It is so hard for me to review books like this. Humor is so, so subjective. I know that I would have loved this book if it had been my kind of humor. But, alas, it wasn’t. What should have made me giggle instead left me rolling my eyes or gritting my teeth. What makes it so hard for me to write this review is that some of the things that irritated me might have pleased me in a book that I found funnier. So, as you read this review keep in mind that this humor is either going to work for you, or it isn’t.

I liked the idea of an empath psychotherapist trying to treat a werewolf with amnesia—did I mention he’s naked? ;)—when she didn’t even know that werewolves existed. The humor of her trying to figure out why he didn’t feel like other humans, and her trying to cure his werewolf delusions, appealed to me. The beginning of the book worked for me. Damian was running mostly on animal instincts, although he did have a quirk where he would back off if called rude. I found it amusing to watch Kelsey try to rationalize Damian’s animalistic behavior, especially the sniffing. Her overwhelming attraction to him irritated me a little, as it felt like too much too soon, but I brushed it off since I was mostly enjoying the rest.

My enjoyment of book seemed to wane once Damian got his memory back and they left the clinic. It wasn’t his memory returning or the change of locale that caused it, they just happened to align with the biggest cause of my biggest discontent—the heroine. She wasn’t perfect in the beginning, but she didn’t irritate me much. But once she learned about werewolves and found herself in that world, I really didn’t like her. Her behavior grated and since this is written in first person I couldn’t escape how irritating I found her.

Kelsey goes from being shocked about the existence of werewolves to being sex crazed and eager to have babies, even though she doesn’t know Damian from Adam. He may have bit her and been suffering some territorial werewolf feelings as a result, but she didn’t have any such issue. She was actually the one hoping to be together in the long run and the one primarily talking about choosing each other as mates. I’m not saying he didn’t want the same, I just found it surprising that the human in the relationship was the one pushing for it. She needed absolutely no convincing about anything. She jumped into sex, being mates, and a grim future for herself (that I won’t discuss because of spoilers) with both feet , even though they barely knew each other. It just didn’t work for me.

The whininess was also an issue for me. I know she had a bad past—that I wish was treated more seriously since it had potential—but her crying and clinginess was a big turn off for me. Probably this would come off as more cute and funny than irritating for those enjoying the humor. And I got tired of the constant sex, sex, sex, sex. Seriously, if I had to read about how horny this girl was one more time, I would have had to stab myself in the eye. Every time I turned the page they were lusting for each other in a completely over the top manner or they were just flat out having sex. Lots of sex. I felt bored for the most part.

I found the storyline kind of scattered, but I didn’t have a problem following along until the end. I’m still kind of confused about how that all worked out for Kelsey. It didn’t make a lot of sense to me and felt a bit thrown together. So, obviously this was not my style. The humor reminded me a lot Angela Knight’s Mageverse series. I think if you enjoy that series then there is a fair chance that you’ll enjoy this one as well.

Before I end this review, I just want to take the time to mention something I was impressed with. I’ve read and enjoyed this author before, and that name recognition was actually what led me to get this book. I knew Must Love Lycans and Never Again would be very different reads, but I didn’t expect the author’s voice to be so different. I’m impressed that she was able to change her writing style so much. Not a lot of authors seem to be able to do that, so it always stands out when I run across one who can. Seriously, though, if I hadn’t seen the name, I never would have known they were written by the same person.

Favorite Quote:
Then to my utter shock, she disappeared in a shower of pink sparkles. It was like Mari had burst into glitter. I looked at Damian, but he didn't seem all that surprised. I wasn't sure I was all that surprised, either. I fully expected a unicorn to show up next. Yeah. A unicorn ridden by a leprechaun holding a kettle of gold. Or a box of Lucky Charms.

It has been said that the moon goddess wanted children, so she mated in wolf form and gave birth to twins. The older had the ability to shift from human form to the form of a wolf and the younger only had the ability to shift into wolf form during a full moon. Centuries later the Lycans are born; they have to live on blood and became the first vampires. Their existence is kept secret, as is the existence of their descendants.

Kelsey Morningstar is in charge of Dante Clinic as a psychotherapist. One of her patients is Damien, who is spends most of his time in his cage nude. Kelsey has empathic abilities which help her with her job. Kelsey appreciates that Damian is a sexy man and wants to help him. He has amnesia and wants out but has nowhere to go.

