Vance inherits a missile launch site—a relic from the cold war buried beneath the plains of North Dakota. But he doesn’t consider staying in the underground dwelling until he meets Andi, the woman responsible for remodeling it into a lavish home. Upon meeting Vance, Andi may have just gotten her second chance to discover what her grandfather hid inside the old missile base decades before when he served as a missileer. Is she prepared to detonate her growing feelings for the new owner in order to find the hidden treasure?

This is a wonderful story about forgiveness, letting go of the past and learning to trust again. Andi, while acting as guardian for her sister, was remodeling an old, deconstructed missile and trying to find a family treasure. Andi had left college to come home to care for her sister without thought, because that's what needed to be done. Her boyfriend felt in doing so she wasn't very intelligent and made some horrible comments which has stayed in her head and heart. She feels abandoned by everyone she's ever loved, but her sister. Of course, with the way things are going her sister would leave too if she was able. Vance goes on vacation to visit his inheritance for the first time. Meeting Andi was both a shock and pleasure. This book has elements of a crisis of faith, mystery, and love. I loved both characters. For me, this was a one sitting read. I was quickly pulled into the story and it held me until the last page was turned.
This was an awesome story of two people who are in occupations that you don't ever read about in romance. Andi owns her own construction business and Vance is a complete computer geek! I absolutely LOVED the non-traditional jobs they had. It made the story so fresh. If you want to read something other than the same old, same old, pick up this book! You will be so glad you did!
There's two Andis and you have to read to find out. They both give the hero trouble but it all works out. I love how the geek loves a non-geek and how they both love the stars. Enjoy the read, it's a good one!
Disarming Andi is a well-written inspirational romance. Loved the plot, characters and the setting. I highly recommend this book to fans of inspirational romance.
Vance Young has inherited a decommissioned missile site from his great uncle, who was in the process of renovating it into a home. Vance is a computer programmer with a love of astronomy and underground living does not sound like it's workable. Andi Nielsen is a construction contractor raising her younger sister and doing the renovation on Vance's inheritance. Andi convinces Vance that completing the renovation will make the home unique and more valuable for sale and Vance hires her to finish. Andi also has a hidden agenda for completing the work: her grandfather hid something for her grandmother in the missile site when he worked there decades earlier. A letter from Vance's uncle to her grandmother indicates that it is still there and the reason he bought the site and that he was searching for it. All the players are now deceased and Andi hopes she will find what ever it was during her renovation. Another plot involving Vance's discovery of a change to his signature computer program adds a suspense factor. Interesting short inspirational novel.
I just finished reading this exciting book. Wow! At first I thought it was going to be just another predictable romance but I was wrong. I really enjoyed Vance and Andi. There was so much story with the other characters too, her grandmother, his great uncle. Her sister, his work. Then there is suspense! Many twists and turns to this story. If you like a little romance with a little danger and suspense thrown in, you will like this book.
