Simply the best book I've ever read on 'forgiveness' besides the Bible. A must read for any Christian!

RT Kendall challenges every Christian to forgive as they have been forgiven in Christ. As the individual Christian sees his sin on the cross, and the depth of the love and forgiveness rendered, then he can forgive others (the gospel). Forgiveness is a choice/decision of love. God calls us to 'love our enemies' and 'pray for those who persecute us' but our flesh wants to get even, take revenge, and respond out of bitterness, pain, and anger. So instead of enjoying fellowship with God by doing things His way, we receive our own curses for not forgiving.

Kendall challenges people who have been betrayed, hurt deeply, abused, etc. to embrace it from the Sovereign God as a blessing. "Blessed are you when they insult you, persecute you.." Therefore, we need to offer a beautiful offering before God of forgiveness to our enemies so that we can enjoy deeper fellowship with God, and a greater annointing of His Spirit. Instead, many times we hold on to bitterness which only hurts ourselves and those around us.

I pray that I can live out the biblical ideas expressed in this book each day... each hour... each minute... each breath of my life. It would take the supernatural grace of God to do so, but that is what saves me anyway - it might as well be what sanctifies me too!

I listened to this book and also have the hard copy. I like the hard copy because I can make notes. I also purchased the study guide and have been doing that with a group of ladies from my church. This book has really helped me put things in my life in perspective and has helped me forgive others. I've also been able to step back and think about why I am reacting the way I am and did I do something that caused the person to be that way. Great book. Highly recommend.

Excellent book. "Forgiveness is unlocking the door to set someone free, and realizing you were the prisoner" Unknown. R.T. Kendall has a way of uncovering nuggets of information on the the subject of forgiveness. I recomment this book to anyone wanting to have additional information about what forgiveness is and what it is not. Great read.

It's so hard to forgive! This book gives you the guidelines to do just that though. Even if you cannot mend the relationship, you can forgive. Forgiveness is for you, not for the other person. It cleanses your soul and let's you move on to be happy and healthy. Excellent resource.