To complicate matters, Damian thinks he is a werewolf and Kelsey doesn’t believe him. When he claims her and gets rescued, he turns out to be the prince of all the werewolves. That’s when things get really interesting.

Must Love Lycans by Michele Bardsley is a sexy, funny, and exciting addition to her Broken Heart, Oklahoma series. I loved Kelsey’s character; she’s trying to be rational but she’s in way over her head and doesn’t know it. She only knows she wants to help Damian.

When we first meet Damian, he is running on pure instinct. He knows his mate is Kelsey and that he’s a werewolf. He also knows he has to get out of the cage he’s in. Unfortunately, what Damian doesn’t remember is what could kill him. Plus, he isn’t the only one who wants Kelsey. He’s going to have to get free fast and recover his memory before it’s too late.

The passion and heat between Kelsey and Damian just leaps off the pages in this book. Ms. Bardsley has written some great werewolves in this book and I hope we get to meet them in the future. This is the first book I’ve read in the Broken Heart, Oklahoma series but it sure won’t be my last. The blend of romance and humor in this book was amazingly well done and I want more!

I probably should have started at the beginning of the series, but evidently that’s just not how I roll. I quite loved the first three quarters of the book, before the last part veered into wild plot land (which probably would have made more sense had I taken the time to accrue greater backstory). I quite liked the two main characters, though, and their interactions were believable and suitably engrossing. Will definitely continue (er, start?) the series.

Kelsey Morningstone is a psychotherapist who has been hired to run the Dante Clinic owned and operated by Jarred Dante. Kelsey knows how lucky she is to have this second chance to continue to work as a therapist. Just a short time ago, she was on the verge of being destitute. A patient of hers that she’d been working with turned out to be a serial killer. She’d been sued multiple times, lost every battle and lost her house, car, even her clothes. She didn’t think she’d work as a therapist again. Until Jarred Dante swooped in with his offer to cover all her debts and give her the job as administrator of his clinic. She didn’t look back, accepted the offer and was pleased with the opportunity to be helping people again. You see, Kelsey is an empath and while this ability can be a hindrance, it serves her well…most of the time.

When Damian is brought in, all she is told is that he was transferred in specifically by Mr. Dante, that he was suffering from amnesia and he thinks he’s a werewolf. When Kelsey gets her first look at Damien, he’s being held in a padded, secured room and he is gloriously naked.

(quote)
“I studied my new client. His thick black hair reached midback and swung like a dark curtain as he whipped around, his agitation growing with each long stride. He was well over six feet tall. Every part of the man was built—a beautiful body crafted by hard work, not gym time. I pegged him for a construction worker, or maybe an outdoorsman. It was wrong, so very, very wrong, to watch the bunch and flex of his muscles. Oh baby…”
end quote)

RAWR!!! All that long hair-yummy!

There is no hiding the fact that Kelsey is quite smitten with Damian right off the bat, but her need to maintain her professional demeanor especially after her previous work related failures have her keeping her personal feelings and thoughts in check. Damian doesn’t make it easy, though. When she has her first one on one meeting with him, he continually sniffs at her and when he leans over and kisses her, she lets him. Damian tells Kelsey that her scent reminds him of “home” and because she’s dealing with an amnesiac, she goes with it. For Damian, however, there is much more to his just liking how she smells. When he learns that Kelsey is scheduled to have dinner with Jarred Dante, he breaks out of his room, finds Kelsey and bites her. He may have amnesia but his basic instincts come through; Jarred is a threat and Damian wants Kelsey for himself.

What follows is a fabulous, joyful and often laugh out loud trip to Broken Heart, OK. Kelsey is a human, albeit with emphatic abilities. She’s clueless about the paranormal world that resides right alongside the world she knows. She gets a quick education, though, when complications arise from the bite Damian gives her. When Damian regains his memory, Kelsey is tossed head first into the world of vampires and werewolves. Apparently Damian, who he really is, and what he means to his people, is part of a prophecy and Kelsey has an important role in it as well. It will take everything she has to do what she’ll need to do to save Damian, even at the risk to herself.

I loved this book. It is so not your typical dark paranormal filled with angst and blood and gore. I can’t believe I haven’t read this author before, even though she’s been recommended to me a time or two. I completely adored the characters and the many comedic elements Ms. Bardsley weaves into her story. It’s very much on the light side, even though there are a few moments where you are like, “What???” only to turn a page or two and learn that all is well. At one point I was feeling like Kelsey accepted the paranormal world and her new role in it too easily. I got over it-and just read on enjoying the spirit in which the author writes. As this is book no. 8, I worried that I’d feel lost, but the author includes two things in the beginning: a note from the author and the Legend of the Lycans, which was enough background to set me up to enjoy this story as a standalone.

