Another fun read in this mountain man series. For the first time, Nate is out on his own without benefit of his mentor, Shakespeare and so must handle all the perilous adventures he encounters. He begins this adventure while out hunting for game when he comes across a family of Crow Indians that have been outcast from their tribe. Nate's goal is to protect them as best as possible until they can get to somewhere safe.
As always with these books, there's pretty much a new peril in every chapter whether it be a black bear, a wolverine, or a war party of Ute Indians. Always fun stuff, as expected with author David Robbins.
For the research and (I assume) accuracy, I'd give it 4 stars or more, but the storyline was a little on the "just okay" side. I didn't buy it, and how they didn't realize...(mild spoiler alert)...the Utes would figure out where they were headed... Well, that just had me shaking my head. It did give me a sense of how alone the folk of that age were. I had a distinct moment of wondering, " Well, what else could they do?"

I don't know what it is about this series, but I've been enjoying each one more than the last. Blood Fury is my favorite so far and feels like this is where the series might really take off. It's also the first book where main character Nate had to rely on his own wits and ability alone, swept up in a tragic adventure while out on a hunting trip. Taking a break from the series now to check out some other westerns, but I'm looking very forward to the next book, Tomahawk Revenge.
Book number 4 of the wilderness series by David Thompson. It was as exciting and action packed as the other ones. It seems like every chapter has him in a life losing predicament where he barely gets out alive.
I love this book and the Series which is Western Series by David Thompson. There are 65 Books in this Series and I just got done reading Book #4 which is called Blood Fury.
Wonderful read. Great story, well written. Action, adventure, peril and more. Superb characters and intense dealings leave the reader coiled and ready for action.
