Kiki Swinson was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia. She discovered her flair for writing after completing her first novel, Mad Shambles, while serving a five-year sentence at a federal prison. After being released in December 1996, Kiki later went on to self-publish Mad Shambles. Her passion for writing didn't stop there. Writing feverishly into the wee hours of the night, she completed her second novel, Wifey, which was published by Melodrama Publishing. After the success of Wifey, Kiki penned the sequels I'm Still Wifey and Life After Wifey, as well as The Candy Shop and A Sticky Situation.
I liked the whole two stories in one thing. It was really good, Shannon is a bitch for what she did, because even though her husband was cheating I don't think she should have messed with someone who was supposed to be his best friend. Because in the end the best friend played you too. Robyn Banks was a good story too, I just don't get why she would want to follow in her fathers footsteps knowing that she could get caught which she did. And on top of that she was supposed to be working for the DEA, a federal law enforcement. But overall they were good stories, must reads.
At first, I felt this was the same story just told by another author and different characters' names, and wasn't sure I was going to finish. Yet, even though, it is the norm that you see on Prime videos or low budget films on Urban films--drug dealing life to live in a decent neighborhood which all went to shyt until the heist idea came forth. Can Shannon, a female, with a little male companions pull it off? Her girl, so called friend, will see her end because of her stupidity; that's why you cannot tell people your potential plans no matter how close you think they are.
I chuckled when she said the dudes ugly was between Biggie Smalls and King Kong, ding dong!
I see it is two separate stories written by Kiki and De'Nesha.
Ultimate Heist rating-- 4 stars; it was fast pace, not too much vulgar language or scenes, and decent tale with a twist that one I expected and other sort of not but good flow and writing.
Robyn Banks rating-- 2 stars; I have read her Hustle series and at first was like no way then ended up reading them all. I definitely like her other series with the detective vibe, so this is supposed to be that, and see how she pulls this one off.
I borrowed a copy from work library to read and give honest review.
Both stories were really good. KiKi did a great job, I'm from the 7 cities so I felt like I was there. I thought the 2nd story was super cute-it was my 1st ready by this author.
I like the fact that there were two different stories about a heist in the same book. I like both stories and there endings. The first story has a satisfying ending while the second had a happier ending.
THE ULTIMATE HEIST-KIKI SWINSON 3 STARS Really after you have read a few Urban Fiction/Street Lit books you could see the plot twist coming. Only one twist surpised me, but it wasn't enough to push up the rating of the book. There is betrayal from everyone involved except maybe Todd, but he puts his wife in a sticky situation. Really there is not much more to say. This part is about 100 pages and it took me to long to read it because I kept getting bored and putting it down. If this was an attention grabber for me I could have finish this in one sitting. If you haven't read a lot of Street Lit books it may be more appealing.
ROBYN BANKS- DE'NESHA DIAMOND 3 STARS This story was better. I like the relationship between Robyn and her father and his friend. I even laugh out loud a couple of times. Robyn's story is about 130 pages long. Her father was a big time thief along with his 3 friends Rawlo-who now weighs like 400 lbs, Mishawn-who is legally blind and Tremaine-who is deaf and needs hear aids and they think they might need to pull off one more heist.
Robyn also runs into what sounds like every woman dreams man but will he be to good to be true? In the mist of her job as a DEA agent and meeting McHotty her Mom has found out disturbing news about her husband of 25 years. Robyn also has to prevent someone close to her from pull off a heist that threatens their freedom.
Over all these 2 stories were a 3.5 for me, but I can't give up a 4.
I enjoyed reading the first story in this book by Kiki Swinson, "The Ultimate Heist". It kept my attention and I was eager to see how it all played out. She definitely put lots of twists in there to keep you guessing or not guessing as how it was to play out. I didn't even see what was coming to the chick Shannon as she thought she had it all mapped out and was about to be on easy street as well. It was a little difficult for me to root for her since all the ill things spoken about her husband was only mentioned briefly towards the end, so I didn't get that connection where she had a right to do what she did. I got a feeling as if there would be a continuation to this story, guess I gotta look out for that.
The second story, "Robbin' Banks" by De'Nesha Diamond, had a nice plot and sounded interesting but I just didn't get drawn in as I did with the first. It also had some unexpected twists but I didn't find myself on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened next, can't exactly put my finger on why. Maybe I was expecting more coming after Ms. Swinson's story... maybe I would have enjoyed it more had it been the first story in the book instead. Who knows, but I may revisit it with less distractions and see if my mind changes as I am listening to it on audio.
i really enjoyed this book! part 1 was really good and pretty messed up how it ended but when you do somebody wrong, it comes back on you! now part too shocked me as well i would have never known what robyn and keston were into illegeal things while still being apart of the law!
Never judge a book by a cover, or as this book shows a person by their past. Two snappy heroines step into the roles that are so often watered down by suspense novelists, except these two are believably real, complex, and full of attitude that makes for a satisfying read! I could totally see this as a TV show.
KiKi Swinson-part1was good but I was like wth. I was still left with some?s. and to me this is not like KiKi. Part2was a OMG it should have been a whole book I love that part she is a great story teller
WOW I finished this in one sitting I didnt start until this morning. The second story was really really good the twist and turns of this story didnt c coming. Who u thought someone was r wasnt was unexpected. Kudos for both aauthors. :-]