At some point, I’d very much like to read the backlist of this series. I expect to be charmed and entertained by them all. I especially hope the author has plans for a book devoted to Jarred Dante-he made quite an impression on me. If you like paranormal that’s a little lighter than the norm; I think you’d enjoy Must Love Lycans.

This series is getting better and better and the bad part is, it’s starting to contradict with my old reviews since I always proclaim one the best

SO there has been a tie!!!!!!!! YAY! Between 6 and 7

I am not saying the others are not as good but these books hit me, yah know? We all have different taste and I wouldn’t expect our opinions to be the same. I LOVED every book in this series but I have my favourites too. But then, there are some kick-ass books on the series too and they could have been my favorites, thinking about it now...hmmm..i wonder why i didn't list them as one...

ANYWAY…before I get all confused

It tells the story of our hot werewolf; Damien who has been with us from the first book up until now. We know he never laughs, smiles, loosen up and he is one of the triplets.

And it takes a really special girl to match him. So our heroine is perfect for him! She is funny, really hilarious without being annoying. Despite her past and her witch of a mom, she grew up strong, out-going, and care-free. A total opposite of Damien.

“But she’s not your mate.”
“I’m really a stripper,” I said pleasantly, annoyed that she kept trying to force Damian into a corner. The whole mate issue was ours to worry about, not hers. “He pried me off that brass pole and swore I would never have to wear a sparkly thong again.”

But you know what they say…Opposite attracts and oh, boy (ok, that sounded lame attract they did!

You see, werewolves, are known for their…insatiable and relentless carnal appetite. Though he tried really hard to stop it, he couldn’t control himself, especially when our heroine keeps seducing him. LOVE that part!!!!! It was all HAWT! HAWT! HAWT!

Other than the humour, it also managed to make me cry. Some scenes were just to touching I can’t help but cry!

For a Looooong series, I think I have outdone myself. I usually get bored or whatever but I can’t get enough of Broken Heart; probably because of guaranteed romance but still unpredictable, hot heroes, some kick-ass powers and addicting humour.
You just can’t read just one!

The next instalment will be publish…wait, it’s now!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!

I pulled this off the clearance shelf at Half Price because I thought "why not, I like werewolves."

WELL.

It's not ever a great review to say the most cohesive part of this book was the sex scenes, but at least during those I understood what the heck was happening.

I'm pretty sure Bardlsey has never met a plot twist she didn't like. In fact, she liked them all so much she put ALL OF THEM into this single romance novel, like a cake recipe gone horribly wrong.

Dollop of super-traumatic backstory involving a serial killer. Essence of abusive childhood. Sprinkling of mysterious billionaire. Stir in a batch of quirky side characters -- can never have too many of those. Dash of meddling goddess. No, two meddling goddesses. Wait, better make it THREE meddling goddesses. Fold in a "surprise! you're adopted" in the middle. Can't forget the super soldier swat team. And of course, the McGuffin thrown in with just 50 pages left.

So much happened in this book I just was too exhausted to even care that the characters fell in love. What little "character" they had anyway.

With so much focus on moving the plot from Point A to Point I-don't-even-remember-anymore, it barely felt like I got to understand why the heck Kesley (heroine) was having such major moodswings and why Damien (hero) gave a damn about her, other than, of course, that whole werewolf destiny thing.

The most annoying thing about this book, though, was that it could've paused at 30 pages in and said "ok, we're gonna work with what we've got" and made an interesting, engaging novel.

I mean, "pyschotherapist is instantly attracted to her brooding patient who thinks he's a werewolf, and GUESS WHAT they're actually destined mates -- but only if he can convince her werewolves are real" actually sounds like a fun book to read!

Bardsley obviously loves fantasy and romance and tropes, and I can forgive that, but chill the eff out. Less is more.

Also she seems to think that jet lag is caused by physically being on a plane, and not by crossing multiple time zones. I can't get past that, and believe me, I've spent all day trying.

If I never read the phrase "sweet mamma jamma" again, it will be too soon.

