Felt a patriotic duty to read this as a female Nflder. It's not bad, but the main character is a little too good to really get excited about. Not much of a plot. Nice to read something set in Nfld of the late 19th century and to hear some attempt to reproduce the dialect.

A delightful period piece: let’s call it early chick-lit. But also an interesting bit of Newfoundlandia, so I much appreciated the modern afterword.
