Wilderness Series Book #8. In 1829, a new life in the vast unchartered region beyond the Mississippi River, was a cause for celebration, and fear. With wild beasts, lawless renegades, and hostile Indians enough to threaten even the bravest of men, a newborn had little hope for survival. Upon the birth of their first child, trapper Nathaniel King and his Indian wife, Winona, were overjoyed. But their delight turned to terror when Nathan accompanied the men of Winona's tribe on a deadly buffalo hunt. If King didn't return, his family was sure to perish. Read by Rusty Nelson. 5 CD's 5 Hrs.
Book 8 has a tighter plot than Book 7 and doesn't devolve into a Blackfoot encounter as the main action, so I really appreciated that. And I'm very interested to see how the birth of Nate's son will impact the subsequent novels. On to the next one!
Really enjoyed the book, yet again in the final chapters, the character that you are hoping live, dies. A heart break to read. Its how real life plays out.
Young Nate takes his wife back to her tribe for the birth of his son. He participates in buffalo hunt and war with another tribe all ends well they return to their cabin