Must Love Lycans is the eighth installment to the Broken Heart, OK series by Michelle Bardsley and a Signet Eclipse Paranormal Romance.

Book Blurb:

It only takes one bite...

Since the moment he showed up - gloriously naked - I’ve been having a hard time keeping my relationship with the clinic’s newest amnesiac patient strictly professional. Damian might not remember his past, but sweet mamma jamma, he sure knows how to push all my buttons.

Even with my empathic abilities, I’m not sure I can get past Damian’s anger to find the cause of his delusions. After all, falling for a patient is bad enough, but falling for a patient who thinks he’s a werewolf is a whole other kind of crazy. Especially when said patient decides to mark me as his. Now I’m feeling a little bit funny, and not just because Damian sets my hormones raging...

My thoughts:

Kelsey Morningstone is a psychotherapist employed by Jarred Dante, the multi-millionaire owner of the Dante Clinic which is housed in a mansion just outside of Broken Heart, OK.

As an empath, Kelsey is able to more clearly understand what her patients are feeling, making it easier to formulate a plan of treatment. Still coming to terms with recent events in her own past, Kelsey is hesitant to use her ability to its’ fullest extent.

Her newest patient, Damien, is an amnesiac. He has no recollections of his past, can’t remember anything prior to arriving at the Dante Clinic.

But even without his memories, he recognizes in Kelsey something that belongs with him - his mate. Oh - and he thinks he's lycan.

Kelsey may not believe that Damien is a lycan - but she can’t deny that he is different from any man she’s ever met. And when she begins dreaming of the Moon Goddess and her mate, Tark, Kelsey realizes that Damien just might be telling the truth about the whole lycan thing.

I always enjoy the Broken Heart novels and Must Love Lycans is another great installment.

I give Must Love Lycans 4 out of 5 stars.

Hmmm... At some point, one must accept that a series has run its course. The author has managed to hold that off for maybe another book or two but really - using new prophesies to change Patsy's role (and thus add another book or two) isn't really fooling anyone.

So Damien gets his book, and we find out exactly what constitutes a "royal". We also get introduced to a changeling, and a demigod who is able to shift into various other things. To be honest though, I didn't care. Our H/h spent a good portion of the book in "quarantine" which simply means she was unable to interact with the rest of Broken Heart. So the book has a lot of sex, a lot of her angsting about her mom (who wasn't), and well, not much else - other than being informed that Patsy isn't going to be the leader of the werewolves anymore because the royal has gotten a mate, which forced him to get over himself (he's kinda like a canine Aragorn in that respect - the movie version, not the Tolkien version). Actually, I found myself disliking the H a bit because of that - 60+ years is an awful long time to hold a grudge against your parents for disappearing.

After how very, incredibly much I hated "Because Your Vampire Said So" I was thisclose to just getting rid of all the books in this series without a second thought. But then I had a second thought. I loved these books when I was younger. I mean, adored them. Surely they couldn't all be /that/ bad? surely my taste wasn't /that/ bad?? In, perhaps, a desperate bid to prove to myself that I wasn't that terrible as a teenager, I grabbed one of the other books at random, and it happened to be this one. I was pleasantly surprised. I mean its still kinda bad, but it's like...pleasantly bad. Comfortably bad. The kind of bad I expect from a paranormal romance novel. I'm still getting rid of it, but not with the same amount of vitriol.

The main character, Kelsey, is kind of dumb but I enjoyed the male lead. Their relationship develops at a pretty reasonable gradual pace, which was nice, and they had a ridiculous amount of sex in the face of some pretty dire circumstances, which is expected. All in all, a fairly standard romance novel, solidly enjoyable, occasionally even a bit poignant. 3/5.

I loved this book, it was almost my fav of the series until I read the nexxt one.
Through the entire series, till this book, you get the creation mythos of the Lycans and while it is pretty nifty on its own the real story is pretty awesome.
I really liked Kelsey and finally Damien gets his story! I thought I had some mom issues, but omfg Kelsey's take the cake for sure.
The one thing I like about Bardsley's writing is that she seems to have a good grasp on how much humor to use. She doesn't stray over the top and it pretty much stays relevant for me and I don't go into an eye rolling fit like I ended up doing with some of the other authors who write slapstick sort of humor. I admit to reading their books, the first few of different series, but eventually they always went too far into the abserd for me and I had to stop reading anything else by them.

