Sonabai lives beside a tree that bears delicious red berries. Every day she picks the berries and makes sweets to sell in the market. She is very contented . . . until Kolaba the fox sneaks into her life. This Marathi folktale has enthralled several generations of children. Ranjan De's papercuts add to the mystery and bring Kolaba to life.
I appreciate the illustrations, however the story is not something that I would want read to kids given that the story ends with animal cruelty (it's aimed to be funny) but the demands of how we share and co-exist within this planet is changing though I don't if its okay to judge this book on that basis I personally wouldn't recommend reading it to children unless we are planning to follow it up with a question on whether what happens is right or wrong?
