Mysteriously drawn to each other, Chicago journalist Tyne Jensen and Italian architect David Carvelli, embarking on a torrid love affair that transcends time, discover that their lives, both past and present, are linked to an unsolved murder from the nineteenth century. Original.
Again was an interesting book. On one hand, it was good because we, the reader saw two souls whose love and defeat transcend time. On the other hand, the romance of the present was convulted and confused by the romance of the past.
Tyne is the heroine of the present. She is a self-sufficent, independant woman who is not actively looking for love, but isn't opposed to it if it comes along. She starts having dreams that are so erotic and strange that it starts to interrupt her life. David is the hero of the present and he is searching for something and is restless, but he doesn't know why. He also has these erotic dreams of a woman that he has never met before, but knows that she is his. These dreams that David and Tyne are having are of their past lives whose names are Rachel and Johnny. Rachel and Johnny had a tragic, forbidden love in the 1800's, in New York City because of their racial differences. It didn't turn out well for them. Johnny is a now a tortured soul who is trying to find Rachel in the next life to correct the mistakes of the past.
The story was interesting due to me, the reader not really knowing which way the story was going to play out and how things were going to come together. I was invested in the story until an obvious faux pas of non communication separated Tyne and David. That dropped the story from a 4 star to a 3 because it was just so unnecessary. The story could have gone differently and still kept it's allure without a misunderstanding that didn't need to happen. On the other hand, the love scenes were well written and the emotion felt of the characters. The end of the story was satisfactory, but I still felt it missed its big bang.
The very reason I started writing! Again, is the most beautiful story I have read in a long time. The fact that love conquers all...even centuries. A man that never forgives himself for a murder he committed centuries ago, keeps him coming back to live again until he rights his wrongs. Just thinking about this book makes me want to read it again. And Again.
Loved this book! I picked it up on a sale rack at the bookstore and thought I would give it a chance b/c the cover looked really interesting. Let's just say after multiple reads, it is still just as good as the first time. I like all different types of books and Again has it all: mystery, romance, a touch of sci-fi/paranormal. Definitely a great book in which to escape.
I loved the Story and Tyne and David. It was so, enthralling. Simply put, it was a pretty good read in my opinion. This was one of those books I opened, thinking it would be a bust like most IR romance novels, but no, I was so wrong. There's was literally, one for the ages <3.
Tyne is a mid-thirties career woman who has struck out in love time and again. But her days are distracted by the erotic visits she receives every night from a handsome stranger --- who meets her in her dreams.
David can't seem to escape from the hold his dreams have on him. His life is spiraling out of control from the incessant pull of a mystery woman. But there's something else just beneath the surface; a truth that could shatter everything he thought he knew about himself.
Again by Sharon Cullars allows readers a glimpse into the past and the present with a healthy dose of pure desire. Eloquently laced with the pull of soul mate desire, Again is a taste of something extraordinary.
I liked the plot, it was exciting at first glance. The way the story was told however was dragged out. There were times that I did not understand why certain story lines were even mentioned. The book did pick up towards the ending but then fell flat as if the author got tired. I would not recommend this book.
I was intrigued by the premise of a love that transcends lifetimes. This tale does not read that way because the tone of the relationship(s) was downright threatening. Creeped me out.
Holy shit this was good. Great storytelling and characters. I can't believe i'd never heard of this author before. It's hard to get a book like this write but Ms. Cullars does that and more.
