This story is about knitting. Knitting hat covers for vikings. There is a page in which a sad baby asparagus is being teased for knitting hat covers for vikings, and he is sitting in the corner, crying while knitting. This page is worth getting the book alone.
A cute story which is a ideal length for young readers but isn't so long that it would bore the adult listening . Based off one of my favorite vhs from when I was little💜

This book is about a Viking that went on a trip with his shipmates, forgives them and saves the day with his sewing skills after being picked on for being able to sew. His shipmates soon figured out that without the sewing skills of their fellow shipmate they would not have been able to return home.
The curriculum connection is the lesson being taught by the story and relation to the culture of the Vikings.
Learning lessons about forgiveness early is very important because there will come a time in life where children will be in a situation where forgiveness will occur.
The colors are very deep and bold. The pictures are also quite humorous.
I really like the veggie tales show for children and think that they teach children good lessons. This book, on the other hand, was very lame. I thought it was just ridiculous. If you want a story about vikings and monks by veggie tales I would recommend the video, Lyle the Kindly Viking. My 5 year old nephew really liked it, which is why it gets two stars instead of one. That the children like it is more important than if the adults like it but since the adults have to read it to the children, our opinion counts too.
This book is about how Lyle knits. He gets made fun of for it, but one day when the ship is out at sea Lyle has to knit a new sail in order to get back home. He forgives everyone for making fun of him and everyone realizes that if Lyle didn't know how to knit then they wouldn't have been able to go home. This is an absolutely wonderful book for children because not only does it teach about forgiveness, but it also teaches how making fun of people is mean.
