A book based on the television series. This is a prequel and set before the show started. In this one, Sydney's father is in town and we get to see their strained relationship. Also, Sydney goes undercover as an intern to gather information on a company that SD-6 is interested in.
These books are intended for a younger audience and it shows with the melodrama with Sydney and her relationships. I am just not buying into the portrayal of the main character as she resembles a shell of what we know of her from the show. I know that is the intention but I believe the portrayal is too far in the extreme. As of the story I was actually a little bored with the spy aspect and the relationship between Jack and Sydney was relegated to the subplot. I did like the final thirty pages and that is why I bumped my rating up the half star.
This is the last one of these books that I picked up at a yard sale. I don't believe I am going to continue the series and this is coming from someone who tries to finish every book series. I just can't get past the main character and that is troubling when reading a book.
The author did an excellent job creating a story that supports a lot of the revelations of the show. You could hear Jack's voice loud and clear in the story. My only issue was Graham Finkman. Shouldn't it be Marshall?
