But then why is Danny the only one who doesn't recognize this "new wife?"Confused and more afraid than he's willing to admit even to himself, Danny's responsibilities as a husband to a woman he doesn't know and father to a son with hidden problems force Danny to face a future that is only slightly less knowable than his past.An intimate look at a man trying to hold his family together while he seems to be coming apart, Mark Trainer's New Wife is a remarkable story brimming with insight and affection.
I was expecting something when I saw Jeffery Archer's name on the cover and was truly disappointed with this short story. Why would Jeffery Archer led his name for this? probably his eyes were masked with some suppressed rage that made him see this story as something it was not, just like our hero.
With the Jeffrey Archer name attached to this story title as a short story contest winner, you would think this story would be pretty good to outstanding: it's not, it's just "okay" and I feel like a kid who has been over-promised just prior to opening up a birthday present thinking he's going to get a cool toy, but receives clothes instead and needs to act happy about it.
There were, admittedly, several parts of this short story I could emphasize with the main character on, but it just seemed to drag and drag for a while then all of a sudden the tale is concluded. Without having a spoiler, I do think the ending is a tad bit unrealistic, and I was expecting so much more; who knows what that something was, but at the end I mentally said "that's it?"
That's a problem with being a well-known author - if you attach your name to something that is just "okay" or worse you start tarnishing the brand name, and future sales will suffer: look at all of the Tom Clancy spinoffs with his name sadly attached. If you're expecting Jeffrey Archer quality, you will be disappointed.
Don’t get it? Didn’t understand any of this book, not the start, the middle and especially the ending. All I can guess is he had some form of alzeimers? Every Jeffrey Archer book I have read I have loved, this one didn’t like it all, maybe he had the work experience kid write it for him, or they put the wrong author’s name on the cover.
I've read so many of Archer's books and really enjoyed each one ----- until this one. As I was reading 📚 the story went from 36% and then all of a sudden I was reading and it said I was at 68%, then 96%!! Then here I am at the rating page ---right here! What's going on? Something in this Kindle book is out of sync. I want a refund. Karen Ruth Ullom
Is the husband suffering from early dementia? I wonder? Interesting story, but ends abruptly.! I misunderstood-thought Jeffry Archer had written it in a different style? He recommended the book so must have apriciated it?
I found a it a bit confusing to be honest, and very unrealistic, so did not love this story. Thought the author definitely has a good storytelling talent - just didn't like this particular story that much.