I picked up this book for free at my library…and surprisingly didn’t love it. The heroine was annoying (the constant internal stream-of-conscious about how awful she was and how she felt self-conscious about everything…to say nothing of her peculiar turns of phrase. How can I take a heroine seriously who says “sweet mamma jamma!” In moments of extreme excitement?!). The first half of the book was really campy (in a silly, spooky movie kind of way). And the ending felt incredibly rushed—and I didn’t feel that I was particularly invested in the outcome. I also found it strange that some pieces of information were emphasized repeatedly (to an annoying degree) while others that seemed more crucial were only mentioned once in passing.

I had a bit of trouble getting immersed in this book, because the author’s marketing left me disgruntled. The book opens with her saying 3 years have passed, and if you want to know what’s happened since the previous book, you need to go to her website and download an ebook. Her home page is a sales pitch for a monthly subscription to “extras”. The book will not download until you agree to get spammed. Once downloaded, you are expected to install a special app to read it. I didn’t bother.

So I actually checked this out thinking it was a different series that I'd read before. Oops. It was a fun read, but I felt confused by some dynamics that were probably explained in previous stories. Oh well, it was a fun read and I'll probably check this series out now XD

I loved reading this story!! This book is written in first person POV from the heroine and her point of view is so freaking funny. I am writing this review for Julie over at Yummy Men and Kick-Ass Chicks and one of the things she likes to do is highlight the "giggle-worthy quotes"... seriously, I have over 10 places marked in my book, and there were so many more that I could have highlighted. I was constantly giggling as I read this book. (This was my first Michele Bardsley read. There will be others because I LOVED her humorous voice!)

I adore this heroine. She's had a hard life, with a mother who anyone would think was a nightmare. She's dealt with that throughout her life using humor. Kelsey is a psychotherapist and the year before this book takes place, her entire life fell apart. See, she's also an empath...she can read other's feelings and help even them out. On the surface, that seems like a really good thing for a psychotherapist, but people have feelings for a reason and when Kelsey helps to "even" out her patients, she is actually making them even more unstable. They need those feelings to tell them that something is wrong.

The year before this story took place, she was treating a serial killer who went nuts on her. In the end, she got blamed for it, although she was a victim too (she just barely survived) and lost everything....her home, her practice, her reputation, and her mother (also a noted psychotherapist) turned on her in the worst way...in public and viciously. Then Jarred Dante came to her and offered her a job running the Dante Clinic...a very exclusive in-patient treatment center, where the patients are treated like royalty, each with their own suites (although on complete lock-down) and perks. Kelsey has only been at the clinic for three weeks when Damian shows up and something doesn't seem quite right to Kelsey.

Here's one of those great quotes when she first sees him:
I refocused my attention on the new patient.

The poor guy didn't even have a pair of boxers to cover his... um... I blanked as he made another turn and revealed his front. Yep. There it was. In all its glory.

Sweet mamma jamma.

His penis was huge and it wasn't even erect.

Heat swept through me along with a big heap of shame. Get a grip, Kelsey, you heartless slut. I was behaving unprofessionally -- even though it was only mentally. Just because I hadn't had sex in.... er, ever, didn't mean I had the right to entertain the idea of sleeping with a client.

No matter how gorgeous.

Or well-endowed.

For all my faults as a psychotherapist, I'd never had sex with a patient. (See, Mother? I could too be ethical.)

I love her. Her snarky sense of humor is so funny and entertaining, especially in contrast to Damian's super-serious, always laced up countenance. They make a great couple and I love how she has the ability through her empath and training to see when people are getting too worked up. She has an amazing ability to relax just about any situation (and this book has a GREAT emotional story line so there are some great serious moments too) and it made this book so fun to read.

Other giggle-worthy quotes:

"This dress was actually owned by Jessica Rabbit," I continued. "It's all boobs!"

Damian enchained my wrist to halt me, and then he swept me into his arms. "If you say boobs one more time, I will drag you into the nearest janitorial closet and fuck you."

Electric thrills raced through me. "Boo--"

He kissed me. Hard. I threw my arms around his neck and enjoyed the hell out of it. He pulled away, his breath harsh and his eyes glittering. "You're trying to kill me."

"Testing your resolve," I said. "You don't seem the type to issue empty threats. Honestly? I"m kind of disappointed."
*************
I sighed. "All right, Damian. If you think we should refrain, then we'll refrain." I gave him my most pitiful look. "But it makes me very, very sad."

