Garry Paton served in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards from 1988 to 1992.
This book is a memoir of his experiences during Operation Granby, October 1990 to March 1991, where he operated in a tank troop as a tank driver.
To write this book, it was required to extensively collaborate with previous army colleagues, to enable a concise and accurate account of what it is like to live, work and fight in a tank troop during Operation Granby, the 'Gulf War'.
It is a story of twelve ordinary men and their three main battle Challenger tanks, living several months in the desert with intensive training that was followed by eventual combat.
For the men who served in this tank troop, it has always been their private story. The time has now arrived to share this story with others.
