Pastor Jason's worst nightmare has just come true, and things are about to get worse. It isn't his fault Aloha Community Church has a history of sexual scandal and grace is in short supply. He's new to the church. Yet, he has been wrongly accused, and unless a miracle happens--soon, he is going to be drummed out of the pastorate in disgrace. However, the small group of random souls who meet in his living room every Friday for a study on the Holy Spirit have problems of their own. Some of them are just as urgent. And they are all wondering the same where is God in the midst of all of this heartache? They are about to find out. And in the process they will discover love, faith, great joy, and what it really means to be a part of the body of Christ. A must read for anyone in a local church!
Deanna spent over twenty years teaching classic literature and drama to students in Christian schools and homeschool co-ops in Honolulu HI. However, when she and pastor husband, Bill, returned to the mainland recently, she left the classroom and began writing a series of action/adventure novels for young adults. These are set in the Middle Ages, the same time period that had so excited her middle school and high school students in Hawaii. When not writing, Deanna loves to spend time with her young grandchildren who now live close by, rather than thousands of miles away. Deanna and Bill are also busy raising a little whirlwind of a cockapoo named Gracie, who loves every person she meets, especially the UPS guy with the noisy truck.
In This Day and Age, it is not uncommon to turn on the television and find a scandal involving a church or members of its staff. So it is with "Random Souls". Aloha Community church is no stranger to scandal. This tends to make the congregation stay alert. Then we have Miss Lottie. She seems to always be on the lookout for the negative or evil that may or may not exist. She isn't content to look for trouble, she gossips about what she "thinks" is happening. When Pastor Jason makes a mistake in the way he handled a situation with a woman he was counseling, Lottie sees it, puts her own spin on it and then her tongue goes to wagging. God uses Pastor Jason and the events that threaten to destroy this church to actually begin the healing process. Lives are changed because God shows that love conquers all. Love for fellow man and church. This was a wonderfully written book. It demonstrates how rumors can ruin a church. I whole-heartedly recommend this book