"I bought you cupcakes. They are the antidote to sad."

"Well, I do love a good cupcake....especially if I can smear it across you and lick it off."

"You know," said Damian hoarsely, "refraining may be overrated. Perhaps only a precaution is necessary."
************
After the doctor left, I looked up at my very worried lycan boyfriend. "I'm in heat," I said. "What's your excuse?"
************
I was an official werewolf slut.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

When he breaks from his apartment to seek her out and then bites her to claim her she’s not sure what to think. After she awakens from a bout of what she thinks is the flu she’s ready to break free of the clinic and break Damien the I-think-I’m-a-werewolf guy out as well.

Damien ends up saving Kelsey instead of the other way around. He ends up taking her to Broken Heart to protect her from her boss at the clinic who also wanted to claim her. The problem is is that when Damien bit Kelsey he started the change in her – which has never happened before – werewolves are born, not made. Yet Kelsey’s boss injected her with something that is fighting the change and no one knows if she’s survive or not. There are things that can be done to save Kelsey’s life but neither Damien nor Kelsey are sure that they can be accomplished in enough time to save her life.

Let me start with Damien and Kelsey’s relationship. I really liked them together. They had a great chemistry and Damien seemed that he was a more light-hearted person when he was with her. He tended to keep people at arm’s length and I loved how Kelsey just flat out told him that he couldn’t be “statue man” with her. He just had to come clean with his thoughts and feelings.

The other parts of the book were darker than previous Broken Heart books I’ve read. There were new prophesies that had to be dealt with and the issue of Damien and his brother’s birth and coming clean about who his parents were. We also were privy to Kelsey’s volatile relationship with her mother and frankly I wasn’t too impressed with it. I felt that it was not a part of the book that furthered the story and I wasn’t sure why it was brought up. Yes, Kelsey had a history with her mother that was bad but furthering the bad blood didn’t do anything for me. There was definitely humor in the story as we’re used to from Bardsley but not quite as much.

Overall it was a good story and worth reading, especially if you’ve been reading the whole series. Hopefully we’ll get to hear more about Drake and Darrius (Damien’s brothers) in future books.

Rating: 3.75 out of 5

I was so excited to get my hands on the newest Broken Heart novel from Michele Bardsley!!

I've read a few serious urban fantasy novels, and a few dark paranormals as well. So this book was a breath of fresh air! Every now and then, it's nice to read a book that can bring a smile to your face, and make you chuckle, as it draws you in to the story!

A little back history of the Broken Heart novels:

Broken Heart is a town where a number of it's citizens were bitten by a rogue vampire in one night. The Consortium, made up of vampires and a number of other paranormal beings, had come in to save these people.. as well as to buy up property and businesses. They wanted to create a town in which they could be themselves, instead of having to be in hiding. A number of these vampires, and other creatures, ended up falling for some of the "turnbloods" (the term they use for newer vampires), which made for some fun reading! There were bad guys, too, in the stories, both vampiric and human, and even some deities get in the act.

There are some werewolves who help protect the vampires, and the head of the security detail in Broken Heart is Damien, the eldest of 3 triplet brothers. At the beginning of this story, he has amnesia (and is "gloriously naked") and has just been placed in the care of the Dante Clinic, where psychotherapist Kelsey Morningstone has just acquired him as a patient. Falling for a patient who thinks he's a werewolf, while she's trying to get past his anger to the cause of his delusions, makes it hard for her to be maintain her professional equilibrium. On top of everything else, her new boss, Dante, wants more from her than a professional relationship as well! When Damien bites her shoulder to mark her as his... something starts happening to Kelsey...

That's all you get for a tidbit of this story! We do get to find out more of Damien's and his brothers backgrounds, and Kelsey has some interesting family issues as well! A very enjoyable read, and once the story moves over to Broken Heart, we get to see some familiar faces again!

I was so happy to read the author's note hinting that there are more stories to tell of the residents of Broken Heart! I will be anxiously awaiting them!! :-)

Finally we get to the triplets. I have wanted to read about them since the first moment I met them and I'm so glad to have the first one go so well.

Meet Kelsey, psychotherapist, who just got a brand-new, and very naked, patient. His name is Damian, and he thinks that he is a werewolf of all things. Not only that, but Damian seems to be quite interested in Kelsey, and not as a therapist. It doesn't help that Damian has now marked Kelsey as his and she starting to feel a bit funny.

