவியும் சேர்ந்து, சந்தர்ப்ப சூழ்நிலையை வைத்து, ஒரு பணக்காரனை ஒரு கொலைக்குற்றத்தில் சந்தேகிக்கிறார்கள். கிரிமனாலஜி, பறவையியல் பற்றிய குறிப்புகளும், வழக்கம் போல கணேஷ்-வசந்த் உரையாடல்களும் சுவாரசியம். ஆனால் கதைக்கு சரியான முடிவில்லாமல் தொங்கலில் விட்டது ஏமாற்றம். கணேஷ்-வசந்த்காக படிக்கலாம்.

I love Sujata’s novels. His narration style makes the story interesting & fast paced. Very rarely would you get bored reading a Sujata novel.
The premise of this book was interesting. And bringing Nirupama as a third wheel and emphasising the importance of feminism (remember this was written in the early 80’s) was commendable.
But... but... the plot. Wafer thin. Convenient connections leading to the perpetrator. And filled with holes (that unfinished letter in the room didn’t make sense. If it was written after she visited the perpetrator’s house, when did he dump the body? If it was written after he visited her at her room for the first time, why did she write what she did? (Any case it doesn’t appear that he visited her twice, so the latter doesn’t seem possible).
The book leaves us hanging. He may or may not be the killer at all. While it might not be a satisfying end to many, I thought it was different.

கணேஷ் - வசந்த் இருப்பதனால் சுவாரஸ்யமாக இருக்கும் என்று எதிர்பார்த்தேன்.கூவத்தில் உடல் கிடைப்பதிலிருந்து ஆதித்யகுமார் அறிமுகமாகும் வரை சுவாரஸ்யமாக நகர்ந்த கதை பிற்பகுதியில் எதிர்பார்ப்பை பூர்த்தி செய்யவில்லை.சுஜாதாவின் சுருக்கமான விவரணங்களில் இடையிடையே வரும் எள்ளல்கள் அழகு.ஆதித்யகுமார் சுஜாதாவின் அதே "வழமையான" பணக்கார கதாபாத்திரம் எனவே சப்பென்று இருந்தது.எதிர்பாராத ஆனால் யதார்த்தமான முடிவு.மொத்தத்தில் சுமாரான கதை.ஒருமுறை வாசிக்கலாம்.

Little Humourous Thriller Packed with Psychopath.

But the last line of the novel is Sujatha style.

Story was quite interesting. But, not comparatively as good as Sujatha's other works. The end, was not so good. When the expectation was so high, the story ending didn't meet it.
