*This is a combined review of the first three books in the Day of Sacrifice series.*

The story begins with Flora waking up - naked after an all-night bender - to her Guardian telling her she quits. A message left for Flora from her sister indicates she is in danger and needs a Guardian more than ever. It is only three days until her day of sacrifice. As the oldest child, at 21 she must give her life for her family. She must be there and alive to grant her family favors from the Gods. It has been tradition in all paranormal families for centuries, but she soon finds out there are many secrets her family her kept from her, including the fact that she is not her family's true sacrifice.

The series follows Flora's struggle to stay alive and her fight against the gods to end the horrible tradition of sacrificing young adults. The Prophecy begins with immediate conflict and drew me quickly into the story. The background information was presented in the action but did not slow down the pacing of the story. Rebellion fits right in where The Prophesy left off, but also works as a stand-alone. The pace is slower in the beginning, but speeds up to keep the story moving. Dormant is another stand-alone but a great addition to the Day of Sacrifice story. While there is not as much action, this story carried the same intensity by playing with my mind.

Each story brings about the development of two different characters and their relationship with each other. They are all involved in the fight against the gods, but each one finds and/or fights for love.

Day of Sacrifice is a fabulous paranormal romance series. I look forward to reading the next story, Takeover, which is set to release in July 2011.

After reading the first two installments of this series, I couldn't wait to read Dormant. Stacey brings each of the characters to life in vivid detail, bringing the paranormal aspect of the story to life in a way that only Benefiel can accomplish.

Dormant takes the series to the next level, adding to the adventure as the rebellion unfolds. The fact that different characters take center stage with each book only intrigues you more as you become attached to not one or two characters, but a handful of them. If you are looking for action, you will definitely get it in this installment. As Fauna and Clark find themselves in a sticky situation, their love is tested in a way that the previous characters haven't experienced. Benefiel didn't hold back with Dormant; there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Whether you're in the mood for adventure, romance, paranormal, or just a unique plot, the Day of Sacrifice series is definitely the read for you.

Overall, I feel that the first three installments of the Day of Sacrifice series are a refreshing addition to the paranormal genre. I highly recommend this series, as well as Stacey's other works (Glimpse, Glimmer, Glow, and The Toilet Business) as her writing will definitely keep you enthralled.

I'm on pins and needles to see what Stacey has in-store for us in the next installment, Takeover, which is due to be released in July.

Another good read. A few things though: Why didn't Flora tell her sister the secret regarding Fauna being the oldest? When Bartholomew told her Fauna, she didn't seemed surprised or anything either. Strange.

How was Batholomew killed so easily? Wasn't he still wearing his special necklace?

A very strange/cheesy moment was when Clark and Fauna 'return' to their bodies, and right there in the same room is Cara and Abel making out. Um, what to say about that? Not even saying it was inappropriate but seriously? They couldn't have gone off to another room or at least controlled themselves a little better.

After all the alternative realities (or whatever you wanna call them), Clark and Fauna come back to reality at the farm house but it's the 'bad' Fauna. So when Fauna is explaining her plan's to everyone about using Flora as a 'meal ticket', Flora actually wants to hit her? Um hello....the plan was all make believe!

Whatever.

One funny moment was when Clark and Fauna came to behind the bark in the sexual position. haha It's like they wake up and look around, having all these people standing there, staring at them. haha

Another great story in the Day of Sacrifice series. I loved all the crazy twists as they...well, I don't want to spoil it for anyone. :0) It was a lot of fun trying to keep up with things, and it made this story very interesting. Another hard one to put down!