Like I said, I have been waiting to read about the werewolf triplets ever since I first met them and this start to that didn't disappoint me.

Kelsey is actually a very interesting character. When you first meet her she seems very serious and focused, but once Damian takes her back to Broken Heart and she sees that all this is real, well then she loosens up and you start to see a more open and funny side to her as well.

Damian is similar. In all the other books he is the serious brother that takes his job as head of security very seriously. We never really seem him loosen up. The moment he meets Kelsey that all seems to change, even after he no longer has amnesia. It's even commented on a few times by other characters in the book.

The one thing that really started to bother me about this was the fact that all the lore and prophecies from previous books are just undone. It was like the author didn't go back and read her own work to find a way to really make it all mesh together. Having one prophecy changed by another seems kinda like a cop out to the reader. I don't mind things having to change, but find a way to make them change without undoing everything you have already set up. It was a bit annoying to me.

This book was also highly more sexual than the others, probably because both the characters were not held to the vampire rules of sex equals a hundred years binding. I felt that some of the sex scenes were unnecessary and I felt that we could have focused on something else.

Overall, I loved this book. The humor and story kept me interested. Just wish that the stories from the previous books didn't have to be basically erased to make this story work.

Silly silly series that I can't help but read. :)

Kelsey is a psychotherapist working at this mysterious fancy clinic. She has a new patient with no memories and an incredible body she seems unable to tear her eyes away from. Apparently he has no records either but her boss guarantees the patient suffers from lycanthropy. What she doesn't know is that in Damian's case it's not exactly a delusional thing.

I have to admit it's not the best book in the series, but it's not bad. If you read Broken Heart OK, you know it's supposed to be funny and not exactly serious. Must Love Lycans has its funny moments but it takes a while to like Kelsey, her whole denial stage is too long for my tastes and, true to her profession, she overanalyzes everything. She has a dark past, maybe too dark for the spirit of the series, and dealing with her traumas takes more space in the book than the main plot. For the first time I thought sex was overplayed, not that sex scenes bother me specifically but most of them felt like page fillers.

There are a couple of relevant changes in the main arc, but to be honest you don't have to remember every detail of this series to easily comprehend everything. The fact is those things don't truly play a relevant role in the story and when they do it's re-explained anyway.

It's a perfectly enjoyable book that will make you smile during one lazy afternoon, but don't expect much out of it, it's merely entertainment and for that it's worth your time.

Must Love Lycans is the 8th book in the Broken Heart Series. Broken Heart is the paranormal community and a haven for witches, shifters, vampires, and a demon. The Lycan Triplets, Damien, Darrius, and Drake are gorgeous Alpha male Shifters who are royal lycans that can shift at will. They are the head of Broken Heart's security force. This book happens 3 years after the last book in the series as most of the town has settle into normality and the attacks have been far between.

Damien finds himself naked and being held in a specialized clinic because he has amnesia. He has been rescued from a labratory where he is being tested. Kelsey Morningside is the head psychiatrist. She is fresh from a personal tragedy from having believed she had reformed a serial killer only to be attacked by him. She is haunted by having to kill him to escape. She was rescued by financial ruin by her employer.

One night Damien escapes and bites Kelsey claiming her as a his mate. She is transitioning to Lycan and may Die if Damien cannot interpet her dream correctly and uncover his true past. Damien has to come to terms with his heritage and claim his birthright.

Broken Heart OK is one of my favorite series of all time. These books are funny, sexy, and romantic! Each books stands along but they are so good you should read them all and in order.

This is the newest book in the series but I didn't realize that when I started to read it. I found that I wasn't confused or left feeling behind in the story. I've never read anything by Michele Bardsley but I will definitely be reading more of her books. I loved the humor in the book and thought that Kelsey Morningstone was very funny. Damien was brooding and dark but with very good reasons. Damien tries to keep distance between Kelsey and himself but she won't allow any. Kelsey has a equally dark past and a mother that could be the devil's sister. I loved reading as they healed each other. I only have a few complaints about the book. First it was to short I would have liked to read more about Damien and Kelsey. Also the book mentions the ETAC a human group after the paranormal community but when they show up in the book the scene is a let down no more than four pages in the book. The last issue would be that I don't think the book description is very fitting. Kelsey sees him as a patient twice and by chapter four Damien has his memory back and the book as completely changed. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves vampires, werewolves, and lots of humor. I can't wait to go back and read the rest of the series.
