I didn’t realize this was a dissertation going into this book. It definitely left me with more questions than answers. However, I really liked that the author challenged the idea that English Calvinism was rooted to Calvin.

This book left me thinking about many things. The authors annotated Bibliography will be my tbr for a while.

He provides a good picture of Calvin's understanding of "faith" and also a good mechanistic look at the Classic Calvinist "reflexive faith." He follows Brian Armstrong's thesis of discontinuity between Calvin and the Calvinists.
